MotoAmerica’s newly announced two-day events for 2019 will still include two races for Superbike, Supersport and Junior Cup.

At least that’s the current plan, according to MotoAmerica Communications Director Paul Carruthers.

Stock 1000 and Twins Cup will likely race only once on two-day event weekends, just as they raced only once during events in 2018. However, Stock 1000 and Twins Cup may race twice during some three-day events in 2019, according to Carruthers.

Carruthers also gave a rough outline of how a two-day MotoAmerica event might look.

On Saturday morning there will be practice sessions for Junior Cup, Supersport, and Superbike, followed by qualifying sessions for Junior Cup, Supersport and Superbike, and then Superbike Superpole. Following lunch there will be Race One for Junior Cup, Supersport and Superbike, followed by practice sessions for Stock 1000 and Twins Cup.

Sundays will start with warm-up sessions for Junior Cup, Supersport and Superbike and qualifying sessions for Stock 1000 and Twins Cup. Following lunch, there will be races for all five classes: Junior Cup, Supersport, Superbike, Stock 1000, and Twins Cup.

The exact order of the practice sessions, qualifying sessions and races will be determined at a later date.

As for why MotoAmerica is going to hold two-day event weekends in 2019, MotoAmerica Chief Operating Officer Chuck Aksland was unavailable at post time, but in an interview earlier this year with Roadracingworld.com he said, “Obviously, it would help some teams with expenses and us with expenses. It seems like some of the circuits we go to are traditional three-day circuits, three-day events with good camping. I would count Pittsburgh as one of those and Road America. But there’s others where we’re seeing with our ticket sales and stuff it might be better to try a shorter event.”
