The Meen Motorsports team, which races under the name HelmetSounds.com/Western Services/Meen Motorsports, will not be competing at Round Eight of the MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Race Series this coming weekend at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PittRace), near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Meen Motorsports’ rider Josh Herrin, the 2016 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Champion, currently sits eighth in the Motul Superbike Championship point standings with one podium and five more top-five finishes. In addition, he has qualified on the front row and raced for the lead several times during the 2017 season.

But Herrin has also attracted negative attention from MotoAmerica officials by running into Toni Elias and causing him to crash at VIR and crashing and taking out Roger Hayden at Sonoma Raceway, resulting in penalties that have affected Herrin’s on-track performance.

Friction between Meen Motorsports and MotoAmerica over Herrin’s penalties has led Meen Motorsports owner Ameen Sajjadi to pull the plug, at least for Round Eight.

“Meen Motorsports will not be attending round eight of the MotoAmerica series, in Pittsburgh, due to certain discrepancies between Meen Motorsports and the MotoAmerica organization,” read a press release issued by Meen Motorsports. “After [winning] two MotoAmerica Championships, Meen Motorsports has been a strong force in the paddock and has confidence in the growth of the sport and the series, thus it hopes that they can resolve those issues with the MotoAmerica organization as soon as possible. Yet as it stands with the series right now the massive investment required to continue in the series is not justified.”

Herrin, who is at PittRace, sent a statement to Roadracingworld.com, which read: “Ameen called me on Saturday to let me know that the truck was not going to Pittsburgh. I booked a flight [to Pittsburgh] to support my sponsors and the series. I’m disappointed for sure and I hope to be back on a bike soon.”
