US National Endurance Series Gains New Sponsor and Contingency

More news for endurance racing, as long time WERA series sponsor Lucas Oil has stepped up for the US National Endurance Series. Lucas Oil has contributed $5000 towards the championship purse, as well as additional bonus money for each round. The bonus money will be two $250 awards given to the teams that traveled the farthest to participate in that round. The four round series, being done as a joint effort between CMRA and WERA, will be called “The US National Endurance Series presented by Lucas Oil.” Three of the rounds will be full WERA National rounds, which will give competitors a chance to qualify for the WERA Grand National Finals at the end of the season.

Suzuki and Yamaha have also come on board, posting contingency for the series as well. Details will be announced shortly. Rules, procedures, and entry fees will also be announced shortly.

The rounds are as follows:

March 22 “The 8 hours of Texas Endurance Race” hosted by CMRA at Texas World Speedway, College Station, TX

April 5/6 NOLA Motorsports Park – 6 hour, hosted by WERA, New Orleans, LA

May 17/18 Hallett Motor Racing Circuit – 6 hour hosted by CMRA

October 23/26 WERA Grand National Finals at Barber Motorsports Park – 4 hour, hosted by WERA, Birmingham, AL

Teams competing only in this series will not be required to purchase the hosting organization’s license for these selected events. All valid race licenses will be accepted (CMRA, WERA, CCS, MRA, AMA, etc). All the rounds will be a WERA National Endurance round, in addition the Hallett and NOLA rounds will be a combined full WERA National Challenge round, so riders will be able to qualify for the WERA GNF. To qualify for the GNF, riders will need to purchase a WERA license. A WERA representative will be available at the two CMRA rounds – Texas World and Hallett, for that purpose.
