Corey Alexander has been named the winner of the Roadracing World Young Gun of the Year Award for the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing season–and the $2500 prize that goes with the award. Roadracing World founder John Ulrich presented a ceremonial check to Alexander during the 2013 AMA Pro awards ceremony held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Sunday night. The award was based on Roadracing World’s 17 consecutive years of recognizing the best young road racers in North America in an annual Young Guns feature. The award competition was open to any Daytona SportBike or SuperSport racer who was 18 or younger at the start of the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing season, and the winner was decided objectively by whomever scored the most points in either the 13 Daytona SportBike races on the 2013 schedule or the 13 stand-alone SuperSport races on the 2013 schedule. Alexander, who turned 19 on May 23, scored the most points overall in 2013 AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport events. The runner-up in the award point standings was Garrett Gerloff, who competed in GoPro Daytona SportBike.
