DENVER, Colo. (July 8, 2013) – Ben Bostrom Events announced today the date and location for the inaugural Rock ‘n Road Challenge, a revolutionary three-day cycling festival combining mountain biking and road cycling with a rich combination of family-friendly entertainment options. This first-year event is scheduled for September 6 – 8, 2013 at Copper Mountain, one of Colorado’s premier cycling resorts. The Rock ‘n Road Challenge has been planned as the ultimate cycling weekend, with every detail meticulously chosen to provide enjoyment for both the serious and recreational cyclist alike. The event was conceptualized by international motorcycle racing athlete Ben Bostrom to provide a fun, challenging and entertaining experience for all two-wheeled enthusiasts. “I fall asleep and wake everyday excited thinking about this event and watching it come to fruition,” Bostrom said. “There’s a quote that I stand by and always try my best to live by: ‘Choose a job you love and you will never work another day in your life.’ It seems to have worked so far, as I have been lucky to have worked with some of the best teams in the SuperBike paddock throughout the years and now M1 in the cycling community as well. Life does not suck and I have a lot of fans and friends to thank for that. We plan to give back as much as possible to the cycling community, as well as designated charities, as we build and create a competitive, yet family-oriented playground at one of the finest resorts in the United States.” Bostrom named the Rock ‘n Road Challenge to represent the two main challenges awaiting entrants: The “Rock” is a tough and lengthy — but spectator friendly — mountain bike ride ascending into the Copper Mountain Trail system and returning to the base area, with extreme and urban elements added for the cyclists to tackle throughout the course. The Rock course will be featured as the first challenge of the weekend, scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013. The “Road” is a classic Gran Fondo-style scenic road ride taking cyclists from a starting elevation of 9,600 ft. to over 11,300 ft. with loops of varying lengths allowing riders of all experience and fitness levels to challenge themselves. The Road course will be tackled by participants on Sunday, September 8, 2013, with a scheduled start time of 7:00 a.m. Copper Mountain is the ideal venue to host the inaugural Rock ‘n Road Challenge. Located just 75 miles west of Denver, Colo., Copper Mountain lies in the heart of the aptly named Summit County and features some of the most scenic on- and off-road riding in the country. “I’m so happy to have the opportunity to team up with Copper Mountain Resort for the inaugural Rock ‘n Road Challenge. What better location than a mountain within an hour of Denver that can provide mountain bike trails, two high mountain road passes, golf, go carts, zip lines, foam pits, climbing walls and more. I’m looking forward to riding and playing with old and new friends at this world class facility for years to come.” The two cycling challenges promise to deliver an exhilarating and enjoyable outdoor weekend, but what will set the Rock ‘n Road Challenge apart from other MOB, cycling or endurance training events is the entertainment spectacle and family-friendly environment created by major event promoters M1. M1 has spent the past two decades revolutionizing the concept of hosting and promoting successful professional motorcycle racing events, and they plan to bring the same level of flair and excitement to the Rock ‘n Road Challenge. There is a long list of out-of-the-box entertainment ideas in M1’s arsenal, all of which are planned for the Rock ‘n Road Challenge, including a Music and Beer Garden, a Vendor Village packed with industry retailers, Rock ‘n Road Girls, a Kids Ride and Fun Zone, Bicycle Demos, JumboTrons to follow along with the action, a Vintage Bike Display, Stunt Shows and more. “I am very excited to be back in my home state and promoting this amazing event in my backyard,” said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 and Ben Bostrom Events. “From 2003 to 2005, we promoted a very successful motorcycle festival named Cyclefest for three years at Copper Mountain and we are very familiar with the venue and the surrounding community. The location is less than an hour from the Denver Metro Area and is widely known to be one of the best resorts that our Colorado Mountains have to offer. The staff at Copper Mountain have always been amazing partners to work with and we could not be happier to be back with our new venture Rock ‘n Road Challenge.” There will be a cash purse up for grabs, and all participants will receive a free musette bag filled with all kinds of goodies including a pair of Mechanics Wear gloves, an event shirt, a Specialized water bottle, tickets for FREE BEER and much more! For a limited time, riders will be able to take advantage of an early registration discount. Head over to http://www.rocknroadchallenge.com now to sign up!
