ASRA Sprint Presented by Pirelli Tire & AMA Sanctioned USGPRU

New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, New Jersey

Mark Heckles won the Expert ASRA Sportbike race after a rough start with a red flag in the first lap. At the restart, Heckles nabbed the lead on his Yamaha YZF-R1and proceeded to open a gap on the rest of the field. Behind him, Ricky O’Hare battled with Arnold Hastings for second place until Justin Jones maneuvered his way through traffic and into the number two spot. Heckles continued to increase his gap, lap after lap, until the checkered flag. He won the race with a 13 second lead over second place Jones. Ricky O’Hare, Dennis Pryor, and Arnold Hastings rounded off the top five.

Frankie Babuska led the start of the Expert ASRA Superstock race with Heckles close behind in second until a red flag incident sent all competitors back to the grid after just two laps. Babuska nailed the holeshot lead into turn one at the restart on his Yamaha YZF-R1 with Cory West and Mark Heckles in hot pursuit. A few laps later, Heckles made his passing move on West and set his sights on the leader. The race became a two -way battle for first between Heckles and Babuska. Babuska was able to maintain his advantage to take the checkered flag with a one tenth of a second advantage over Heckles. Cory West finished third with Timothy Bemisderfer and Eric Wood rounding off the top five.

ASRA and USGPRU will meet to compete again May 28-30th, at Summit Point Circuit. For lap times, points standings, full results, and additional information on past and future events, please go to: www.asraracing.com.
