Alfa Romeo and WSBK extend partnership for three years Jerez (Spain), Sunday 20 October 2013 – Alfa Romeo and Dorna WSBK Organization announce the renewal of the Superbike World Championship sponsorship agreement for the next three years. The announcement was made today in the last Round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship. Alfa Romeo is crossing the finish line of the seventh year in a row of partnership with the current season. The brand has in fact taken part in the motorcycling event since 2007 as Top Sponsor and Official Safety Car, sharing the same values of sportsmanship, technology and safety at the highest levels. The three-year renewal confirms the affinities between the two brands and their respective worlds: in the same way that bikes in World Superbike are production-based, but deliver high performance on track, Alfa Romeo’s cars are ideal for everyday use in the city, but can deliver thrilling performance that are an essential part of the sports soul of the brand. The sponsorship agreement stipulates customisation of the circuits involved in the forthcoming SBK World Championships with Alfa Romeo badges and will see the powerful Quadrifoglio Verde versions of the MiTo and Giulietta in the role of Official Safety Car. These models have assumed a place in the tradition of the best Alfa Romeos, drawing on the heritage of dynamic performance, without compromising on efficiency and convenience in everyday use. Alfa Romeo will be on the track during the warm up lap and before each race, including the other WSBK classes. The partnership also allows Alfa Romeo to organise exciting web contests, offering Superbike World Championship races tickets as the prize, in addition to an incredible ‘brand experience’ marked by the values that authentically distinguish the brand: performance, Italian style and technical excellence aimed at maximum driving pleasure in complete safety. Just as happened last July at the Moscow Raceway during the eighth Round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship 2013, when the announcement of Alfa Romeo’s return to the Russian market as direct importer – through the Chrysler Jeep Russia National Sales Company – was made. The event marked the debut of the Alfa Romeo 4C compact supercar as WSBK Official Safety car, together with the models already present with the role, MiTo SBK and Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde.
