MRA: Hendry, Yee Take Premier Class Wins At Round Six

Hendry and Yee secure victories at Round Six High Plains Raceway

Byers, CO – The sixth round of the 2024 MRA Championship Series took place at High Plains Raceway over the weekend of August 10-11 on the 2.55 mile Full Course configuration.

Race of the Rockies Qualifying on Sunday took place under ideal conditions, with temperatures hovering around a comfortable 70 degrees throughout the morning. Brad Hendry secured pole position with an impressive best time of 1:47.747, followed closely by Gage Mollman at 1:48.493 and Kreece Elliott at 1:48.676.

The Start of Race of the Rockies GTO saw Hendry get the holeshot going into Turn One, followed closely by Elliott and Mollman. Hendry laid down an impressive first lap, gapping Elliott and Mollman by 0.6 second. Elliott, not wanting Hendry to break away, got his head down and narrowed the gap to just 0.1 second by the end of Lap Two. Elliott stayed right on Hendry’s tail for the next two laps but never got a clean opportunity to attack for the lead. On Lap Five, Hendry found his rhythm and started clicking off lap times in the low 1:48’s which opened up his lead on Elliott by half a second. Hendry stayed consistent and pulled a few tenths out of Elliott every lap for the remainder of the race, ultimately taking the win by seven seconds. Elliot took second place followed by Mollman in third. With only one round left in the 2024 MRA season, Hendry has the RoR Championship comfortably in the bag as long as he can finish the final round in 18th position or better.

In Race of the Rockies GTU, Justen Behmer, Ken Yee, and Dennis Stowers all got off the line with great starts. Dennis jumped out ahead of Yee, allowing Behmer to take the holeshot going into Turn One. On Lap Two Yee made a move on Stowers going into Turn Eight to take over second position. By this point, Behmer had a three-second lead on Yee and was clicking off impressive lap times in the 1:52’s. Yee got his head down and started chipping away at Behmer’s lead. By Lap Eight, Yee had caught Behmer and was right on his rear tire. Dennis Stowers was running strong in third, but unfortunately had to retire on the eighth lap due to tire troubles. Yee stayed right on Behmer for the next few laps and ultimately made a move on the final lap going into Turn Five to take over the lead. Behmer stayed glued to Yee and tried to make a move going into Turn 13 but was unsuccessful. Yee claimed the win followed by Behmer in second and Salvatore Rizzo in third. Behmer leads the RoR GTU Championship with a 40-point lead over Yee heading into the final round.

Canadian Superbike: More From Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The good, the very good, and the downright ugly—Trevor Daley puts on a show at Canadian Superbike’s most anticipated round

Mount Hope, Ontario

Wednesday, August 14, 2024

In Trevor’s only other Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship appearance this season, back in June at Grand Bend Motorplex, he won both pro sport bike and Superbike races on a Sunday to remember. Armed with solid data and with the guidance of tuner Jon Cornwell and Australian electronics engineer Jake Skate, Trevor believed he’d taken a step to be even more competitive at his next scheduled appearance, this past weekend’s races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Trevor’s weekend at CTMP started out well, with pole position (his first!) in sport bike and front row start in superbike. But in Saturday’s sport bike race, a fistful of throttle meant Trevor and his GSX-R750 parted ways resulting in a DNF. Later that afternoon, with a left hand that looked like a balloon about to burst, Trevor gutted out the Superbike race to a ninth-place finish. Alas, it appeared the magic that happened back in Grand Bend was not going to be repeated—or so it seemed.

On Sunday morning Trevor squeezed his swollen left paw into a glove, and, proving he’s at his best when the weather is at its worst, won a wet pro sport race. But the best was yet to come. Lining up for the superbike race on a wet but drying track against the best riders in the country, Trevor, with his hand-and-ahalf, launched hard off the line and into the lead. Despite being stalked by defending series champ Ben Young in the late going, Trevor brought his GSXR1000 home for the win on a set of Bridgestone rain tires ground down to such a degree that they resembled slicks. In achieving his second two-win race day this summer, Trevor entered the record books as the only rider in CSBK history to have done the double twice in a single season.

Winning is special. For any rider. At any level. But winning a pro superbike race at Mosport, as CTMP was long known, is a feat reserved for a rare few. Trevor would like to share this victory with those who have supported him in racing and in life. And despite post-event X-rays that showed a pair of broken bones in his hand (he’s on a first-name basis with the X-ray team at his local hospital) he’ll be at CSBK’s season finale at Shannonville August 30th to September 1st. We love to see you there.

MotoAmerica: Scholtz Vs. Jacobsen Supersport Duel Heads To Mid-Ohio (Updated)

Scholtz vs. Jacobsen: It’s Getting Hot In Here

The Supersport Championship Battle Is White Hot As The Series Heads To Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course For The First Time In 10 Years

IRVINE, CA (August 14, 2024) – Ever since the contact between Strack Racing’s Mathew Scholtz and Rahal Ducati Moto’s PJ Jacobsen in the second of two Supersport races at Ridge Motorsports Park (with Jacobsen getting the brunt of it), tension has been running a tad high between the two championship rivals. When Jacobsen put two impressive passes on Scholtz in places you wouldn’t expect at the very next round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to snatch two victories, the heat was turned up even more. And what we have now is a good old-fashioned rivalry for the rest of us to enjoy.

With a month off between Laguna Seca and this weekend’s return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after a 10-year hiatus, it’s Go Time again with the Supersport class and five other support classes set to race in conjunction with the Steel Commander Superbike Championship round, August 16-18, in Lexington, Ohio.

Anticipation for all the classes runs high after the summer break, but none higher than in the Supersport class.

To say that Scholtz and Jacobsen have dominated the class would be an understatement. Twelve Supersport races have been held thus far in the 2024 series and the Scholtz/Jacobsen duo has won 11 of them. And they’ve all been close.

Scholtz leads the title chase by 18 points with Jacobsen pulling back 10 points on the South African with his two Laguna Seca wins as he tries to claw his way back after the Ridge incident that cost him at least 20 points. The gap between those two and third-placed Jake Lewis is a Grand Canyon-sized 131 points, and that’s with Altus Motorsports’ Lewis actually having a really good season.

Scholtz’s first season with the Strack team has been impressive with six wins, four second-place finishes, a third and a fourth. Jacobsen and his Rahal Ducati Moto Panigale V2 have been with him the entire way with five wins, five seconds, a third… and his only non-podium DNF with his Ridge crash.

Lewis is third with the Kentuckian scoring points in every round to lead N2 Racing/BobbleHeadMoto’s Blake Davis by just one point. Jacobsen’s teammate Corey Alexander is fifth in the title chase, 16 behind Davis and just three ahead of his other Rahal Ducati Moto teammate, Kayla Yaakov. Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Tyler Scott, the only rider other than Scholtz and Jacobsen to win a race, sits seventh in a troubled season so far for the youngster from Pennsylvania.

Mission King Of The Baggers – Wyman Vs. Herfoss, Harley Vs. Indian

While the Supersport title chase is turning into a rivalry between Scholtz/Yamaha and Jacobsen/Ducati, it pales in comparison to the rivalry in the Mission King Of The Baggers where even the secretaries at the respective Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle factories probably have disdain for each other.

What we have is Harley-Davidson Factory Racing’s Kyle Wyman and S&S/Indian Motorcycle’s Troy Herfoss 14 points apart in what appears to be a two-horse race for the title.

Both riders have managed to score points in every round with Wyman leading Herfoss in wins, five to four. The pair are tied in podium finishes with each having nine top-three results.

Wyman’s advantage comes from two solid races in the past round at Laguna Seca with the New Yorker coming away with a win and a second-place finish while Herfoss crashed in race one and remounted to finish 11th. He was a disappointed fourth in race two. That was a 27-point swing in Wyman’s favor in the standings and it resulted in Herfoss heading back to Australia in the hopes of regaining his early season mojo.

RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson’s defending Mission King Of The Baggers Champion Hayden Gillim is third, 61 points behind Wyman, and in a must-win-every-race position.

Gillim is 15 points clear of Herfoss’ teammate Tyler O’Hara and 46 ahead of Wyman’s teammate James Rispoli, who sits fifth and 24 points ahead of class rookie Rocco Landers on the second RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson.

Junior Cup – Back In Action

The Junior Cup series has been on vacation since it last saw a checkered flag at Brainerd International Raceway in June, so anticipation for the return of the class at Mid-Ohio is high.

Eight Junior Cup races have been run in 2024 and BARTCON Racing’s Matthew Chapin has won four of them. Chapin’s three wins and a second in his last four starts has him 43 points ahead of New York Safety Track Racing’s Yandel Medina, who is just three points ahead of Speed Demon Racing’s Logan Cunnison.

Levi Badie, who isn’t entered for the Mid-Ohio round, and BPM’s Isaac Woodworth are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the title chase.

Mission Super Hooligan National Championship – Tight At The Top

The closest championship in the MotoAmerica series is the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship with defending champion Tyler O’Hara just eight points ahead of Cory West in another Indian vs. Harley-Davidson battle.

O’Hara and his S&S/Indian Motorcycle FTR1200 has just one win on the season, but five total podiums in the six races. West and his Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson Pan America has two wins and five total podiums. The difference between the two is West’s non-finish at Ridge Motorsports Park.

KWR Harley-Davidson’s Cody Wyman has a victory on his scorecard, and he sits third in the championship – 24 points behind O’Hara.

West’s teammate Jake Lewis is fourth in the standings with a win on his record and he’s seven points ahead of O’Hara’s teammate Troy Herfoss. The Australian has one win on his tally and that came in the very first race of the season at Daytona International Speedway.

Royal Enfield – All Moore

Defending Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. Champion Mikayla Moore has been up to her old tricks all season with five wins out of five starts to carry a commanding 36-point lead into Mid-Ohio. Moore’s only non-win was a non-start when she suffered bumps and bruises in a Twins Cup practice crash that kept her out of action in race one at Road America.

Since then, she’s been unstoppable. As always.

Emma Betters sits second in the championship standings and just four points Betters than Camille Conrad. Conrad, in turn, has Cassie Creer on the hunt in fourth place and just seven points behind.

Kira Knebel rounds out the top five as the class makes its debut at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend.

More, from a press release issued by Rahal Ducati Moto:

RACE PREVIEW:

MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE

LEXINGTON, OH (8.15.2024) – The Rahal Ducati Moto team has ventured to the Rahal’s home track of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, for Rounds 13 and 14 of Supersport competition. This weekend marks the first time in 10 years that the AMA Superbike Championship has raced on the newly repaved track.

Today’s on track activities included four rounds of testing, with PJ Jacobsen topping the charts for the day overall. Corey Alexander, sporting a brand-new livery on his Roller Die + Forming Panigale V2, heads into the weekend eager to gain points in the championship and and Kayla Yaakov anticipates growing her experience and rising in championship standings.

Tomorrow’s schedule will host Practice and Qualifying 1, with Qualifying 2 and Race 1 on Saturday, followed by a warm-up and Race 2 on Sunday.

QUOTE BOARD:

PJ JACOBSEN (No. 15 XPEL Ducati Panigale V2): “I’m looking forward to going back to Mid-Ohio. I haven’t ridden there since I was a kid, back when I was riding a 125cc and Ben [Spies] was racing in the AMA series. It will be great going back, as Mid-Ohio always draws a large crowd of supporters for us and it is the Rahal’s home track. It will be an exciting one for race fans. I can’t wait to get back with the team, make some progress, and collect some wins. That’s our main goal.”

KAYLA YAAKOV (No. 19 XPEL Ducati Panigale V2): “I’m stoked to be racing at Mid-Ohio this weekend on the Rahal Ducati Moto Panigale V2 with XPEL! This track looks like it will suit our bikes very well, and with the addition of the testing day, I cant wait to try and close the gap to the front by the end of the weekend. I’m also excited to be meeting with more fans and Rahal supporters throughout the weekend with Rahal Ducati Cleveland being so close and Mid-Ohio being our team’s home race. Let’s go have some fun!”

COREY ALEXANDER (No. 23 Roller Die + Forming Ducati Panigale V2): “I’m excited to return back to Mid-Ohio! It’s been about ten years since the last time I’ve raced there, but it’s always been a good track for me and one of my favorites on the calendar. It’s also within 10 hours of New York, so I consider it a home race. The break we’ve had over the last few weeks was a great reset, especially being able to get back on a fitness program for the first time since my hip injury. Let’s finish the year off strong!”

BEN SPIES (Team Principal): “Mid-Ohio is a home race for us, and our team is looking forward to it. It’s been about a decade since motorcycles have raced there, and we should be quite a bit faster since it’s been repaved. PJ is locked in a great championship battle with Mathew Scholtz, Kayla has been continuing to impress, and Corey has been riding extremely well the whole year. Hopefully, Corey can get in the mix and stir up some problems for Mathew and PJ so we can get more points there. It’s going to be a great weekend. Hopefully there will a lot of people that come out to support. I’ve always enjoyed Mid-Ohio, as my first Superbike Championship was there, so I love going back. We’re looking forward to good weather and good racing.”

American Flat Track: More From The Sturgis TT

TRIUMPH TIGERS TAKE 1ST & 2ND AT THE INAUGURAL AFT ADVENTURETRACKERS RACE

Sammy Halbert Wins Inaugural AFT AdventureTrackers™ Race at Sturgis TT, with Iván Cervantes in 2nd Place, both on Tiger 1200 GT Pro Motorcycles

The very first Sturgis Rally, known as the Black Hills Classic, was held on August 14, 1938 with a race of 9 participants and a small audience. Fast forward to August 11th, 2024, where 9 racers once again lineup on the starting grid of a new race.

In this race, Triumph Motorcycles has made history with Sammy Halbert (#69) clinching 1st place, and Iván Cervantes (#25) securing 2nd, at the inaugural AFT AdventureTrackers race. The new class took part in Round 13 of the Progressive American Flat Track Championship season, the Sturgis TT, which was held for the first time ever in the streets of downtown Sturgis, SD, and the last day of the annual rally. The AdventureTrackers race showcased the incredible capability of the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro and Rally Pro motorcycles in near stock trim, as riders navigated a challenging TT course, blending road and dirt elements.

“Slammin’ Sammy” Halbert (#69), known for his aggressive racing style and consistency, delivered a stellar performance to take the top spot. An afternoon of steadily declining lap times in the practice and qualifying sessions earned Halbert the inside position on the front row for the race start. A solid holeshot allowed Sammy to fight for first from the opening lap. He raced a consistently fast race, securing the fastest lap at 0:28.679 and the race win.

“I’m Stoked to take the win in the first ever Sturgis TT AFT AdventureTrackers race.” said Sammy Halbert. “The Triumph Tiger 1200 was surprisingly easy to ride – especially in the dirt sections. No matter how hard I pushed it, the bike handled flawlessly. I’m proud to bring home this victory for the team at Triumph.”

Hot on Halbert’s heels was the five-time World Enduro Champion, Iván Cervantes (#25), who demonstrated his renowned versatility and competitive spirit to cross the line in 2nd place.

Cervantes remarked, “I was trying my best to learn the track and the bike during the practice sessions and worked to get better each lap while learning the other riders. It seemed that all the racers were very fast on the asphalt, and I believed my best option was to take advantage of the dirt section. After a bad start, I made a quick pass on turn two and held on to the end of the race. I want to thank Triumph and the amazing team very much for the confidence in me and for the invitation to participate in the AFT AdventureTrackers Race.”

Adam VanderVeen, Marketing Director at Triumph Motorcycles America, expressed his excitement about the race’s outcome: “Sammy and Ivan’s results on the track are a true reflection of their talent. The AFT AdventureTrackers race has proven to be a fantastic platform to showcase the capability and versatility of modern adventure bikes. In the spirit of the race, Triumph made a point to leave the bikes as stock as possible. Seeing Sammy and Iván on the podium is a proud moment for Triumph, and it validates the performance and potential of our Tiger 1200 motorcycles.”

Rounding out the Triumph line-up was a Triumph dealer and race team manager Rob McClendon, current Super Hooligan National Championship racer Kole King, and two stunt performers, Ernie Vigil and Nick Brocha.

N2/WERA Endurance: Army Of Darkness Wins At PittRace

Army of Darkness Takes First N2/WERA Endurance Win of the Year at PittRace.

Media, PA (August 2024) – Army of Darkness took their first victory of the season with riders Josh Hayes and Hunter Dunham scoring the Overall and Heavyweight class wins at round four of the N2/WERA National Endurance Series at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, a.k.a. PittRace. A total of 67 teams competed at the fourth round of the 2024 N2/WERA National Endurance Championship with over $100,000 in purse and contingency.

The 4-Hour N2/WERA National Endurance race turned into a 3-Hour Endurance Race after a first lap incident in turn 5 caused a 1-hour red flag delay when precautionary measures were taken to transport a rider by helicopter to the hospital. Fortunately, all riders were ok, but the delay changed every team’s strategy.

Two-time Twins Cup National Champion Blake Davis on the Alpha Omega Rollers Yamaha YZF-R1 started on pole followed closely by four-time Superbike Champion Josh Hayes on the Army of Darkness Yamaha YZF-R1. The national champions battled tooth and nail with Alpha Omega Rollers’ Davis taking the early lead.

The shortened race changed the fuel stop strategy for all the teams. Army of Darkness was able to take advantage of their oversized tank, stopping only twice for fuel and Dunlop tires while Alpha Omega Rollers had to stop three times. The extra time in the pits cost Alpha Omega Rollers and on their last stop they elected for only fuel to make up the time difference. Hayes on the fresher Dunlop tire was able to run Alpha Omega Rollers’ Eziah Davis down and pass him for the Overall and Heavyweight victory. Despite finishing second Alpha Omega Rollers retains the points lead with rider Blake Davis, Eziah Davis, Anthony Mazziotto, and Miles Thornton. Full Send Moto finished third with riders Eric Anderson and Ian Groom.

YART Taylor Home Comfort won their first Middleweight race of the year on a Dunlop-equipped Yamaha YZF-R6 with riders Anthony Taylor and Ryder Davis. Motor Drone Racing finished second with riders Shane Mags and Brad Burns on a Wiseco-sponsored GSX-R600. Trash Panda Racing placed third in the with riders Chuck Ivey, Nathan Seethaler and Sean Hopkins on a Yamaha YZF-R6.

Robem Engineering continues their dominance of the Lightweight class on their Aprilia RS 660 with teenage riders Alessandro Di Mario and Hank Vossberg. The family team of Brown Town Racing finished second with riders Chase and Reese Brown, and endurance veterans Some Expense Spared finished third with riders Chris Bays and Giacomo Manera.

RTR Racing’s Ryne Snooks and Logan Cunnison, who is back riding after recovering from an injury, won the 2-Hour Ultra-Lightweight Endurance under a red flag after another great battle with One One Nine Racing’s 14-year-old Reese Frankenfield and Carson King. Garrett Racing finished in the third position with riders Anthony Garrett and Eric Garcia.

Double D Racing won the exhibition Relay Class with riders Pat Paschall and Jason Buckner. Twisted Stellas finished second with riders Tim Dobbertin, Ryan Manotti, Eric Smith, and Dave Zaka. TCR Performance rounded out the Relay podium with riders Josh Pelcman and Michael Schumacher.

Round 5 of the N2/WERA National Endurance Series will be at Barber Motorsports Park on October 18th.

Young American Racers Selected For Inaugural FIM Intercontinental Games

Editorial Note: Scroll down to see the complete list of riders selected from around the world.

Team selection complete for inaugural City of Jerez FIM Intercontinental Games

With the first-ever FIM Intercontinental Games (ICG) scheduled to take place in Spain at the end of the year, the teams from all six of the FIM Continental Unions (CONU) of Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and Oceania have been announced.

A field of forty-eight competitors – comprising riders from 19 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, the USA – will assemble for the inaugural ICG at the world-famous Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto on 30 November and 1 December 2024. A biennial event which will be named after the city in which it takes place, the City of Jerez FIM Intercontinental Games will be organised with the support of la Junta de Andalucía.

The inaugural edition will be limited to Supersport and Supersport 300 classes – although this will expand to include other disciplines (Motocross and Enduro) as the event becomes established – with Yamaha Europe, as Official Partner, providing R7 and R3 machines.

Dunlop will be the official tyre supplier and will also provide its racing service throughout the competition, while BETA UTENSILI will support the FIM Continental Unions with their professional mechanical tools and toolboxes.

Riders will wear their CONU team colours with electronic airbag suits and gloves supplied by SPIDI, boots by XPD, while Airoh will provide all riders with their FIM Racing homologated GP 800 helmets and Panta Racing Fuel as the official supplier of fuel.

Each CONU will sport its own colours and field eight riders with four contesting each class. In keeping with the FIM’s ongoing commitment to diversity, each CONU will field at least one female competitor in both classes. The age of the riders will be according to the sporting rules of each discipline.

This new competition will benefit from exceptional TV coverage thanks to the support of the FIM circuit racing promoters Dorna who will carry out the TV production and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe who will ensure broadcasting on their digital platforms.

The ICG is intended to provide an outstanding international platform for young riders in partnership with all FIM Promoters. In 2024, the competition will take place over four races, two per class: R7 and R3. The points awarded to each rider based on their ranking will be added to the points of the other team members to determine which of the six FIM Continental Unions will be the first to win the Games.

FIM President Jorge Viegas, who initially proposed the idea of an ICG to the FIM Board of Directors in 2002, said: “As the date for the first-ever FIM InterContinental Games draws closer the sense of anticipation is growing stronger and stronger. It is very exciting to be bringing together all six FIM Continental Unions in the FIM’s one-hundred-and-twentieth anniversary year and to have riders from across the world competing underlines a very real sense of unity. I am confident that this is just the beginning and that the ICG will continue to develop and grow.”

MotoAmerica: Escalante Returning To Action At Mid-Ohio

RICHIE ESCALANTE AIMS TO RACE MOTOAMERICA SUPERBIKE AT MID-OHIO

Brea, CA – (August 13, 2024) – Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki rider Richie Escalante (54) has been medically cleared and plans his return to MotoAmerica Superbike competition.  Escalante will race at the MotoAmerica PermCo Superbikes round, August 16-18 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH.

The popular 2020 MotoAmerica Supersport champion, Escalante remains the first athlete from Mexico to earn a MotoAmerica championship. With consistent results in his second Superbike season, Escalante placed fourth overall in the 2023 Superbike championship with 11 top-five results.

For 2024, Escalante raced a next-generation Suzuki GSX-R750 in the Daytona 200 as part of Team Hammer’s effort, spending most of the 200 pressuring the eventual winner for the lead. Escalante also set the track record in qualifying for the legendary 200-miler. With the Superbike season’s inaugural race at Road Atlanta in April, Escalante was involved in a post-race incident with another rider, after earning a top-ten result in Superbike Race 1.

“Last week, my doctors cleared me to race. It’s been a long four months of recuperation, but I’m finally able to compete again and enjoy my sport. See you all in Ohio!” offered Escalante. “I’d also like to thank my sponsors, supporters, and fans who reached out to me during my time away.”

“We are excited Richie has recovered from his incident at Road Atlanta, and look forward to seeing him back on track at Mid-Ohio,” said Chris Ulrich, Vice President of Operations at Team Hammer.

“Suzuki is pleased to see Richie healthy and returning to MotoAmerica Superbike racing on the GSX-R1000R. He has trained well to return, and we anticipate he’ll regain his racing form at Mid-Ohio and beyond,” said Chris Wheeler, Suzuki Motorsports Manager.

Suzuki congratulates Escalante on his return to the Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki racing effort and looks forward to his racing for the remainder of the 2024 MotoAmerica season. Suzuki also wants to thank Xavi Forés for his contributions to the Suzuki road racing effort during Richie Escalante’s rehabilitation, and for his Superbike podium result at Ridge Motorsports Park.

Moto2: Veijer Signs With Red Bull KTM Ajo For 2025

Collin Veijer to take on 2025 Moto2™ challenge with Red Bull KTM Ajo

2024 MotoGP news

Exciting Moto3™ hotshot Collin Veijer has earned a slot with the prolific Red Bull KTM Ajo team for 2025 Moto2 and the next phase in the 19-year old’s career journey.

The Dutchman is currently 4th in the 2024 Moto3 world championship and is negotiating only his second Grand Prix campaign. Veijer has made just 29 starts and has already grasped two victories and has appeared on the podium seven times since making his debut at the beginning of 2023.

Tall in stature and praised for his quick adaption to Grand Prix, his mature approach and natural attacking style; Veijer is one of the brightest prospects to emerge from The Netherlands this century and will step into the intermediate category next year to continue his rapid trajectory and his path in the KTM Academy.

Before coming to Moto3, Veijer fought for the 2022 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup title and also captured wins and trophies in FIM JuniorGP. He has raced in Italy and uses Spain as a training base during the racing season. Collin will accompany Deniz Öncü as part of Aki Ajo’s decorated Moto2 rider roster. The squad have won three Moto2 titles with three different riders in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and helped four racers make the step to the MotoGP™ premier class in that time frame.

Collin Veijer: “I am super-happy to have signed with Aki and the Red Bull KTM Ajo team in Moto2. KTM is present in all GP classes and this is a great move for my career. It is such a renowned team and past results speak for themselves. For sure it won’t be easy coming from Moto3 but I will prepare myself well. 2025 is the right moment to make the step, also physically the Moto2 bike will suit me better. At the same time, I realise that we are still only half way through the current season and I will continue to keep my maximum focus to reach the best possible Moto3 championship result this year. “

Aki Ako, Red Bull KTM Ajo Team Principal: “I’m very happy to have Collin on board, as we have followed him for many years. He has shown great progress and professionalism and has already made his first steps in the program by taking part in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. During his two seasons in Moto3 he has shown that he is a rider with a bright future ahead of him on the world stage. What I also respect is his focus and his sacrifice, as his life is dedicated to reaching his targets at the highest level. It is a pleasure to continue with the KTM Academy’s work and to keep pushing to get the maximum potential out of the riders.”

Next up, the MRA heads back to High Plains Raceway in Byers, CO for Round Eight (double points weekend) on September 28-29th for a full weekend of racing including the SuperStreet event on Saturday afternoon.

This is what the 2024 MotoAmerica Supersport Series looks like: Mathew Scholtz (11) vs. PJ Jacobsen (15) going back and forth in their private battle for the championship. Photo by Brian J. Nelson, courtesy MotoAmerica.
