Krämer Motorcycles Introduces GP2-890 XX Hypernaked Track Bike

Krämer Motorcycles is proud to announce the latest addition to its lineup of purpose-built track-focused motorcycles, with the debut of the 2025 Krämer GP2-890 XX hypernaked track bike.

Built for wheelies, not podiums, the Krämer GP2-890 XX focuses on the exhilaration of riding a thoroughbred motorcycle on the race track, rather than shedding every tenth of a second from a lap time.

To that ethos, the “Double-X” aesthetic brings an aggressive look to Krämer’s GP2 platform, and it includes a flat handlebar design that provides upright ergonomics that ensure a rider can push their maximum pace all day with less fatigue and more comfort.

A limited-quantity production, the 2025 Krämer GP2-890 XX features carbon fiber everywhere, including for its bodywork, air scoops, number plates, and BST Star Tek wheels.

Additionally, a new GP-style titanium exhaust can also debuts on the GP2-890 XX, providing for a rowdy and booming aural experience on the race track.

“When we looked around the paddocks we were going to, we noticed that a little over 10% of the motorcycles on track were large-displacement naked models, which is an interesting trend developing in the industry,” explained Jensen Beeler, CEO of Krämer Motorcycles USA.

“Until now, no manufacturer has produced a hypernaked that is focused solely for the race track, even though the demographics are skewing more into this category with each passing year. The Krämer GP2-890 XX aims to give these track riders a more purpose-built motorcycle for this segment of circuit riding, in the same way our other motorcycles have done in their model segments.”

The hooligan nature of the Krämer GP2-890 XX is backed up with race-proven technologies and components, with top-shelf brake components from Brembo, suspension pieces from WP, and electronics from Mectronik.

The most exclusive model in the Krämer Motorcycles lineup, the GP2-890 XX will have an extremely limited production run of units. This small batch quantity allows Krämer to offer for the first time a factory customization option, with customers able to pick their frame color and fairing decal design.

“The Krämer GP2-890 XX marks a bit of a departure for the Krämer Motorcycles brand as it is our first hypernaked model without fairings, and it is a bike that is aimed more at track day riders than weekend racers,” said Markus Krämer, CEO of Krämer Motorcycles GmbH.

“The GP2-890 XX also is the first model from Krämer Motorcycles to be part of our new factory customization program, and we plan to grow this program out to our other models in the future.”

Arriving at Krämer dealers in Spring 2025, the Krämer GP2-890 XX is priced at $49,995 in the United States and €50,000 (includes 19% VAT) in European markets.

Because of the limited production size, interested customers are encouraged to reserve their purchase immediately.

SUZUKI INTRODUCES THE NEXT GENERATION OF DR-Z

THE ALL-NEW 2025 DR-Z4S AND DR-Z4SM

Get ready to experience the next generation of Suzuki DualSport and SuperMoto motorcycles with the all-new 2025 Suzuki DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM. Building on the exceptional success and legacy of Suzuki’s renowned DR-Z series, the all-new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are engineered to deliver a perfect blend of performance, versatility, and modern technology.

2025 Suzuki DR-Z4S Dual Sport comes with advanced electronics, including traction control.

Introduced in 2000, Suzuki’s DR-Z400S earned acclaim for delivering precise, nimble handling, easy maneuverability, and ultra-reliable performance. Highly capable and fun to ride, it won the hearts of riders who desired a street legal motorcycle that performed exceptionally well off-road, too. With the addition of the DR-Z400SM in 2005, Suzuki expanded the range to include a SuperMoto version that gave riders even more choice. For 2025, Suzuki is thrilled to introduce two new models that proudly tap into the DR-Z legacy.

DR-Z4s and DR-Z4SM frame has a bolt-on aluminum tailsection/sub-frame.

The Suzuki DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM feature an all-new steel twin-spar frame combined with an advanced aluminum subframe, and a lightweight aluminum swingarm for improved handling performance. They also feature a completely updated 398cc single-cylinder engine, now equipped with electronic fuel injection and the latest Suzuki Ride-By-Wire throttle body for smooth and precise power delivery.

Both new models feature the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which provide advanced riding features like the three-mode Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), a multi-mode Traction Control System with a dedicated Gravel (G) mode, for even more off-road fun. Also included on both machines is an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)** with selectable full or rear-only ABS-off modes, depending on the model.

2025 Suzuki DR-Z4S suspension is all new.

Adding to the refined handling delivered by the all-new frame and aluminum sub-frame, are new KYB fully adjustable suspension components front and rear, and new performance-driven, model specific tires for solid riding confidence. Wrap it all up in modern motocross-styled bodywork, sleek LED lighting, and fresh new colors and the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are ready to conquer the trail or street like never before.

2025 DR-Z4S DUALSPORT Features

All-New Frame and Subframe: New twin-spar steel frame and lightweight aluminum sub-frame give exceptional torsional rigidity with minimal weight. Lightweight aluminum swingarm helps improve tracking and rear suspension response.

New KYB Suspension: KYB long stroke inverted cartridge-style fork with 11.0 in. (280 mm) of travel has adjustable compression and rebound damping force for smooth performance on all types of on- and off-road terrain. New, rear KYB shock absorber has 11.6 in. (296 mm) of rear wheel travel with spring preload plus both compression and rebound damping force adjustments, and connects to a new, lightweight aluminum swingarm through a progressive linkage system.

Thoroughly Revised 398cc Engine: The DR-Z4S is powered by a thoroughly updated 398cc single-cylinder four-valve DOHC engine that delivers a smooth, controllable spread of torque from low RPM up through peak power. The redesigned cylinder head has optimized shapes for the intake port, intake valve boundary, and a smooth, flat combustion chamber that produces better combustion to provide consistent power under low loads with strong power output under heavier loads. The DOHC cylinder head contains a pair of lightweight titanium intake valves and a pair of hollow, sodium filled exhaust valves that help maximize combustion efficiency and performance.

Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.): A collection of advanced electronic rider assists systems. The new DR-Z4S adopts Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, switchable ABS, and the Suzuki Easy Start System. Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) provides the DR-Z4S rider with a choice of three different engine power output characteristics (modes). Working in concert with the Traction Control System*, SDMS permits peak power in each mode while changing the nature of the power delivery. Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) enables the rider to better control the bike in diverse and varying conditions. The rider can select from two modes or a custom-tuned G (Gravel) mode setting that helps the rider maximize off-road performance. Experienced riders can turn the system off entirely and then rely on their skills rather than take advantage of the assistance offered by STCS’s three mode settings.

ABS Equipped with a compact, yet effective Bosch-supplied ABS controller and is the first Suzuki production motorcycle with an ABS system that has a Front & Rear ABS OFF mode that will deactivate the ABS function for both wheels. The DR-Z4S also offers Rear ABS OFF mode, which switches off just the rear wheel ABS function.

New LCD Instrument Panel: The DR-Z4S has a newly designed LCD instrument panel that is light and compact, with a straightforward, legible display. This panel not only supplies critical real-time operating status information, but also keeps the rider aware of the settings for the bike’s respective systems. (as seen below).

LED Lighting: All of the DR-Z4S’ lighting is new, low-draw LED type, including the turn signals (white lenses with amber illumination), the taillight, and license plate illumination light. The new bifunction LED headlight is a unique design that incorporates both the high- and low-beam functions into one, bright projector module

Wheels and Tires: Spoke-style 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with blacked-out aluminum rims are fitted with IRC GP-410 dual-purpose, tube-type tires. Built to perform optimally, whether negotiating off-road trails or riding on roads, these tires feature large center blocks that help provide a solid grip and contribute to the model’s outstanding dirt capability.

New Slim Fuel Tank: The fuel tank is a new, flush lightweight design. Fuel capacity is 2.3 US gal. (8.7 L)

New Air Box and Inlet Tube: Designed to improve intake air flow and generate sharp throttle response with powerful low-speed torque. The left side body cover has a quick-release fastener, and swings open like a door, retaining the popular, easy access to the air filter element.

Electronic Fuel injection: Newly equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection, the 42 mm bore Ride-by-Wire throttle body, feeds the engine through a 10-hole injector.

2025 DR-Z4SM Supermoto Features

New Suspension: New KYB long stroke inverted cartridge-style fork with 10.2 in. (260mm) of travel has adjustable compression and rebound damping force for smooth performance on all types of on- and off-road terrain. New, rear KYB shock absorber has 10.9 in. (277 mm) of rear wheel travel with spring preload plus both compression and rebound damping force adjustments, and connects to a new, lightweight aluminum swingarm through a progressive linkage system.

Wheels and Tires: Equipped with spoke-style 17-inch front and rear wheels with blacked-out aluminum rims fitted with Dunlop SPORTMAX Q5A sportbike tires.

The 2025 DR-Z4SM features a powerful front brake system and ABS which can be switched off.

Stopping Power: DR-Z4SM is equipped with 310mm front rotor

Anti-lock Brake System**: Newly equipped with a compact, yet effective Bosch-supplied ABS control system. The DR-Z4SM also offers Rear ABS OFF mode, which switches off just the rear wheel ABS.

Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS): This system works like a slipper clutch by allowing a small amount of clutch slip under deceleration for smoother downshifts. The SCAS also works as an assist clutch, increasing plate pressure under acceleration, but always keeps the clutch lever’s pull light and precise. This large-diameter, wet, multi-plate clutch uses a precise cable-activated release, providing the rider with a light pull and a superb friction-point feel.

New Seat: The seat width has been optimized to improve comfort when riding. Its durable design supports the rider well when shifting body weight.

BMW Unveils Concept F 450 GS

With the near-production-ready BMW Concept F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is offering a glimpse of a BMW GS for the A2 license class and what a whole new model series between the BMW G 310 and F 800/900 could look like.

“What was particularly important to us in the development of the new BMW Concept F 450 GS was to achieve the best handling for this segment and combine it with strong performance and optimal accessibility. The riding pleasure on-road and off-road is a top priority for this A2 BMW GS,” says Sepp Mächler, Product Manager.

Unmistakable BMW GS Design.

“The BMW Concept F 450 GS carries the characteristic DNA of the GS family,” says Alexander Buckan, Head of BMW Motorrad Design. “We have succeeded in designing the Concept with the sporty dynamic appeal of our large off-road icon in a particularly compact form.”

As with the Trophy version of the BMW R 1300 GS, the colour scheme of blue, white and red with the base colour of Racing Blue metallic represents not only the highest performance and quality, but also the very dynamic and off-road-focused character.

Newly Developed Twin-Cylinder Engine.

The BMW Concept F 450 GS also delivers on the promise of premium quality in technical terms. The twin-cylinder inline engine has been developed from scratch and, thanks to a special, never-before-used ignition offset, is particularly characterful and eager to rev. Conforming to the A2 class, this engine delivers the full 48 hp and provides superior torque even at low revs.

The extremely compact dimensions of the engine, an excellent displacement-to-power ratio and the low weight are the result of innovative solutions and the use of lightweight materials, such as magnesium.

Performance: A Riding Machine for On- and Off-Road.

On the chassis side too, the BMW Concept F 450 GS sets new standards in this segment with premium technology. “We were able to start the development of this vehicle with a clean slate. The aim was to enable excellent off-road capability and, at the same time, a nimble and precise handling on the road. Accordingly, the BMW Concept F 450 GS is equipped with a fully adjustable upside-down fork and a shock absorber with load-dependent damping, drawing on technology from rally and enduro sport. Through the targeted use of lightweight construction and other state-of-the-art solutions, we can create a sensationally light vehicle close to the minimum weight requirement in the A2 class of 175 kg,” says Marc Weber, lead engineer of the BMW Concept F 450 GS.

Diverse Equipment for Safety and Comfort.

Inspired by the larger sibling, the BMW R 1300 GS, the Concept F 450 GS also sets new standards in the areas of safety and functionality in its class. The relevant features range from BMW Motorrad ABS Pro (dependent on lean angle) to a performance brake, to freely configurable riding modes. With BMW Connectivity on board and the 6.5-inch TFT display, the networking of the motorcycle and smartphone as well as other accessories is enabled.

A Glimpse into the Future.

The question that arises when looking at the BMW Concept F 450 GS is: What could we expect in a production version? Johann Simon, vehicle project manager of the Concept F 450 GS, explains: “No compromises for sure. Following the very sporty off-road focus of the Concept F 450 GS, we will implement the bike as close as possible to this concept. We will only adjust the seat height for better accessibility and easier handling. As an alternative to the cross-spoke wheels (19 inches front, 17 inches rear), lightweight but high-strength cast aluminium wheels in the same dimensions are also conceivable.”

BMW Motorrad plans to present the corresponding series vehicle in the style of the Concept F 450 GS in 2025.

New Tuono, Improved RSV4 Headline Aprilia Unveilings At EICMA

At EICMA 2024, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi confirm the renewal and expansion of their range of motorbikes. From sporty riding to touring and from race tracks to the most arduous off-road routes, the new solutions on offer satisfy the need for adventure of all types of biker. Vespa confirms its status as an icon of style and an ambassador of Italian sophistication, with all-new hi-tech versions which offer even more brilliant performance. The Piaggio scooter range has been expanded, with new engines and the all-new Liberty, an extensively revamped version of one of its best sellers.

A 2025 Aprilia Tuono 457.

Aprilia Tuono 457

This new model uses the technical platform of the recently presented RS 457 as a base, and is designed to meet the mobility and fun requirements of young motorcyclists all over the world. It’s the most non-conformist and rebellious Tuono that has ever been, and whilst it retains the core features of all Tuono bikes, the new model boasts an all-new look, designed to satisfy the needs and desires of the market at which it is aimed. It is distinguished by its record-breaking power/weight ratio (just 59 kg dry weight for 35kW of power) – the maximum possible for a motorbike that can be ridden with an A2 licence – for an extremely fun and dynamic ride that is also easy and accessible to all. The technical features are top of the range: aluminum frame (the only one of its kind in this segment) and cutting-edge electronics, including Ride by Wire throttle, three Riding Modes, ABS and traction control. The Tuono 457 is powered by a generous latest-generation parallel twin-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 35 kW (47.6 hp) at 9,400 rpm and torque of 43.5 Nm at 6,700 rpm, 82% of which is already available at 3,000 rpm.

A 2025 Aprilia Tuareg Rally.

Aprilia Tuareg Rally

This model is the most specialised Tuareg on the market, largely derived from the Aprilia Racing version of the bike, which won both the Africa Eco Race and the Italian Motorally championship: it is a true benchmark among two-cylinder bikes dedicated to the most demanding off-road conditions. Compared to the already superb Tuareg, the standard equipment is particularly impressive – clearly inspired by racing, it is designed for more off-road use, and features a high front mudguard, a new aluminium sump guard, new, more robust hand guards and a new chain guide. The saddle and handlebars have been raised, making the bike more suitable for riding whilst standing. The spoked wheels feature a narrow Ergal channel, and are fitted with tube-type tyres, while the Kayaba suspension with its notable 240 mm travel is fitted with internal components designed for enduro use. The engine has been updated in several areas, and now features more direct off-road mapping. The SC Project exhaust has a titanium muffler, while the weight is just 199 kg in running order.

New Aprilia Factory range

The Factory name sets the most exclusive, premium versions of Aprilia sports bikes apart from the competition: these models are recognised by fans for their racing-derived refinement, which translates into a unique riding experience both on the track and on the road. The new RS 660 is now also available in the Factory equipment versions, and has Öhlins multi-adjustable suspension as standard, as well as dedicated graphics. All versions
of the RS 660 now have numerous new features: the fairing is fitted with new aerodynamic wings that increase stability, while the on-board electronics – which were already top-of-the-range on the previous version – now come with launch control and a new colour instrument panel. With a more powerful 105 hp engine and a weight of just 183 kg in running order, the power-to-weight ratio has also been further optimised. ENGINE

The Z900 ABS in-line 4-cylinder engine provides a crisp and smooth throttle response, perfectly complementing its light and agile handling, allowing riders to fully enjoy spirited riding. The bike is exhilarating yet approachable, with a seamless off-on power transition that makes control the most satisfying aspect of the ride. The 948cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke in-line 4-cylinder engine revs quickly and delivers strong mid-range power, pulling all the way to the redline for an exhilarating experience.

The bore and stroke measurements of 73.4 x 56.0mm were chosen to deliver the desired engine characteristics. Power delivery is smooth and linear, with enhanced low-end torque and the ability to rev quickly from 6,000 rpm, offering a silky-smooth response at mid-to-high rpm ranges for excellent drivability.

New updates include a revised cam profile that improves fuel economy and increases torque at lower rpm, which is beneficial for city riding and exiting slower corners.

The engine’s downdraft throttle bodies ensure intake air travels the shortest possible distance, contributing to enhanced performance, while good over-rev characteristics help prevent sudden power drop-off at high rpm.

The new Electronic Throttle Valves (a.k.a. Ride By Wire) allow the ECU to control both fuel (via injectors) and air (via throttle valves) intake, ensuring smooth and natural engine response with optimal output. This system also contributes to linear acceleration and improved fuel efficiency, with throttle bores of 36mm offering an ideal mid-range response. Thanks to the electronically controlled throttle, both up-and-down quick shifter (KQS) and cruise control are available, enhancing rider comfort and convenience.

New ECU settings provide a more linear power delivery, making the Z900 ABS more enjoyable to ride. Revised ignition timing across the rpm range has led to a 16% improvement in fuel economy, and CO2 emissions have been reduced from 132 g/km to 117 g/km compared to the previous model.

The intake and exhaust valves, measuring 29mm and 24mm respectively, are designed to enhance the thrilling mid-to-high rpm power. The pistons, formed using a casting process, are lightweight and rigid, with unnecessary material removed and hollows created to achieve optimal thickness. This gives the pistons a weight comparable to forged pistons. A V-groove on the piston’s second land helps control pressure between the piston rings, preventing top ring flutter and maintaining a better gas seal, reducing blow-by gas and oil consumption.

The die-cast cylinder balances weight and rigidity, with an open-deck design that contributes to weight savings. Connecting passageways between cylinders reduce pumping loss, enhancing high-rpm performance. The lightweight crankshaft design also plays a role in the Z900 ABS quick-revving character, while a secondary balancer, driven by a gear on the crankshaft’s sixth web, ensures smoother engine operation. The design of the engine and its covers lends the Z900 ABS a light, mechanical look, contributing to the engine’s compact, condensed appearance.

The Z900 ABS air intake and exhaust system are designed to enhance the rider’s experience with both performance and sound. The airbox shape was developed based on acoustic testing, creating a clear and evocative intake note that delights and exhilarates the rider. The sound frequency varies with engine speed, adding to the riding experience, particularly at high rpm. The airbox inlet is positioned upwards, making the intake sound more audible to the rider. Additionally, a dividing wall in the upper case enhances the clarity of the intake note. Intake funnels of varying lengths (50mm for the outer pair and 150mm for the inner pair) offer a balance between performance and sound, with the longer funnels boosting low-to-mid rpm performance, while the shorter ones contribute to the stimulating intake sound.

The exhaust system features a 4-into-1-pre-chamber-into-silencer design, with unitized header pipes and pre-chamber. The 35mm exhaust headers enhance high-rpm performance while keeping noise levels low at idle. Joint pipes between the exhaust headers improve mid-range torque for a better riding experience. A 5.5-liter pre-chamber boosts environmental performance, allowing for a smaller silencer that contributes to mass centralization and lower noise levels at idle. The silencer’s dual-chamber internal design improves both performance and the exhaust sound. Catalyzers in the collector pipe and pre-chamber contribute to clean emissions. The compact silencer design complements the stylish Z design, with stainless steel used for the end cap and silencer cover to add a premium touch while maintaining a lightweight and compact appearance.

For the transmission and gearing, new optimized gear ratios were developed in coordination with the Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) system. Together with fuel injection settings, they enable smooth shifting while using the quick shifter. A lightweight 525-size chain and machined rear sprocket further reduce mechanical loss in the drivetrain, enhancing the engine’s performance.

The Assist & Slipper Clutch, inspired by race technology, provides a back-torque limiting function with a light feel at the lever. It uses two cams: an assist cam and a slipper cam. The assist cam functions by pulling the clutch hub and operating plate together, which compresses the clutch plates. This reduces the total clutch spring load, making the clutch lever easier to pull. When excessive engine braking occurs during quick or accidental downshifts, the slipper cam disengages the clutch hub and operating plate, reducing pressure on the clutch plates to help prevent rear tire hopping and skidding.

KAWASAKI CORNERING MANAGEMENT FUNCTION (KCMF)

Kawasaki’s Cornering Management Function (KCMF) leverages advanced programming and minimal hardware to provide the ECU with a precise real-time understanding of the chassis dynamics. This proprietary dynamic modeling program examines multiple parameters to adapt to changing road and tire conditions. Using the latest evolution of Kawasaki’s advanced modeling software and feedback from a compact IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout a corner—from entry, through the apex, to exit—modulating brake force and engine power to ensure smooth transitions and help riders maintain their intended line.

On the Z900 ABS, KCMF utilizes IMU feedback to enhance the function of KTRC (traction management and wheel-lift management) and the ABS system (pitching management and corner braking management). The enhanced ABS uses IMU feedback to calculate the motorcycle’s lean angle and adjust brake force when riders apply brakes mid-turn (e.g., during trail braking), increase brake pressure in a corner to avoid obstacles or encounter unexpected surface changes like leaves, sand, or wet patches. By modulating brake force, the KCMF helps to prevent erratic behavior or slippage, allowing riders to maintain their intended line through the corner or come to a controlled stop.

This comprehensive monitoring and adjustment facilitate a seamless transition between acceleration and braking, enhancing the overall stability and performance of the motorcycle during cornering.

ENHANCED CHASSIS ORIENTATION AWARENESS

The Z900 ABS features enhanced chassis orientation awareness which is achieved through the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The new IMU system monitors inertia across six degrees of freedom, measuring acceleration along the longitudinal, transverse, and vertical axes, as well as roll rate, yaw rate, and pitch rate. This additional feedback provides a clearer, real-time picture of the chassis orientation, allowing for more precise management and control.

KAWASAKI TRACTION CONTROL (KTRC)
KTRC offers three modes to cover a wide range of riding conditions, enhancing sport riding performance and providing confidence on low-traction surfaces. Riders can select from Mode 1, which prioritizes forward acceleration; Mode 2, which balances acceleration performance and rider reassurance; and Mode 3, which facilitates smooth riding on challenging surfaces. The system can also be turned off for those who prefer manual control.

In Mode 1, sophisticated programming allows a degree of slip to maximize acceleration, with the system monitoring parameters such as front and rear wheel speed and various engine, machine, and rider inputs. The software bases its dynamic analysis on the chassis’ orientation relative to the road surface, adapting to corner camber and gradient without needing input from the IMU. This complex analysis helps predict and address unfavorable traction conditions, minimizing power drops and ensuring smooth operation by confirming conditions every 5 milliseconds and using ignition cut and airflow control via the Electronic Throttle Valves for quick reactions.

Modes 2 and 3 employ the same logic and control as Mode 1 during normal operation. However, when excessive rear wheel spin is detected, the system retards ignition timing and reduces engine output to regain grip, resulting in a natural feel and smooth engagement. Mode 3, being the most intrusive, assists riders in negotiating challenging patches like train tracks or manhole covers and extended stretches of wet pavement, cobblestone, or gravel. It also limits wheel spin when starting on low-traction surfaces, enhancing confidence and control.

IMU-ENHANCED ABS

When braking in a straight line, the IMU feedback also helps manage pitching by adjusting brake pressure to reduce rear wheel lift during heavy braking as weight shifts forward. Specially selected settings ensure the right balance between city riding and sport riding, delivering the best performance for different riding conditions.

POWER MODES

A choice between full power and low power modes allows riders to adjust power delivery to suit their preferences and riding conditions. In both modes, the output at lower RPM remains the same, but low power mode limits the overall output to approximately 75% of full power and provides a milder throttle response. The reduction in power and throttle response varies depending on engine speed (RPM), throttle position, and gear position, offering a customizable riding experience tailored to different scenarios.

INTEGRATED RIDING MODES

The Z900 ABS features integrated riding modes that link Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC) and Power Modes, allowing riders to efficiently adjust traction control and power delivery for different riding conditions. Riders can choose from three pre-set modes—Sport, Road, and Rain—or opt for a manual setting (Rider) where each system can be set independently. Sport mode is designed for spirited, sporty riding, while the Road mode accommodates a wide range of scenarios, from city commutes to highway cruises and rural roads. The Rain mode provides additional reassurance when riding on wet surfaces.

Switching between riding modes is convenient and can be done while riding using the button on the left handlebar, ensuring that riders can adapt to changing conditions seamlessly. The ability to customize the Rider mode further allows riders to tailor the bike’s performance to their specific preferences, making the Z900 ABS adaptable to various riding styles and environments.

KAWASAKI QUICK SHIFTER (KQS)

Complementing the exhilarating engine on the Z900 ABS is the contactless-type KQS which enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and easy deceleration. During acceleration, the system detects the shift lever actuation and signals the ECU to retard ignition for clutchless gear engagement. During deceleration, KQS automatically controls engine speed for clutchless downshifting. The updated KQS now functions at a lower RPM, enhancing its versatility.

ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL

Kawasaki’s electronic cruise control system on the Z900 ABS allows riders to maintain a desired speed with the simple press of a button, eliminating the need to constantly apply the throttle. This feature reduces stress on the right hand during long-distance travel, promoting relaxed cruising and enhancing overall riding comfort. The system is conveniently operated from the left handle, where it can be engaged with the touch of a button, making it user-friendly and easily accessible.

Once the desired speed is set, the engine output is automatically adjusted via the Electronic Throttle Valves to maintain the speed, even when encountering ascending or descending grades. Riders can adjust the set speed using the “+” and “-” buttons for fine-tuning. The electronic cruise control disengages when the brake lever, clutch lever, or rear brake pedal are operated, or when gears are shifted. Additionally, closing the throttle beyond the “zero-throttle” position or large traction control interventions will automatically disengage the system.

CHASSIS

The lightweight trellis frame of the Z900 ABS is made from high-tensile steel, with components following an ideal pipeline design. Wherever possible, the frame lines are kept straight, and when bends are necessary, their angles are minimized to ensure optimal stress distribution. This design trims away all unnecessary material, resulting in an extremely lightweight frame, which is key to the Z900 ABS nimble handling.

The engine is rigidly mounted at five points—forward and aft of the cylinder head, behind the cylinder, and at the top and bottom of the crankcases—making it a stressed member, which significantly contributes to the lightweight frame and chassis.

The updated gusset behind the head pipe adjusts the rigidity balance for improved maneuverability, while the area around the pivot on the left side has been revised to accommodate the quick shifter. The lightweight extruded aluminum swingarm reduces unsprung weight, enhancing the bike’s agile handling.

The twin-tube rear frame design features mostly straight lines, which help minimize vibrations felt through the seat. Additionally, the rear frame’s rails follow a less upswept line, allowing for more seat cushioning and contributing to the Z900 ABS optimized riding position.

SUSPENSION

The Z900 ABS features a 41mm inverted front fork with stepless rebound damping and spring preload adjustability in the left fork tube. The adjusters are conveniently located on the fork top cap for easy access.

Updated front and rear suspension settings provide a more forward-leaning stance, giving the bike a more planted feel at the front. This improves stability when encountering bumps or gaps mid-corner, boosting rider confidence for a more enjoyable sport-riding experience.

The Horizontal Back-Link rear suspension system positions the shock unit and linkage above the swingarm, contributing to mass centralization and ensuring the suspension remains unaffected by heat from the exhaust. The rear shock also offers rebound and preload adjustability, delivering a balance between sporty performance and comfort, ideal for both street riding and spirited rides in the hills.

BRAKES AND WHEELS

Dual 300mm front disc brakes provide ample braking power while enhancing the bike’s sporty image. The front features new dual radial-mounted opposed 4-piston calipers, which contribute to stronger braking, improved brake feel, and lighter weight, making control easier during sport riding.
At the rear, a new 250mm disc brake with revised brake pad and brake line materials improves control. Front and rear ABS complement the powerful disc brakes.

Stylish star-pattern 5-spoke wheels are not only visually striking but also lightweight, contributing to the bike’s nimble handling and light appearance. Low unsprung weight, achieved through components like the swingarm and wheels, plays a key role in the Z900 ABS light, agile handling. MotoGP: Season Finale Set For Barcelona

MotoGP™ can now confirm the 2024 curtain closer will be held in Barcelona. We will return to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the World Championship will be decided, on the original dates of the season finale: the 15th to the 17th of November. The Grand Prix will be held in solidarity with the Community of Valencia.

The event was previously set to take place in Valencia before the devastating flooding that has impacted the region so heavily. Being the last Grand Prix of the season, given the sporting context the Championship is in, and the positive impact the event has, we owe it to the our fans, our paddock, the sport, and Valencia to hold the event.

Instead of racing in Valencia, MotoGP™ will race for Valencia. For all those affected, and the entire Community of Valencia.

MotoGP™ made the request to the authorities to race in Barcelona as it was the best possible choice. The track is the easiest option for fans who were already planning to attend the MotoGP™ season finale. The location and circuit are also the most efficient choice, providing a close to seamless alternative for personnel and logistics.

The event will be organised by MotoGP™ and we remain committed to our mission to have a positive impact on people, place and planet wherever we race. In this case, racing near the Community of Valencia will also allow the paddock to put that into action even more directly.

More information for fans who wish to attend to see the 2024 title fight decided will be shared as soon as possible, as well as the various initiatives which will be held through the weekend to support relief for Valencia.

BMW's concept F 450 GS. Photo courtesy BMW.

The new Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires, with an updated compound, offer a more planted feel for improved performance.

ERGONOMICS
The Z900 ABS wide, flat handlebar and relaxed, sporty riding position enable riders to fully embrace its sporty street riding potential. This position blends control and comfort, allowing for enjoyment across various riding situations. The design of the relationship between the pegs, seat, and handlebars enhances communication between the rider and the machine, fostering a confidence-inspiring feeling of control that complements the bike’s agile handling. The wide handlebar not only contributes to the Supernaked Z styling but also provides a wide grip that facilitates better control, while the 33º steering angle enhances low-speed maneuverability. A narrow rear fuel tank allows riders to grip the bike easily with their knees, and the overall narrow frame and engine design keep the rider’s knees and feet close together for improved comfort.

The sporty seat has been updated with thicker urethane in its rear portion, enhancing riding comfort. Its slim front and wider rear shape feature rounded corners on the left and right sides, providing additional comfort to the legs and facilitating ground reach. Thanks to the flatter seat rails of the rear frame, the seat base can be positioned lower, ensuring that even with the thicker seat urethane, the reach to the ground remains comparable to the previous model. This improved cushioning, along with a comfortable reach to the ground, allows a wide range of riders to enjoy the Z900 ABS. The new flatter seat shape not only enables the rider to shift positions comfortably when cruising but also allows for easier weight shifting during sport riding.

The seat is easily removable without tools, providing convenient access to the battery, fuse box, and toolkit. Additionally, the handlebar features rubber-mounted bar-ends that dampen vibrations, while the aluminum fat-type handlebar improves rigidity and adds to the overall sense of pride in ownership. The controls have been relocated from around the display to the handlebars for enhanced convenience, and both the clutch and brake levers are adjustable in five ways to accommodate various hand sizes for increased comfort. The rider footpegs include rubber pads to minimize vibration transmission through the feet, while rubber-mounted resin heel guards further reduce vibrations.

Z900 SE ABS ADDITIONAL FEATURES

In addition to the standard Z900 ABS, Kawasaki offers a Special Edition model that features higher-grade suspension with an Öhlins rear shock, Brembo front brake components, distinctive colors and graphics, and other upgraded components. Like the Z900 ABS, the Special Edition model is equipped with a 41mm inverted front fork, which provides reassuring handling in various riding conditions, from urban environments to back roads. This high-grade fork provides compression and rebound damping adjustability, along with stepless adjustable preload, allowing for precise settings tailored to the rider’s preferences and style, as well as enhancing the bike’s ability to absorb bumps. The gold-colored fork outer tubes complement the Öhlins rear shock.

The Öhlins S46 rear shock, features an aluminum body with a single-tube design, a large 46mm piston, and separated internal oil and gas chambers, resulting in superior grip and handling. Additionally, the rear suspension is equipped with a remote preload adjuster, enabling adjustments without tools, making it convenient for tandem riding or when carrying luggage. Along with a plusher overall ride feel, the improved initial movement of the suspension during cornering enhances the sense of contact with the road.

The Z900 SE also boasts 300mm Brembo front discs, M4.32 radial-mount monobloc calipers (same specifications as those on the Z H2), and pads, complemented by a Nissin (Hitachi Astemo) radial-pump master cylinder and stainless-steel braided lines (available in all markets except China). This braking system delivers greater stopping power and offers a linear progression when operating the lever, facilitating precise control. Moreover, the model features a high-quality two-tone seat designed with a leather-like appearance and a hand-stitch-style sewing line along the thigh area. For added convenience, a USB Type-C outlet is mounted inside the front cowl, enhancing the overall riding experience.

KAWASAKI GENUINE ACCESSORIES

A variety of Kawasaki genuine accessories are available to enhance the Z900 ABS sharp, sporty aesthetics while also providing added comfort and convenience for longer rides. Available accessories may vary by market. Among these, the ERGO-FIT high seat provides increased comfort, with a height difference of 20mm between the taller and the standard seat. Additionally, the comfortable rear seat has been made 15mm thicker to improve passenger comfort. The pillion seat cover complements the compact tail cowl, accentuating the tail’s sharp lines.

For enhanced wind protection and sporty looks, a large screen is also available. A USB Type-C outlet, which comes standard on the SE model, offers a discreet and convenient charging point for electronic devices. Other available accessories include a tank bag, rear flap, radiator screen, frame sliders, engine covers, front axle sliders, tank pad, and knee pads. An anti-reflection film for the instrument panel is also an option. All accessories are designed to be bolt-on, meaning no modifications to the bodywork are required for installation.
