MotoGP: Pirro Subbing For Injured Martin At Mugello

Michele Pirro will be substituting Jorge Martin at the Italian Grand Prix.

After listening to the opinions and the reflections made by the doctors, Jorge Martin will return in time for the Catalunya Grand Prix.

The conditions of the Spanish rider are without a doubt improving, but for him to return in time for Mugello does not seem to be the best choice due to how tough and demanding that circuit is.

Therefore, Michele Pirro (Ducati test rider) will be carrying the Pramac Racing colours with Johann Zarco in the Italian Grand Prix.

MotoGP: Dovizioso Will Continue Testing Aprilia In 2021

COLLABORATION CONTINUES BETWEEN ANDREA DOVIZIOSO AND APRILIA RACING

AFTER THE DATES IN JEREZ AND MUGELLO, ANDREA WILL BE ON THE RS-GP FOR A SERIES OF TESTS THROUGHOUT THE 2021 SEASON

After the first date in Jerez, spent getting acquainted, and the one in Mugello, hindered by weather conditions, Andrea Dovizioso and Aprilia RS-GP will continue dating.

This means that the collaboration between the Italian champion and Aprilia Racing is now more structured, with a series of tests expected throughout the 2021 season.

The next date is schedule for 23 and 24 June in Misano, where Dovizioso will be on the track along with the Aprilia Racing test team, which already hosted him for the first two outings.

The 2021 Aprilia RS-GP, ridden in the races by Aleix Espargaró and Lorenzo Savadori, has cut a fine figure in the initial rounds of the current championship, proving to be significantly more competitive than in previous seasons. Work on developing the project, which was brought to an abrupt halt just after it started in 2020 due to the limitations imposed by the Covid situation, resumed this year and will be able to progress further, thanks in part to Andrea Dovizioso’s contributions.

ANDREA DOVIZIOSO

“Since I wasn’t able to test at Mugello in dry conditions, I’m pleased that Aprilia Racing asked me to continue the work we started in Jerez and to be able to provide my contribution to developing the bike. I think this will be beneficial for both of us – for me, to continue training on a MotoGP bike in anticipation of a possible return in 2022, and for Aprilia to receive what they feel to be interesting information. For this reason, we decided to do more tests.”

ROMANO ALBESIANO – APRILIA RACING TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

“Our RS-GP project underwent a huge revolution last year and now we can finally push on development. The first part of the 2021 season has been very positive and rather evident improvements have been seen. Now, being able to set up a work schedule with Andrea is a great opportunity to accelerate and consolidate this growth. In the first two outings, we already touched on a lot of issues that we will now be able to look at more in depth together, trying to get the best performance out of our very young project.”

World Superbike: Aruba.it Racing Ducati Previews Motorland Aragon

The wait is over! Scott Redding, Michael Rinaldi and the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team ready for the 2021 WorldSBK season

The 2021 WorldSBK season finally gets underway after a long winter of private testing that brought the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team in Misano, Barcellona, Aragon and Navarra. The Motorland circuit of Aragon will be the opening round of 2021, with Scott Redding and Michael Ruben Rinaldi riding their Ducati Panigale V4 R.

After an exciting rookie season that saw him fighting for the title until the last race weekend of 2020, Scott Redding will be at the starting line with a wealth of experience and unchanged objectives for the title race.

For Michael Rinaldi, it will be the official debut on the Panigale V4 R of Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team on the circuit that saw him winning his first GP in WorldSBK last season.

Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #45)

“We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. We have worked hard over the past few months and I cannot wait to be back on track. Aragon may not be my favorite circuit but during the tests, we have proved that we can be competitive. Last season brought me a lot of experience: I got to know new circuits, I learned to understand the tires, and I got familiar with the format of WorldSBK: these factors will be very useful to fight for the world title”.

Michael Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #21)

“We go to Aragon with great enthusiasm. It is a new championship, very special; I used the long winter break to work with my team, get to know them better, and to adapt to the bike. It will be the first race for all of us and we will have to do our best from Friday. I am very confident because the Motorland is a track that adapts very well to both my riding style and the bike. The key will be to keep calm during weekend and try to get the best results as possible. I can’t wait to get on track on Friday.”

Northern Talent Cup: Series Continues This Weekend At Oschersleben

Advantage Gurecky and Luciano as the NTC returns to Oschersleben

So far the two veterans have shared the wins. But now we return to familiar turf for the fastest rider – and rookie – in testing

Thursday, 20 May 2021

Round 1 of the 2021 Northern Talent Cup saw the field pitched against difficult conditions in both races, and in both races there were two riders sharing the top two steps: Lorenz Luciano (Junior Black Knights Team) first, and then Jakub Gurecky (JRT Brno Circuit) as the Czech rider absolutely dominated on Sunday. With a win and a second place apiece so it’s parity in the points at the top too. Now the NTC returns to the venue for pre-season testing, however, where rookie Rossi Moor (FAIRIUM Next Generation Riders Team) laid down the gauntlet in April.

At times the Hungarian was a second clear on the timesheets in testing, but the circumstances of returning for Round 2 are a little different. Moor once again showed his speed at Le Mans and took pole, but when the lights went out to race, he hit some bad luck and trouble. A crash in Race 1 and then a more muted ride to a point in 15th in Race 2 won’t be what he was hoping for, and he’ll doubtless be out to reset and take his place back near the top at Round 2.

Gurecky must be the rider walking tallest back into Oschersleben though. The Czech rider was in another postcode on Sunday and made the tough conditions look easy. Luciano, however, followed up his well-fought win on Saturday with his trademark consistency from last year once again to take a solid 20 points. Will they be the two veterans to beat again?

Jonas Kocourek (JRT Brno Circuit) and Jacopo Hosciuc (Hos Racing Team) were also fast at Le Mans, each taking a podium and a DNF from near the front in Round 1, and they had speed in preseason. They’re now playing catch up a little in the points, but with a much longer 2021 planned there’s time to claw back the deficit. Can they iron out the mistakes and take the fight to Gurecky and Luciano?

The likes of Niklas Kitzbichler (Racing-Team-Kitzbichler), Swiss rookie Lenoxx Phommara (Phommara Team), Kas Beekmans (Team KNMV) and Dustin Schneider (PrüstelGP Junior Team) also put together some solid top fives and flashes of speed at Le Mans, so they’ll want to keep that rolling and home in more on the front, and a few fast faces – like Tibor Varga (Forty Racing Team) – will also be looking for a little less drama at Round 2.

Two more races see the NTC get straight back in action this weekend at Oschersleben, with another 50 points on the table. Will it be status quo at the front or another shake up at the track that hosted preseason testing? We’ll find out on Sunday, with Race 1 at 9:45 (GMT +2) and Race 2 at 14:40.
