ARAI ANNOUNCES NEW NICKY RESET CORSAIR-X HELMET!
July 29, 2021 – Arai is proud to present the new Nicky Reset graphic on the Arai Corsair-X. This stunning design is the very special graphic worn by Nicky during MotoGP testing, becoming an iconic design after those appearances and requested by fans ever since.
Now, this amazing design will be available to the public.

In celebration of the launch, Arai and Fresh N’ Lean athlete Sean Dylan Kelly will debut the Nicky Reset Arai Corsair-X at the MotoAmerica Superbikes at Minnesota race on July 30 – August 1st in Brainerd Minnesota. Sean Dylan Kelly comes into Brainerd leading the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship by 31 points.
The Corsair-X has long been renowned as one of the most advanced, highest quality helmets available anywhere in the world. It represents the culmination of Arai’s vast experience in helmet design and unwavering focus on rider protection. And with features like the ingenious VAS shield mechanism, dramatically improved airflow and ventilation, and an odor resistant liner, the Corsair-X has certainly earned its place as Arai’s flagship model
“We are extremely excited to be able to make the new Nicky Reset graphic available to his fans on the Corsair-X,” said Brian Weston, Managing Director of Arai Helmet, Inc. “There have been so many requests for this Reset graphic over the years and now we are thrilled to be able to offer it to our customers.”

A Statement from the Hayden Family:
Sometime after Nicky’s passing, the family collectively agreed that we wanted to keep his memory and legacy alive to honor all that he had achieved and all the lives he had touched in such a short period of time.
One of the most recognized things we thought that can be immediately connected to Nicky was his helmet replicas. Over the years Nicky had dozens of designs that fans around the world chose to wear while riding as a sign of loyalty and respect for him.
It is for those fans that we chose to work with Arai to continue producing Nicky’s replicas. If it weren’t for the fans and their continued loyalty and desire for new Nicky’s designs, we wouldn’t continue. But the fans continue to ask for Nicky replicas, so we feel compelled to make them available.
Since his passing, we have produced replicas Nicky wore in the heat of competition, and even brought back one of his all-time fan favorites – the Nicky Laguna. Now we find ourselves with a demand for a fan favorite that Nicky did wear, but was never offered as a replica.
The Reset was a special one-off design that Nicky wore during off-season MotoGP testing, symbolizing his return to a familiar ride and visualized his need to reset himself for that challenge.
At that time there was talk about making the Reset a replica, but for one reason or another, it just never happened.
Now, as demand for a new design started to build, we worked with Arai to review fan feedback and found quite a bit for the Reset design. Then considering the current world situation, we thought the idea of the Reset was perfect timing.
Therefore, the Hayden Family and Arai will again honor Nicky’s memory and keep his legacy alive with this latest Nicky Reset replica.
We wish to thank all the fans who asked for this design and wear it proudly, keeping Nicky’s memory alive.
The Nicky Reset Corsair-X helmet will be available through your favorite Arai dealers and Arai online retailers in early August 2021.

Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha Superbike rider Josh Herrin has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not race in the MotoAmerica event this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway, in Brainerd, Minnesota.
“At the same time I landed [Thursday in Minneapolis], I got the results that I’m positive for COVID,” Herrin exclusively told Roadracingworld.com via telephone Thursday evening. “I was going to stay home. I told Richard [Stanboli, Herrin’s Crew Chief and Team Owner], ‘I don’t feel good. This doesn’t feel normal.’
“I got a [rapid-result] test on Monday [July 26] and it was negative. On Wednesday [July 28], I went to urgent care just to see what was going on, to see if something else was going on. They found nothing.
“So, Tom Halverson [Supervisor, Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.] asked me to go get a regular [PCR] COVID test that takes 24-48 hours to get the results. So, I got that.
“I had already cancelled my flight on Wednesday and moved it to Thursday morning. And then yesterday [Wednesday] I changed it from Thursday morning to Friday morning. I was just going to skip Friday practice and qualify on Saturday just to give myself more time to rest up.
“I woke up today and didn’t have the fever. So, I just changed my flight to come out today. As soon as I landed, I got my email [with the positive test results]. This kind of sucks.”
Herrin said he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Fresh N’ Lean Attack Performance Yamaha recruited two-time MotoAmerica Supersport Champion and former team member JD Beach to come to Brainerd and ride in Herrin’s place. If Herrin had started feeling better the team would have fielded Beach, Herrin, and Herrin’s teammate Jake Gagne, according to Stanboli.
The Doors are Open to Franky’s Cave – Full Access with Franco Morbidelli
Dainese Releases a Mini-Series With an Exclusive Look Inside to MotoGP’s Rising Star
It’s not often you’re granted entry into the garage of a MotoGP star, let alone a guided tour from Franco Morbidelli. Though, over the course of this 3 part series, Morbidelli looks back on his early days of racing, details the journeys to his successes, and of course, unveils the collection of his Dainese racing suits. It’s a rare look behind the scenes that can only be shown by Morbidelli himself.
EP.02 – The Rider | Almost as soon as he could walk, Morbidelli was on moto bike and now, he recognizes and appreciates the journey of becoming The Rider he is today.
The new BMW R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B: “The Big Boxer” as the Grand American Tourer for luxurious travelling and as Bagger for cool American highway cruising.
With the new R 18 Transcontinental, BMW Motorrad is adding a Grand American Tourer to the R 18 family as well as the R 18 B “Bagger”, which is particularly popular in the USA. As with the previous R 18 models, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B combine the thrilling power of the “Big Boxer” with a classic chassis concept based on historical models, exclusive equipment and a stylish design.
This makes the R 18 Transcontinental ideal for travelling and long-distance rides in American riding style – both for riding solo and with a pillion and luggage. The R 18 B, on the other hand, is designed as a “rider’s machine” delivering emotional driving pleasure and ideal for cool touring and cruising.
Special features of the new R 18 Transcontinental include:
Front fairing with high wind shield, wind deflector and flaps. Cockpit with four analogue round instruments and 10.25 inch TFT colour display, additional headlamp, Marshall sound system, engine protection bars, cases, top case, seat heating, chrome trim and an engine in Silver metallic.
In contrast, the new R 18 B does without a top case and, in the style of a “bagger”, offers a low windshield, a slimmer seat and a matt black metallic engine among other things.
The most powerful BMW boxer engine of all time with full torque.
The heart of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B is a 2-cylinder boxer engine, the “Big Boxer”, which is a completely newly development for the R 18 models. Not only its impressive appearance, but also its technical specifications show its ties to the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have provided inspiring riding experiences for more than seven decades since BMW Motorrad began manufacturing motorcycles in 1923. The most powerful 2-cylinder flat twin engine ever built in motorbike series production boasts an engine capacity of 1,802 cc. It generates an output of 67 kW (91 hp) at 4 750 rpm. In the 2,000 to 4,000 rpm range, it delivers more than 150 Nm of torque at all times as well as elemental pulling power and sonorous sound.
Double-loop tube frame made of steel and a backbone made of sheet metal formed parts and rear swinging arm with enclosed axle drive in rigid-frame design.
The heart of the chassis of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B is a double-loop tube steel frame made of steel with a backbone of sheet metal formed parts. Its design perpetuates the longstanding BMW Motorrad tradition of this frame type. The particularly high manufacturing quality and attention to detail are also evident in barely perceptible details such as the welded joints between steel tubes and cast or forged parts. Like the legendary BMW R 5, the rear swinging arm, which is manufactured in a similar design, encloses the rear axle drive in the same style using bolted connections.
Telescopic fork with fork sleeves, cantilever suspension strut, light alloy cast wheels and disc brakes in combination with
BMW Motorrad Full Integral ABS.
The suspension elements of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B deliberately dispense with any adjustment options that the rider has to make. Instead, a telescopic fork and a directly swinging-arm mounted cantilever suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and automatically adjustable spring preload ensure superior light-alloy cast wheel control and responsive suspension comfort.
In order to achieve the best possible ride response even when riding with a pillion and fully loaded, the rear suspension strut features travel-dependent damping and automatic load compensation. As in the legendary BMW R 5, the tubes of the telescopic fork are encased in fork sleeves. The fork tube diameter is 49 mm, suspension travel is 120 mm at the front and rear. The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B are decelerated by a double disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear in conjunction with four-piston fixed callipers and BMW Motorrad Full Integral ABS.
Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) as standard.
Active Cruise Control (ACC) – cruise control with integrated distance control for relaxed touring as an ex works option.
The R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B are already equipped as standard with DCC electronic cruise control (Dynamic Cruise Control). DCC automatically regulates the riding speed set by the rider. Dynamic means that the pre-selected speed is kept constant even when riding downhill. Active Cruise Control (ACC) allows relaxed gliding with distance control – without the rider having to adjust the speed to the vehicle in front. With the aid of radar sensors integrated in the front fairing, the motorcycle is either accelerated automatically to adjust the speed or the new, standard full integral braking system is applied for deceleration purposes, depending on the situation on the road. ACC also ensures particularly safe cornering. Where necessary, the cornering control system automatically reduces the speed, giving the rider the right speed for a comfortable and safe banking angle.
Coherent ergonomics for best possible motorcycle control.
The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B feature a casual, so-called “mid-mounted footpeg” position of the footrests, entirely in keeping with the BMW Motorrad philosophy. This classic position behind the cylinders is not only typical of BMW, it also allows a relaxed and active riding position for the best possible motorcycle control. The R 18 Transcontinental is equipped with an especially comfortable seat and seat heating as standard to ensure long-distance riding comfort even in two-person operation. The R 18 B has a somewhat slimmer two-person seat bench.
The new R 18 Transcontinental is fitted as standard with running boards and the new
R 18 B with wider and more comfortable footrests than the R 18.
Cockpit featuring classically designed round instruments and 10.25” TFT colour screen with map navigation for convenient route planning and extensive connectivity as standard.
The cockpit, specially designed for the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B, with four analogue round instruments and a 10.25 inch TFT colour display, blends into the classic appearance harmoniously. Featuring the iconic “BERLIN BUILT” lettering, it follows the classic style of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B on the one hand, and on the other hand offers a perfectly readable TFT colour display providing a maximum of functionality and information.
Three riding modes as well as ASC and MSR as standard for a high degree of riding fun and safety. Reversing aid and Hill Start Control as an ex works option.
In order to meet individual customer needs, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B also feature the three riding modes “Rain”, “Roll” and “Rock” as standard, which is unusual in this segment. The standard equipment also includes ASC (Automatic Stability Control), which ensures a high level of riding safety.
In addition, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B are equipped with an engine drag torque control (MSR) as standard. In addition to other options, a reversing aid makes manoeuvring a comfortable affair and the Hill Start Control function makes starting off uphill easy.
The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B: Iconic streamlining combined with rigid frame look and modern technology.
The new R 18 Transcontinental stands out as a luxurious tourer and the new R 18 B as a stylish “Bagger” with its characteristic “streamlining”, which perfectly integrates the front fairing, cases and, in the case of the R 18 Transcontinental, the top case. They transfer the iconic style of the great tourers and cruisers of yesteryear to the present day. The purist design, which has been shaped by numerous BMW Motorrad classics, lives on in many details. Functional and style-defining elements such as the double-loop tube frame, the 24 litre pear-drop fuel tank, the open universal shaft drive or the double-line paintwork (ex works option) are reminiscent of legendary BMW boxer motorcycles. The suspension also harks back splendidly to the old days. Together with the double-sided swinging arm and a cantilever suspension strut, the rigid frame layout of the R 5 has been perfectly transferred to modern times.
Audio system with Marshall sound system: A new digital sound dimension as standard ex works.
With the Marshall sound system, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B offer an intense sound experience. Already as standard the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B feature a sound system developed in collaboration with the British manufacturer Marshall, featuring 2-way speakers integrated into the front of the fairing. Black cover grilles with white Marshall lettering round off the classic look. The Marshall Gold Series Stage 1 and Stage 2 sound systems are optionally ex works to provide even more intensive listening pleasure. Up to 4 loudspeakers and 2 subwoofers with 280 watts of total output provide incomparable sound quality and “good vibrations”. For 60 years, Marshall, originally from Hanwell, London, now based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes (UK), have produced legendary guitar amplifiers used by the world’s best musicians. Since 2012 they have expanded their audio quality into award winning headphones and active speakers designed for music lovers.
The R 18 Transcontinental First Edition and R 18 B First Edition:
Exclusive look in paint and chrome.
Right from the time of market launch, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B will be available worldwide as exclusive R 18 Transcontinental First Edition and R 18 B First Edition versions. They combine the R 18 look with exclusive features in classic black paintwork with white double-lining. Further highlights are the specially designed surfaces (Chrome Package), high-grade stitching on the seat and the “First Edition” lettering.
Large variety of parts allow for perfect customizing and optimum individualisation. Exclusive Option 719 equipment.
The Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range offers a maximum of individualisation options for tailoring the R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B to your personal taste. The design collections of milled aluminium parts familiar from the R 18 and R 18 Classic, which were created together with Roland Sands Design, are also available for the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B. With regard to audio systems, BMW Motorrad cooperates with the British manufacturer Marshall. For the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B, BMW Motorrad offers a range of particularly high-quality and exclusive optional extras as “Option 719”, such as Option 719 Galaxy Dust metallic paint finish and Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.
The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B highlights:
It’s Go-Time For MotoAmerica Support Class Racers As Series Heads To Minnesota
MotoAmerica Title Chases At A Crucial Juncture Heading To Brainerd International Raceway
IRVINE, CA (July 29, 2021) – It’s most definitely go-time for those not at the top of their respective championship point standings in the 2021 MotoAmerica Championship as the series heads to Brainerd International Raceway for the sixth of nine rounds this weekend, July 30-August 1.
That’s right. When the dust settles at BIR on Sunday afternoon, there will be just three rounds remaining in the series.
MotoAmerica is bringing AMA racing to Brainerd International Raceway for the first time in 17 years with six classes promising action aplenty. In addition to the premier HONOS Superbike class, the weekend will feature Supersport, Stock 1000, SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup, Twins Cup, and the debut of Royal Enfield’s three-round Build. Train. Race. Series that features seven women racing Royal Enfield Continental GT 650s that they have customized themselves.
Thirty-one points is by no means insurmountable, but 42 points is starting to get out of reach and that’s what his lead will be if M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Sean Dylan Kelly wins both Supersport races at BIR and his HONOS Kawasaki-mounted rival Richie Escalante finishes second in both. So far that has been the case in six races this year as Kelly has had the upper hand in winning seven times to Escalante’s two victories. Kelly, meanwhile, has only been off the podium one time this season while Escalante has had two non-podium finishes. The bottom line is that Escalante, the defending Supersport Champion, needs to turn the momentum in his favor if he is to take this title chase to the very end.
The fight for what will be third in the championship is a real battle with M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Sam Lochoff leading Landers Racing’s Rocco Landers by just three points with North East Cycle Outlet Racing’s Benjamin Smith just four more behind with only one point separating him from sixth-placed Stefano Mesa and his MESA37 Racing Kawasaki.
That’s just eight points separating four riders.
The SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup and the Stock 1000 class are on opposite ends of the racing spectrum, but both feature the closest battles for the championship – 12 points.
In the SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup class the championship battle has Scott Powersports/KTM’s Tyler Scott leading Landers Racing’s Benjamin Gloddy by just 12 points. Scott has five wins on the season, including the last three in a row, and eight podium finishes in total. Gloddy, meanwhile, has two wins and six second-place finishes and is itching to get back to the top of the podium.
Cody Wyman Racing’s Cody Wyman, a race winner from the VIR round, is third, but 68 points behind Scott.
In Stock 1000 it is HONOS HVMC Racing’s Corey Alexander with the 12-point lead over Altus Motorsports’ Jake Lewis. Alexander has three wins on his tally while Lewis has two. Travis Wyman Racing’s Travis Wyman, meanwhile, won the last round at Laguna Seca by fractions of a second over Alexander for what was his second win of the year. Wyman is third and just 20 points behind Alexander. This class battle is far from over.
Just 15 points separate Robem Engineering’s Kaleb De Keyrel from Jackson Blackmon Racing’s Jackson Blackmon in the Twins Cup Championship with De Keyrel winning his third race of the year in the last round at Laguna Seca. Blackmon was riding a hot streak heading into California with two straight wins, but he only mustered up a fourth-place finish in Monterey. There’s a good chance that Blackmon may have his new Yamaha YZF-R7 for the Brainerd round to go against De Keyrel’s Aprilia RS 660, though De Keyrel has the advantage of being one of the few current riders in the series who has raced at BIR prior to this weekend. In fact, it’s his home track as he basically learned to road race at Brainerd.
The Twins Cup has most definitely been all about machine parity in 2021 with all three brands – Aprilia, Suzuki and Yamaha – winning races. At two of the rounds, all three manufacturers were featured together on the podium.
The aforementioned Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. Series gets started this coming weekend at Brainerd International Raceway with the seven women racers set to do battle in the opening round of their three-round championship.

Now, all that is left to do is race!
“The opportunity that Royal Enfield is giving us here, is the dream. Who else is going to hand you a motorcycle, say ‘turn it into a race bike, and then race it yourself?’” said fashion designer-turned motorcycle racer Scarlett Grosselanghorst.
All seven women of the Royal Enfield BTR Road Race program are eager to put themselves and their machines to the test this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway. Former pro motocross racer CJ Lukacs summed it up best. “I’m looking forward to the go-fast portion of it,” she said with a smile.

ROYAL ENFIELD BUILD. TRAIN. RACE. ROAD RACE PROGRAM PREPARED FOR OPENING ROUND
Ladies of BTR are set to take the MotoAmerica stage at Brainerd International Raceway.
Milwaukee, WI (Thursday, July 29, 2021) – Royal Enfield’s groundbreaking BUILD. TRAIN. RACE. (BTR) Road Race program, which has invited seven women from all walks to prepare Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 motorcycles for competition and train under the mentorship of professional road racer Melissa Paris, is preparing to enter the final stage of the program this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway—RACE.
Alyssa Bridges, Becky Goebel, CJ Lukacs, Kayla Thiesler, Michaela Trumbull, Scarlett Grosselanghorst and Trisha Dahl are ready to put their hard work on the racetrack this weekend in Brainerd, Minnesota, where round six of MotoAmerica, the premiere motorcycle road racing series in North America, will host the first of three exhibition races for Royal Enfield’s BTR Road Race program. Through the support of the program’s sponsors such as BOXO USA Tools, along with Maxima, S&S, Dunlop, Ohlins, Arai, SBS and Vortex, the Royal Enfield BTR women will take to the track on Sunday, August 1, 2021 in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Watch the race live on the MotoAmerica Facebook page, Sunday, August 1, 2021.
The three-month build phase of the program, also overseen by Melissa Paris, saw seven women competitors design and construct their Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 race bikes, which were revealed to the public on June 12 at the Road America round of the MotoAmerica Championship. The participants then entered into the training phase, where the women got to push their skills on the track at Grattan Race Track in Michigan for two days, and fine tune their Continental GT 650 motorcycles.
“After months of building and training the women are ready to race,” said Breeann Poland, Marketing and Communications Lead – Royal Enfield Americas. “My nerves are through the roof. I am excited for the world to see how incredible each one of these women are and for them to finally be able to race. Melissa Paris, our sponsors and Royal Enfield have supported this program from the beginning.”
