Daytona 200: Hickman, Cooper Racing Factory Triumphs

The Triumph factory-supported PHR Performance Team is set to return to the USA this March for the Daytona 200, with Peter Hickman and Richard Cooper once again taking on the 57-lap, 200 mile race aboard their Triumph Street Triple 765 RS machines.

Now in its 83rd year, the legendary race attracts riders from all over the world. In 2024, Cooper returned to the Daytona 200 for the first time since 2008 and was a frontrunner for much of the race, briefly leading before an unfortunate crash ended his charge. Hickman, making his Daytona debut, was caught in an early incident through no fault of his own, dropping him down the order. The Isle of Man TT star fought his way back through the field and made strong progress so is keen to redress the balance this year.

The experienced duo will be looking to make amends this March as they return to the “World Center of Racing” to battle for victory on their PHR Performance Street Triples.

The British team will be in action at the Daytona International Speedway, on 6 – 8 March 2025. The lights go out for the main event at 13.10 local time, Saturday 8 March.

Steve Sargent, Triumph’s Chief Product Officer: “The Daytona 200 holds a special place in Triumph’s racing history, with Brandon Paasch taking victory in 2022 on the Street Triple 765’s debut. We’re excited to once again support Peter Hickman and Richard Cooper as they fly the Triumph flag in this iconic Florida event. Coopes and the PHR Performance team had a fantastic year in the inaugural National Sportbike Championship last year, securing the title on the Triumph Daytona 660. We’re looking forward to seeing them back in action on the Street Triple 765s as they push for victory in 2025.”

Peter Hickman, PHR Performance Team Owner and Rider: “Really excited to have backing from Triumph again for the Daytona 200 as the Triumph supported entrants. It’s great to have these strong links for PHR Performance. We had a really good year last year qualifying 6th and 7th. Daytona is a really unique place to ride and set the bikes up for and in our first year we had a pretty good year. It’s obviously a shame the race didn’t go to plan but we’re looking forward to getting back there and making amends. It’s great having Richard Cooper on the team again, he’s super experienced and a really nice guy who fits in so well with the PHR Performance team. The Street Triple 765 is working really well. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to develop the new parts with the next generation rules, working closely with Triumph. We’re supporting a couple of other teams as well including TOBC who won the Daytona 200 with our PHR Performance built engines in 2022. I’m really excited about this race and I cannot wait to get back and have a good go.”

Richard Cooper, PHR Performance Team Rider: “I’m super excited that PHR and Triumph have asked me to go back to the Daytona 200 this year. With the experience that we’ve gained, not just myself as a rider, but also as a team and the crew around me, I feel that we are in a much better position going into it this year. The PHR boys have been working hard to get the best out of the bike for us and we’ve got a great package underneath us. To finish first, first you must finish – we were fast last year, we led the race, but we weren’t there when it counted at the end. This year I will approach it more calmly and level, then there’s no reason why we can’t be competitive and fight for strong results. I’d love to say we can go there and win, we can, but we’ll also need a little bit of luck on our side. I feel that Peter and I can learn from our mistakes from last year and better the results this year. I’m really appreciative of the opportunity from PHR and Triumph to ask me to race at Daytona again in 2025 and I can’t wait to go back.”

MotoAmerica: Herfoss, O’Hara, Baz On Indian “Wrecking Crew” In 2025

The Indian Motorcycle “Wrecking Crew” is one of the most iconic aspects of American motorcycle history, thanks to the dominance of the original Wrecking Crew in the 1950s and the modern flat track Wrecking Crew, led by Jared Mees, from 2017-2024. Now Indian Motorcycle is embarking on a new bagger-racing chapter in the Wrecking Crew story. Today, Indian Motorcycle announced the expansion of its Indian Motorcycle-S&S® Cycle factory team, adding French MotoGP® veteran Loris Baz to the lineup, joining 2024 King of the Baggers® Champion Troy Herfoss and two-time King of the Baggers® Champion Tyler O’Hara. Once again, the team will do battle aboard the Indian Challenger, powered by the unparalleled overhead-cam, liquid-cooled PowerPlus motor.

After another historic season in 2024, highlighted by the rapid emergence and dominance of Herfoss, the three-time Australian Superbike champion, Indian Motorcycle is putting even more emphasis and momentum behind its bagger-racing program for 2025, expanding the team and effectively creating the newest iteration of its historic Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew.

“The Wrecking Crew has long been a cornerstone of our brand, synonymous with the racing DNA that has been a part of our company since it was founded by two racers back in 1901, and we’re thrilled to continue that historic legacy with our factory team in the King of the Baggers series,” said Gary Gray, Vice President of Product Technology, Racing, and Service for Indian Motorcycle. “Loris Baz is a proven winner, with experience at the highest levels of global road racing, but with critical experience in MotoAmerica and the tracks we run throughout the season. He’s been impressive on the Indian Challenger in our early testing sessions, and we’re excited by the notion of now having three amazing riders aboard the Indian Challenger at every race this season as we collectively chase another championship.”

Armed with the ultimate performance bagger platform, the Indian Challenger, Indian Motorcycle is proving that there is indeed a replacement for displacement. Thanks to sophistication of the overhead cam, liquid-cooled PowerPlus 112 motor, Indian Motorcycle is the first brand to win three King of the Baggers championships, consistently outpacing bigger-bore competitive motors with larger displacement. Its contemporary design, a 60-degree V-Twin featuring four valves per cylinder, delivers high horsepower and high torque – optimizing acceleration across the entire rev range.

Returning to defend his King of the Baggers crown is Indian Motorcycle-S&S® No. 1 rider Troy Herfoss. In his first year piloting the S&S® Indian Challenger, the three-time Australian Superbike champion podiumed all but three races in 2024, securing a class-leading seven wins, seven second-place finishes, and one third-place finish.

Returning for his sixth season aboard the S&S® Indian Challenger is No. 29 Tyler O’Hara. A two-time King of the Baggers champion, O’Hara won the class’ inaugural race in 2020 and repeated as champion in 2022. O’Hara’s fearless approach and seasoned experience racing baggers makes him a fierce competitor in this year’s King of the Baggers field.

Rounding out the Indian Wrecking Crew is French road racer Loris Baz. Baz’s dynamic riding style and proven resume makes him a formidable force on the track. The Frenchman has competed in premier series such as MotoGP®, World Superbike, and most recently within MotoAmerica’s Superbike class. He’s earned a reputation as a versatile and skilled rider, known for his adaptability. Baz has achieved success across various racing disciplines, including his time in the European Superstock 1000 Championship, where he clinched the title in 2008. With his international pedigree and history of success, Baz is set to make a powerful impact in King of the Baggers.

“The King of the Baggers series has had my attention since it began, and to be a part of it as a member of the legendary Indian Motorcycle Wrecking Crew is truly an honor,” said Baz. “Racing Superbike, I’ve seen first-hand what Troy and Tyler have accomplished aboard the S&S® Indian Challenger, and I’m thrilled to be joining this championship team as we chase another title together in 2025.”

Adding to its factory efforts, Indian Motorcycle is supporting two satellite teams for 2025. Steve Delorenzi has enlisted Cameron Petersen to pilot the SDI Racing Indian Challenger, while Kyle Ohnsorg will compete on the TAB Performance Racing Indian Challenger.

For 2025, Indian Motorcycle is offering more than $80,000 and a brand-new 2025 Indian Challenger Dark Horse for its privateer contingency. Indian Motorcycle Racing welcomes S&S® as title sponsor and is presented by Progressive Insurance® and Mission® Foods, with additional support from Parts Unlimited, Drag Specialties®, Performance Finance, and Min Hsiang.

The King of the Baggers season begins March 6 at the Daytona International Speedway. For more information on the 2025 King of the Baggers series, visit MotoAmerica.com.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports: “We’re very happy to pen this new agreement with the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. They never fail to deliver a world-class fan weekend, we always have impressive attendance figures, and the track is so well connected to Barcelona, one of the world’s most culturally relevant cities. World Endurance: No Limits Unveils All-New Lineup For 2025

No Limits Motor Team will unleash an all-new rider line-up for this season’s FIM Endurance World Championship.

The Honda-powered outfit has recruited Italians Gabriele Giannini, Edoardo Sintoni and Roberto Tamburini to ride alongside Japan’s Kaito Toba as it chases further success in the Dunlop-equipped Superstock category.

As well as being new to Italy-based No Limits Motor Team, Giannini, Sintoni and Toba are undertaking their first EWC campaigns, starting with the season-opening 24 Heures Motos from 17-20 April.

Giannini, 22, joins No Limits Motor Team having impressed at national level in his native Italy and in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. He will combine his EWC campaign with a season in the Campionato Italiano Velocità, which is also supplied by Dunlop.

Sintoni won the Italian MiniGP title in 2012 before placing third in the final Italian Moto3 standings in 2015. The 25-year-old made his Moto3 world championship debut as a wildcard in 2017 and finished runner-up in Italian Supersport 600 in 2023.

Toba, 24, won the first Talent Asia Cup in 2014 before going on to claim several podium finishes in the Moto3 World Championship between 2017 and 2023. During his first season riding a 600cc Honda in the FIM Supersport World Championship in 2024, Toba claimed a best result of sixth.

Meanwhile, Tamburini returns to the EWC after a season away competing in MotoAmerica. A World Superbike and World Supersport racer for several years, Tamburini, 34, made his EWC debut in 2022 and was part of the Team Moto Ain Formula EWC line-up in 2023.

A statement from the No Limits Motor Team, runner-up in the FIM Endurance World Cup in 2019-20, 2021 and 2022, read: “With the new season comes a completely renewed line-up, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for our team, but one that continues a tradition that has always set it apart: to bring riders who had never faced the endurance discipline to this prestigious championship.”

While No Limits Motor Team is intent on developing young talent, it’s also aware of the importance of experience, making Tamburini a key signing for 2025.

“Roberto Tamburini has been among the stars of the international motorcycle landscape for years,” a No Limits Motor Team statement read. “His passion for motorcycling was born at only seven years old. In a short time, he collected successes and records on all circuits and in all championships, building an incredible profile.

“Today he renews his passion for this specialty and chooses to wear the colours of the Italian national endurance team, which makes us extremely proud. Roberto is a guarantee of competitiveness and results, and his presence in our team will guarantee experience, talent and a constant level of performance, key ingredients to make our team even stronger.”

No Limits Motor Team’s all-new line-up will break cover in public for the first time when Circuit Bugatti at Le Mans hosts the EWC season-opening 24 Heures Motos from 17-20 April.

NEWS FROM WERA FOR 2025

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing will kick off the 2025 season on February 22-23 at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Munford, Alabama with a two-day Sportsman Sprint weekend. Pre-entry for this event is currently open to all licensed racers.

We will be missing a very special person in 2025. Scott Hayes is a familiar face to most riders in the Southeast Region who have needed a pick-up. Scott has been WERA’s crash truck driver for many years, a position he took after racing himself and deciding he wanted to remain attached to motorcycle road racing. We will miss him and wish him the best in his next chapter.

For 2025 WERA has decided to keep the National Endurance Series alive without any partners. We will keep bringing you the same quality of racing and ease of participating in our four-race series in 2025. We are currently working on getting a purse put in place and will keep you posted as this develops. Endurance Racing is the benchmark for getting the best experience and track time for riders and the Team aspect is what makes Endurance Racing so different from the other racing out there. Many Champions have come out of the WERA National Endurance Series and while it took a hiatus it came back to find that it can be relevant. Supporting this Series will keep it on the Schedule for years to come. We have also modified the Ultralightweight class to accommodate the new small-bore motorcycles coming out as well as safer refueling so check out the rulebook on the WERA website.

The 2025 Full Schedule can be found on the WERA website at www.wera.com We hope to see you out there participating or watching at our events.

Thank you for your support!

MotoGP: More From Final Preseason Test At Buriram

Top on Day 1 and top on Day 2, that’s a clean sweep for Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) in the Buriram Test. His 1:28.855 is the only lap in that bracket from the event, although it’s still just shy of now-teammate Francesco Bagnaia’s lap record 1:28.700 in the GP here last year. Bagnaia was fifth at this test.

DUCATI DECISIONS

Davide Tardozzi also confirmed that the only 2025 parts to be on the bike for Round 1 are electronics and suspension updates… meaning they’ve decided to stay with engine, chassis and aero from 2024, for now at least on most counts. Engine means they’re now locked in until the end of 2026.

The GP24 that has proved almost too good to improve was in second with Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP), who takes second at this test in another serious showing at a different track to his often more specialist venue of Sepang.

APRILIA IMPRESS

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) was third fastest overall and impressing many up and down pitlane as he settles in at the Noale factory. His 1:29.060 is the quickest Aprilia have ever been at Buriram, and it’s the biggest improvement of all the factories who managed the same, namely Aprilia, KTM and Honda. Bezzecchi’s Sprint simulation was also pretty impressive.

Test rider Lorenzo Savadori also added more laps and data, and so did Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) despite being on the road to recovery after his crash in Sepang. He was upbeat about the extra track time and ended the test in a solid P13.

KTM CLOSE?

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) likewise took his factory the fastest they’ve been, a 1:29.133 to end the test just off Bezzecchi in third. The #37 seems to have the early edge on new teammate Brad Binder for the moment, who was P12 but the South African says he also left time on the table during his time attacks.

After a challenging pre-season in some ways, Maverick Viñales seems to be settling in at Red Bull KTM Tech3 and moved into the top ten with a key step. Teammate Enea Bastianini remains looking for a little more. As can often be the case given how they work, KTM seem to be one of the more unknown quantities heading into Round 1. Previously, that’s sometimes been a nasty surprise for their rivals.

HONDA HIT BACK

If Yamaha stole the headlines in Sepang, Honda did so in Buriram. Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) took P6 with the fastest lap any Honda has ever done at Buriram. Even more pleasing than the time attack was a Sprint simulation that rivalled the likes of Aprilia and KTM. Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) was P14 and Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) was P16, not putting in big time attacks on Thursday.

YAMAHA LOOKING FOR MORE

Sepang showed a big step forward for Yamaha, but just as Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) said, Buriram may prove a little tougher and it did. Still, the Frenchman was P8 and unlike Honda, Yamaha didn’t test at the venue beforehand. Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) was next up for the Iwata factory in P10, whereas his teammate Miguel Oliveira was P19, just trailing Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) in P17. We can likely expect more as the time attacks rolls out at the race weekend, however.

THE ROOKIES

Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) was the fastest rookie. A 1:29.6 defeats Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Racing MotoGP)’s 1:30, but the two have been duelling throughout pre-season. Home hero Somkiat Chantra continued to progress too, shaving more laptime off on his IDEMITSU Honda LCR machine.

That’s a wrap on the Buriram Test. Huge decisions from Ducati, big statements from their new arrival and some interesting showings from their rivals set the stage for a stunning season opener. See you there!

MotoGP: Marc Marquez Quickest As Buriram Test Concludes

Marc Marquez was fastest on Day Two of the final pre-season MotoGP test, as Ducati’s factory riders appear to have spent most of their time working with an updated GP24 and have set aside most of the changes incorporated into the GP25.

Marquez’ 1:28.855 was not quite as quick as the outright lap record set by factory Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia last year, a 1:28.700.

Alex Marquez was second-quickest, with Marco Bezzecchi third on the factory Aprilia with a 1:29.060.

Marc Marquez set the fastest race simulation time, averaging 1:30.361 over 23 laps. For comparison, the last dry race at Chang International Circuit was won at an average of 1:31.453.

Daytona 200: Hickman, Cooper Racing Factory Triumphs

Peter Hickman. Photo courtesy PHR.

The inclusion of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 bikes for the Super Hooligan Series shows they’re bringing innovation to the table with custom modifications and cutting-edge carbon-fiber bodywork.

Participating in everything from Flat Track to Land Speed Record attempts is a solid way to push the limits of the products and gain real-world feedback. It’s clear that Saddlemen’s focus on testing new products through racing is an important part of their strategy to maintain their reputation as “Gel Seat Experts” and continue providing riders with the best in comfort and performance.

It looks like an exciting year ahead for Saddlemen in both the King of the Baggers and Super Hooligan series!

MotoGP will race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya until 2031. Winner of Best GP for the Championship-deciding Solidarity GP in 2024, located in one of the world’s true headliner cities and always packed with passionate fans of the most exciting sport on earth, it couldn’t be a better combination.

Since its debut in 1992, the track has become a giant on the calendar, holding 34 Grands Prix so far and becoming the circuit on the calendar with the third most consecutive seasons hosting MotoGP.

MotoGP will now add even more chapters to our already storied history in Barcelona thanks to this new contract extension.

Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia and president of the Circuit de Barcelona–Catalunya: “We celebrate this deal, which strengthens Catalonia’s connection to motor racing, particularly the Grand Prix, which has been held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since 1992, over 30 years ago. Securing the MotoGP Grand Prix until 2031 is excellent news for Catalonia’s reputation as a host of premier international sporting events. In an increasingly internationalized and competitive environment, Catalonia’s ability to maintain a circuit in such a stable manner is an achievement to be proud of.”

Pau Relat, President of Fira de Barcelona and Fira Circuit: “The extension of the contract until 2031 is excellent news for the Circuit. We are very pleased to continue hosting the premier motorcycle racing championship, which has been linked to the Catalan track since 1992 and has an enormous worldwide impact. At Fira Circuit, we are committed to collaborating with the institutions, Dorna, and the entire MotoGP community to ensure that the Grand Prix consistently meets the highest standards and becomes, year after year, an unforgettable experience for fans and members of the championship.”

This is a winning combination for us and we’re excited to continue racing there.”

Marc Marquez (93). Photo courtesy MotoGP.com.

Marc Marquez (93). Photo courtesy MotoGP.com.
