Eric Granado joins Miquel Pons and the LCR E-Team for the 2022 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup.

Brazilian rider Eric Granado has signed a contract with Lucio Cecchinello’s team for the 2022 season. This will be his fourth season in the electric category, having finished 3rd overall in its inaugural 2019 season, 7th in 2020 and just outside the podium in the 2021 season that concluded in Misano this September, where he finished 4th.

After an impressive first season with the LCR E-Team in 2021, with two podiums in the bag, one of them the first victory for LCR in the all-electric class, Pons has proved to be a really competitive rider, earning his seat with LCR in the 2022 season.

The 2022 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will see some major changes with a new format of events.

Starting from 2022, standard MotoE™ events will feature two Free Practice sessions and a Qualifying on Friday, and two races: one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. E-Pole will be replaced with trilling Q1 and Q2 sessions.

Now, it’s time get ready and work hard while we wait for the 2022 calendar to be announced but the LCR E-Team will be back fully charged and ready to fight for the top.

Triumph Discovers 1901 Prototype Of Its First Motorcycle

HISTORIC DISCOVERY OF 1901 PROTOTYPE TRIUMPH

Following the recent announcement of plans to celebrate next year’s 120th anniversary
of the most iconic British motorcycle brand, and the production of the millionth Hinckley Triumph produced, Triumph announces the landmark discovery of the very first
Triumph prototype ever built.

The 1901 Prototype

An amazing historic find, discovered and restored by leading vintage Triumph collector Dick Shepherd, the 1901 Prototype rewrites the history books, adding a whole new chapter prior to Triumph’s official sales starting in 1902. Long rumored to exist and referenced within advertising and reviews that appeared in 1901, this first Triumph prototype was developed from a standard Triumph bicycle, with an engine provided by Belgian manufacturer Minerva, in order to generate interest and gauge the public’s demand for a Triumph motorcycle.

Dick Shepherd said “Having been approached by a friend of a collector, who had sadly recently passed away, to evaluate an old Triumph, I was incredibly excited to discover that the bike they had featured unique details that were not present on the first production Triumphs. Along with the bike, the collector had also received a letter from Triumph, dated in 1937, that outlined the bike’s unique origins and provided key details.”

“With an engine number that is consistent with references in Minerva’s engine records of a 1901 first Triumph engagement, the historic significance of this motorcycle became incredibly clear.”

“As a lifelong passionate fan of the history and achievements of this incredible British brand, to have discovered this amazing survivor and restored it to the glorious condition it would have been in when it first went on display in 1901, has given me an immense amount of satisfaction.”

First unveiled at the UK’s Motorcycle Live show, the 1901 prototype will feature in a dedicated event at Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience on December 14th, where the machine will be ridden in public for the very first time in over 100 years.

This incredible, historic motorcycle will then be on display, alongside the millionth Hinckley Triumph, in a new, specially created 120-year anniversary exhibit, hosted within Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience.

The Triumph Factory Visitor Experience is free to visit and is located at Triumph’s HQ in Hinckley, England and is open daily Wednesday through Sunday, from 10am – 4.30pm.

British Superbike: Honda Announces Four-Rider Team

Four-man team for Honda Racing UK in BSB as Neave steps up to Superbike

Honda Racing UK is pleased to confirm its plans for the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season, as Tom Neave steps up into the premier class alongside Glenn Irwin, Ryo Mizuno and Takumi Takahashi, as the Louth-based squad prepares its four-man assault on the British championship.

Having won the Pirelli National Superstock Championship this year aboard the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Tom makes his move into BSB, where in 2018 he made his debut in the class with the Honda team, standing in at Thruxton and Cadwell Park.

As part of the Honda Superbike Challenge Program, 2022 will be the first full season for the Lincolnshire-ace in the Superbike class and after showing his potential in the Superstock series winning the title in 2021, and finishing runner-up in 2020, it’s going to be an exciting year for the reigning Superstock champion.

Glenn continues with the team for a third consecutive year and having had shoulder surgery at the end of the 2021 season, after being plagued with an injury for most of this year, he’s determined to be in the title fight from the start after showing potential with wins and podiums aboard the Fireblade SP in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

For Ryo and Takumi, this season was their debut year in the British series and having to learn new circuits, race on new tyres and without traction control the season was a steep learning curve for them both. Throughout the season the BSB rookies proved vital developing and testing new components for the Fireblade SP, and now armed with a years’ worth of circuit and bike knowledge, both riders are keen to move up the pack and score regular points next season.

Running four bikes in the Superbike class is a first for the Honda team and one that shows Honda UK’s commitment to the highly competitive British championship, as well as nurturing young talent through the Honda Superbike Challenge Program. The programme is designed to support racers competing in national championships worldwide, to take further steps in their racing careers, which for 2022 sees Tom make the next step into the Superbike class.

Tom Neave:

I’m not sure I can sum this up into a short one really but racing in the Superbike series is what I have worked towards since I started on tarmac, but certainly since I have been with Honda the aim was always to get into Superbike. I’ve served my apprenticeship finishing as runner-up in 2020 and this year becoming the Superstock champion, and now it’s time to graduate up to the next level, where the real work starts! I have never been so motivated to make it happen and can’t wait to figure it all out and just get testing on the Superbike now, it’s finally become a reality and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you to Honda Racing UK, Harv, Neil and everyone who has stood by, believed and worked with me to make this happen – 2022 I can’t wait!

Glenn Irwin:

I’m delighted to sign again with Honda Racing UK for the third consecutive season, I think we’ve had two years of a good foundation and an excellent debut with the Fireblade SP, and despite lots of little challenges we have learnt a lot about the bike. I expect good things and especially with the development from this season, what I want and what the team want is to step up and to fight more with the top runners on a consistent basis. Having Ryo and Takumi staying with the team is good and I enjoyed working with them this season and the input they had, at times they were starting to show more pace which will only help the team moving forward. Tom stepping up is fantastic and a teammate I’ve been wanting, he’s young, he’s hungry, very dedicated and will certainly keep me on my toes! It does no harm to have a teammate like that. I think 2022 can be a good season, I’ve been under the knife recently for my shoulder getting that fixed and I am looking forward to going into a new season clear of injury and I am looking forward to going testing.

Ryo Mizuno:

I’m glad to continue racing with the Honda Racing UK team in 2022. I’ll be aiming to keep on fighting and evolving with the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP each race to aim for better and better results. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and personal sponsors for supporting my racing activities.

Takumi Takahashi:

I’ll participate the British Superbike Championship in 2022. In 2021, most of the circuits were new for me and because of my injury, I was frustrated by the results. I’ve already started preparations for 2022 season to get a good result. My first target is the podium, but I’ll do my best for the victory.

Havier Beltran – Team Manager, Honda Racing UK:

I’m really pleased to see Tom move up the ranks into BSB for the 2022 season, it’s been a pleasure working with him in the Superstock class where we’ve watched him grow from his debut with the team, through to becoming the 2021 champion. It’s always great when you can support and nurture young talent into the next step of their career and it’s going to be an exciting season for him. I’m pleased Glenn is continuing with us, we know he has the pace to fight at the front which he has shown in the last two seasons with the team, it’s just been bad luck that has hampered his progress as well as injury this season, but I am confident a fit Glenn can be a contender for the title. I’m also delighted to have Ryo and Takumi back with us for next year, they played a vital role for the team this season testing and developing new components and now with more track knowledge, I think we’ll see them further up the grid and fighting for the top-ten.

World Endurance: Guarnoni Joins BMW Motorrad Team

BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team completes first winter test in preparation for the FIM EWC 2022 – Jéremy Guarnoni joins the team.

Three days of testing for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and the #37 BMW M 1000 RR in Almeria, Spain.

Jéremy Guarnoni will be the new team-mate of Markus Reiterberger, Ilya Mikhalchik and Kenny Foray.

Werner Daemen: “We have a lot to do over the next few days, but I am very happy with the set-up we have now.”

Almeria. After the successful 2021 season, victory in Most (CZE) and second place overall in the FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC), the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is now concentrating fully on preparations for 2022. Team manager Werner Daemen has taken the team to Almeria in Spain for the first three-day winter testing session. A new face is in action on the #37 BMW M 1000 RR alongside Markus Reiterberger (GER), Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR) and Kenny Foray (FRA): Jéremy Guarnoni (FRA). He will be the new team-mate for Reiterberger, Mikhalchik and Foray for the upcoming 2022 season.

The 28-year-old Frenchman Guarnoni is a familiar face in the Endurance World Championship. He appeared in his first FIM EWC race at the age of 18, competing in the 2012 Bol d’Or in Magny-Cours (FRA). He has been a fixture in the FIM EWC since 2018 and became world champion in the 2018/19 season. He was also the 2010 Superstock 600 European champion before competing for many years in the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship, where he claimed third place in the championship on two occasions and also got to know his new team-mates Reiterberger and Mikhalchik. Guarnoni spent a season racing in the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) in 2014.

The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is using the test in Almeria to continue work on optimising the #37 BMW M 1000 RR. New components and set-up solutions are being evaluated. Together with tyre partner Dunlop, the team is testing a range of tyre options. Guarnoni also has the option of using the testing to familiarise himself with the motorbike and the team.

Three race dates have already been confirmed for the 2022 season in the FIM EWC. The season starts on 16th/17th April with the 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA), the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will take place on 4th/5th June and the 8 Hours of Suzuka (JPN) will return to the FIM EWC calendar on 7th August. Further race dates are yet to be confirmed.

I have a really good feeling about the mechanics, the crew chief and my team-mates. I already knew Ilya, Markus and Kenny as opponents, and now they are my team-mates. That is really cool. I am sure we can achieve great things next season, and I am looking forward to it.”

Markus Reiterberger: “Firstly, after a good season in 2021, we know exactly what we need to work on. I am very pleased that we still have a test this year. That is very important for us, as it allows us to lay important foundations for the coming year. I am pleased to be able to welcome Jéremy – another strong rider and a former world champion – to the team. The first day of testing was really tiring for everyone, as it was very cold and there was a lot to test. We got through most of the programme, but there are still a few important things to do. The initial impressions are definitely promising. With the improvements we can still make, I believe we will be able to make up that one position we missed out on this season. I am very confident and pleased to be part of the team.”

Ilya Mikhalchik: “It feels really good to be able to start preparations for 2022 this year. Firstly, I would like to welcome our new team member, Jéremy. I hope we can achieve some good results together. He is a very experienced endurance rider and I think we will learn a lot from each other. I am very happy to be riding with him in the team and on this bike. We have made a few improvements. I think we have a good overall package, with which we can win. We showed that in the last race. We are now testing a few things, to give ourselves an even better chance. I believe we have the potential to challenge at the top next year.”

Kenny Foray: “Our winter test is very early, but that is very good for us. The new bike is even better than the old one. It is really enjoyable to ride. I am hoping for a really good year for the whole team. If I am able to contribute to us improving, then I am definitely ready.”

Engineering Merit Badge (Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)

All scouts are welcome to come earn their Engineering Merit Badge at the Harley-Davidson Museum! This experience will be partially facilitated as scouts explore the history of Harley-Davidson as well as the engineering of motorcycles as they complete the nine merit badge requirements. Advance registration is required. Program registration closes one week prior to the scheduled program date. Ticket includes: downloadable activity booklet used for the program, partially facilitated program, blue card signed by the facilitator (one blue card per scout registration) and an exclusive H-D Museum™ patch.

Scout Virtual Engineering Merit Badge (Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.)

This new 90-minute online program is open to scouts from all over the country. Our program facilitator will guide the troops and explore the role an engineer plays while creating a Harley-Davidson® Motorcycle. Nine requirements for the Engineering Merit Badge will be discussed during this virtual, interactive program. Advance registration is required. Program Fee: $20 per Scout, which includes an activity booklet used during the program and a special H-D® patch upon completion of the program.

Inspiration and Recovery: Wounded Veteran Climbs the Seven Summits (on display now)

In September 2009, Specialist Benjamin Breckheimer, a Cavalry Scout with the U.S. Army 2nd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, was severely wounded during a tour in Afghanistan. His rehabilitation was difficult as he endured numerous surgeries. During this same time, the Harley-Davidson Museum regularly sent care packages – including H-D Museum™ flags dotted with well wishes – to active-duty military personnel. Breckheimer took to mountaineering during his recovery and over the summer carried the H-D Museum flag to the summit of Denali, the highest point in North America. With that peak reached, Breckheimer became the first and only Purple Heart recipient to reach all the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. He continues to climb, and he shares his inspiring story to encourage resiliency and support the mental health of veterans and current service members.

Clubs & Competition (on display now)

In the early part of the 20th century, motorcycle culture was a homegrown phenomenon. It grew out of the passion of riders for their evolving sport. The camaraderie that developed around riding and attending competitive events led to the formation of motorcycle clubs that hosted destination rides, family picnics with motorcycle games and other riding competitions.

The newly reinstalled display case in the Clubs & Competition gallery highlights clothing from club members from primarily the 1930s and 1940s. The clothing selections on view include full dress uniforms, shirts, sweaters, jackets, and caps, customized by the owners with their club name and logo, and pins or patches indicating membership in the American Motorcyclist Association. The H-D Archives™ collection includes Motorclothes® apparel sold in H-D® product catalogs but also non-H-D produced clothing items that have been proudly customized by riders.

Harley Fox (on display now)

Gail Anderson’s 1986 Softail® Custom motorcycle, “Harley Fox,” built by her partner Bob Burrows, took top prize at the first Ladies of Harley® (LOH) ride-in show during Daytona Beach Bike Week in 1987. With her custom bike and themed riding gear, Anderson presented a striking image that fit the growing visibility and exciting new options for women riders in the 1980s.

Alfonso Sotomayor’s 1957 Model FL (on display now)

The Harley-Davidson Museum is proud to announce its collection has recently grown with the addition of a 1957 Model FL that was ridden by famed Mexican stunt rider and racer Alfonso Sotomayor Canales.

Harley-Davidson’s history in Mexico dates back to at least 1913. In the 1920s, the brand was more frequently spotted throughout Mexico City as the motorcycles proved popular with the local traffic police who would also perform stunts with their Harley-Davidson® bikes. After racing from the 1930s into the 1960s, Sotomayor launched his own stunt riding career by performing the famed “Salto de la Muerte” or Jump of Death. Learn more about Sotomayor’s feats of derring-do and Harley-Davidson’s early entry into Mexico with this new display located in the Custom Culture area.

In the decades before America paved its highways, early riders had to be prepared for all sorts of terrain: sand, clay or dirt – and wandering those makeshift byways were Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. Today, it’s called off-road or adventure touring; back then it was just called riding. Since 1903, Harley-Davidson motorcycles proved their toughness by riding over wooded hills, through stone-choked creek beds and up mountain sides. “Off-Road Harley-Davidson” tells the history of motorcycles designed for rough roads, the people who rode them and the adventures they shared.

“Building a Milwaukee Icon: Harley-Davidson’s Juneau Avenue Factory” (on display now)

A recently recovered cache of architectural drawings includes plans for the original Juneau Avenue facility. The pencil drawings, along with archival photographs, demonstrate the whirlwind pace of the company’s early growth. While building an international business—going from producing just over 1,000 motorcycles in 1909 to manufacturing 27,000 motorcycles in 1920—the company’s Milwaukee factory experienced near-constant expansion. Construction through this relatively brief period created the buildings that today, a century later, are still the proud home of Harley-Davidson.

“Building a Milwaukee Icon” provides a snapshot of Harley-Davidson’s formative years and illustrates a chapter of Milwaukee history when the city was known as the “Machine Shop to the World.”

Unfinished business… Trevor Standish out for glory in MotoAmerica Twins Cup 2022

Pure Attitude Racing is delighted to announce that Trevor Standish will return to the MotoAmerica grid in 2022 alongside the previously announced Liam MacDonald. The pair will contest the Twins Cup championship.

For Standish, who led the 2021 series after the opening round in Atlanta, there is unfinished business in the class following an early season spill curtailed his title aspirations.

Over the coming weeks, Pure Attitude Racing will make a series of announcements relating to their other riders for the 2022 season, in addition to announcing their sponsors and some exciting manufacturer news!

Trevor Standish: “Starting 2021 I wanted to show people what I could do. Due to my crash at Road America my season was cut short, but I feel that I did a good job. I led the championship early on, made the podium, was regularly fighting for the podium and even went viral in the rain in the final round – it was a rollercoaster that’s for sure. I am ready to go all out to win the MotoAmerica Twins Cup championship and with some of the things we have in the pipeline I believe fully in our program and my ability. British Superbike: Long-Time Race Announcer Fred Clarke Retires

Fred Clarke Announces Retirement

After a career spanning over half a century, legendary motorcycle racing circuit commentator Fred Clarke has announced his retirement following the 2021 season.

The renowned voice of British motorcycle racing for the past 56 years posted a statement on his Facebook social media account earlier today as follows:

“There is no easy way to say this but following a lengthy period of soul searching and contemplation, it is, with sadness, that I inform you of my decision to retire from the BSB commentary box. My shift has now come to an end, and I will not be returning in 2022.

My whole life has centred around motorcycle racing. From standing trackside at Silverstone in the 1950s, to becoming formally involved in the paddock from 1960 onwards, and then by accident, moving into the commentary box some 56 years ago.

Highlights include commentating at 43 consecutive British GPs, held at Silverstone and Donington Park (1977 to 2019 inclusive), every World Superbike Championship meeting held in the UK, and even the hugely popular TransAtlantic Match Races, which began in 1971, plus being series commentator at BSB and its predecessor since the dawn of time!

I’ve enjoyed a wonderful life in the world of motorsport, which as well as motorcycles, has included karts, cars, and truck racing. However, time waits for no man. I am currently 77 years of age and feel that now is the time to hang up the ‘mic, so that for my remaining years, I can re-direct my undivided attention to the other love of my life, my wife Sandra, who for the 51 years that we have been married, has without complaint played second fiddle to my world of motorcycle racing.

Yes, I will certainly miss all that I’ve known and loved throughout my 60 years involved in racing, not least the countless wonderful people I’ve met, including the many marvellous fans who have been ultra-generous to me with their flattering accolades.

There are far too many people for me to thank individually, with but the following exceptions:

Special thanks go to my lifelong friend Bruce Cox, who back in the sixties was responsible for setting me on a path that, unwittingly, was to lead me into the world of commentating.

I also thank the ‘Guvnor’, BSB Race and Series Director Stuart Higgs for not interfering and simply allowing me to do the commentary job ‘my way’.

Thanks go to my assistant of countless years, the now-retired Geoff ‘Baldrick’ Judges.

Equally, my thanks and gratitude go to Paul Bird for his friendship and for allowing me unrestricted access to the PBM team hospitality over many years.

But my biggest debt of gratitude goes to my commentating partner for the past 21 years, my good friend Larry ‘Scoop’ Carter, whose professionalism, knowledge, and ability are second to none. I could not have had anyone better to have worked alongside.

May I also offer my heartfelt thanks to those who responded here on Facebook with such touching messages of congratulations upon receiving the BSB 25-year Outstanding Contribution Award. I was staggered and flattered by the content as well as the sheer volume.

This award now sits proudly alongside the Special Achievement Award given to me by the David Jefferies Foundation in 2009 and the MCN Dave Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award presented to me in 2011, all tangible reminders of my time spent in the commentary box.

Finally, I hope that you’ve enjoyed the ‘Fred and Scoop Show’ over the years, as well as the commentaries. I’ve had a blast and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. But for me, the show is now over, and it only remains for me to say this one last time: From myself, Fred Clarke, it’s goodbye my friends, and thank you so much for listening.”

Fred is planning on attending the Motorcycle Live Show at the NEC, Birmingham on Saturday 11th December as part of their BSB Day and will be on the main stage at 11am.

American Flat Track: Estenson Racing Announces 2022 Rider Lineup

Estenson Racing Announces 2022 American Flat Track Lineup

Estenson Racing is happy to announce a powerhouse line-up for the 2022 Progressive American Flat Track season. Multi-time road race champion JD Beach and the reigning back-to-back AFT Singles Champion Dallas Daniels return, with the young rider making his premier class debut and joining the veteran for a two-pronged threat in the Mission SuperTwins Championship. Up-and-coming rider Trevor Brunner joins the team to spearhead the campaign in the AFT Singles class.

Beach enters his fourth season with the team and looks to build on their success with the Yamaha MT-07. Since his first premier class victory that debut season with the team in 2019, he has been the rider to beat on the TT tracks, winning four of the last five TT Main Events. Beach and the team have continued to make forward strides, ending the 2021 season with a pair of wins and a total of four podium finishes for a top-five finish in the point standings.

Daniels steps up to the premier class after an impressive tenure in the AFT Singles Championship since he made his debut midseason in 2019 at the Lima Half-Mile. In addition to becoming the first back-to-back champion in the class, he rose to second on the support class’ all-time win list with 13 victories. While defending his AFT Singles title in 2021, Daniels also enjoyed a stellar debut aboard the Twin in the AFT Production Twins class, scoring three wins and a second-place finish in the four events he entered.

The newest addition to Estenson Racing, Brunner is one of the sport’s rising stars. He capped off his amateur career with top honors and has followed a similar career trajectory as Daniels. The Indiana rider was named the 2019 Nicky Hayden AMA Flat Track Horizon Award Winner and the 2019 AMA Athlete of the Year from Grand Championship events. He then went on to impress during his debut in the pro ranks, scoring a win at the Springfield Short Track in 2020. Brunner finished his sophomore year strong with a pair of wins at the Sacramento Mile doubleheader, securing a top-five finish in the points standings. The 19-year-old aims to put another number-one plate on the Yamaha YZ450F and bring the team its fourth title in its sixth year in the championship.

Eric Granado joins Miquel Pons and the LCR E-Team for the 2022 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup.

Brazilian rider Eric Granado has signed a contract with Lucio Cecchinello’s team for the 2022 season. This will be his fourth season in the electric category, having finished 3rd overall in its inaugural 2019 season, 7th in 2020 and just outside the podium in the 2021 season that concluded in Misano this September, where he finished 4th.

After an impressive first season with the LCR E-Team in 2021, with two podiums in the bag, one of them the first victory for LCR in the all-electric class, Pons has proved to be a really competitive rider, earning his seat with LCR in the 2022 season.

The 2022 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will see some major changes with a new format of events.

Starting from 2022, standard MotoE™ events will feature two Free Practice sessions and a Qualifying on Friday, and two races: one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. E-Pole will be replaced with trilling Q1 and Q2 sessions.

Now, it’s time get ready and work hard while we wait for the 2022 calendar to be announced but the LCR E-Team will be back fully charged and ready to fight for the top.

Triumph Discovers 1901 Prototype Of Its First Motorcycle

HISTORIC DISCOVERY OF 1901 PROTOTYPE TRIUMPH

Following the recent announcement of plans to celebrate next year’s 120th anniversary
of the most iconic British motorcycle brand, and the production of the millionth Hinckley Triumph produced, Triumph announces the landmark discovery of the very first
Triumph prototype ever built.

The 1901 Prototype

An amazing historic find, discovered and restored by leading vintage Triumph collector Dick Shepherd, the 1901 Prototype rewrites the history books, adding a whole new chapter prior to Triumph’s official sales starting in 1902. Long rumored to exist and referenced within advertising and reviews that appeared in 1901, this first Triumph prototype was developed from a standard Triumph bicycle, with an engine provided by Belgian manufacturer Minerva, in order to generate interest and gauge the public’s demand for a Triumph motorcycle.

Dick Shepherd said “Having been approached by a friend of a collector, who had sadly recently passed away, to evaluate an old Triumph, I was incredibly excited to discover that the bike they had featured unique details that were not present on the first production Triumphs. Along with the bike, the collector had also received a letter from Triumph, dated in 1937, that outlined the bike’s unique origins and provided key details.”

“With an engine number that is consistent with references in Minerva’s engine records of a 1901 first Triumph engagement, the historic significance of this motorcycle became incredibly clear.”

“As a lifelong passionate fan of the history and achievements of this incredible British brand, to have discovered this amazing survivor and restored it to the glorious condition it would have been in when it first went on display in 1901, has given me an immense amount of satisfaction.”

First unveiled at the UK’s Motorcycle Live show, the 1901 prototype will feature in a dedicated event at Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience on December 14th, where the machine will be ridden in public for the very first time in over 100 years.

This incredible, historic motorcycle will then be on display, alongside the millionth Hinckley Triumph, in a new, specially created 120-year anniversary exhibit, hosted within Triumph’s Factory Visitor Experience.

Four-man team for Honda Racing UK in BSB as Neave steps up to Superbike

Honda Racing UK is pleased to confirm its plans for the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship season, as Tom Neave steps up into the premier class alongside Glenn Irwin, Ryo Mizuno and Takumi Takahashi, as the Louth-based squad prepares its four-man assault on the British championship.

Having won the Pirelli National Superstock Championship this year aboard the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Tom makes his move into BSB, where in 2018 he made his debut in the class with the Honda team, standing in at Thruxton and Cadwell Park.

As part of the Honda Superbike Challenge Program, 2022 will be the first full season for the Lincolnshire-ace in the Superbike class and after showing his potential in the Superstock series winning the title in 2021, and finishing runner-up in 2020, it’s going to be an exciting year for the reigning Superstock champion.

Glenn continues with the team for a third consecutive year and having had shoulder surgery at the end of the 2021 season, after being plagued with an injury for most of this year, he’s determined to be in the title fight from the start after showing potential with wins and podiums aboard the Fireblade SP in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

For Ryo and Takumi, this season was their debut year in the British series and having to learn new circuits, race on new tyres and without traction control the season was a steep learning curve for them both. Throughout the season the BSB rookies proved vital developing and testing new components for the Fireblade SP, and now armed with a years’ worth of circuit and bike knowledge, both riders are keen to move up the pack and score regular points next season.

Running four bikes in the Superbike class is a first for the Honda team and one that shows Honda UK’s commitment to the highly competitive British championship, as well as nurturing young talent through the Honda Superbike Challenge Program. The programme is designed to support racers competing in national championships worldwide, to take further steps in their racing careers, which for 2022 sees Tom make the next step into the Superbike class.

Tom Neave:

I’m not sure I can sum this up into a short one really but racing in the Superbike series is what I have worked towards since I started on tarmac, but certainly since I have been with Honda the aim was always to get into Superbike. I’ve served my apprenticeship finishing as runner-up in 2020 and this year becoming the Superstock champion, and now it’s time to graduate up to the next level, where the real work starts! I have never been so motivated to make it happen and can’t wait to figure it all out and just get testing on the Superbike now, it’s finally become a reality and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you to Honda Racing UK, Harv, Neil and everyone who has stood by, believed and worked with me to make this happen – 2022 I can’t wait!

Glenn Irwin:

I’m delighted to sign again with Honda Racing UK for the third consecutive season, I think we’ve had two years of a good foundation and an excellent debut with the Fireblade SP, and despite lots of little challenges we have learnt a lot about the bike. I expect good things and especially with the development from this season, what I want and what the team want is to step up and to fight more with the top runners on a consistent basis. Having Ryo and Takumi staying with the team is good and I enjoyed working with them this season and the input they had, at times they were starting to show more pace which will only help the team moving forward. Tom stepping up is fantastic and a teammate I’ve been wanting, he’s young, he’s hungry, very dedicated and will certainly keep me on my toes! It does no harm to have a teammate like that. I think 2022 can be a good season, I’ve been under the knife recently for my shoulder getting that fixed and I am looking forward to going into a new season clear of injury and I am looking forward to going testing.

Ryo Mizuno:

I’m glad to continue racing with the Honda Racing UK team in 2022. I’ll be aiming to keep on fighting and evolving with the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP each race to aim for better and better results. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and personal sponsors for supporting my racing activities.

Takumi Takahashi:

I’ll participate the British Superbike Championship in 2022. In 2021, most of the circuits were new for me and because of my injury, I was frustrated by the results. I’ve already started preparations for 2022 season to get a good result. My first target is the podium, but I’ll do my best for the victory.

Havier Beltran – Team Manager, Honda Racing UK:

I’m really pleased to see Tom move up the ranks into BSB for the 2022 season, it’s been a pleasure working with him in the Superstock class where we’ve watched him grow from his debut with the team, through to becoming the 2021 champion. It’s always great when you can support and nurture young talent into the next step of their career and it’s going to be an exciting season for him. I’m pleased Glenn is continuing with us, we know he has the pace to fight at the front which he has shown in the last two seasons with the team, it’s just been bad luck that has hampered his progress as well as injury this season, but I am confident a fit Glenn can be a contender for the title. I’m also delighted to have Ryo and Takumi back with us for next year, they played a vital role for the team this season testing and developing new components and now with more track knowledge, I think we’ll see them further up the grid and fighting for the top-ten.

Soichi Yamana – Department Manager, Motorcycle Department, Motor Sports Division:

I’m very glad to be able to continue our Honda Superbike Challenge Program journey with Honda Racing UK in 2022. 2021 was a short and challenging season, but Glenn and Mizuno both managed to make solid progress. I’m looking forward to the team, with Tom Neave joining us in the premier class, working together and improving in 2022. Through this programme, Honda continues to discover new talent through its worldwide network and nurture the next generation of riders. I cannot wait for the new season to start.

Neil Fletcher – Head of Motorcycles, Honda UK:

We’re delighted to see Tom move to his first full season in BSB following his fantastic performance this year becoming the 2021 Pirelli National Superstock Champion. The move is richly deserved and highlights the virtues of the Honda Superbike Challenge Program which is focused on nurturing young talent. I’m really pleased that Glenn is continuing with us next season, he undoubtedly has the pace with many race wins and podiums over the last couple of years on board the latest Fireblade and we know he’ll be fighting at the front again. It’s great that Ryo and Takumi are staying with us for 2022. They played pivotal roles this year supporting the team by testing and developing many new components and with all the experience they’ve gained in 2021, I am sure we’ll all see them move up the grid. I look forward to working with them all again and can’t wait to see the racing start again next year!
