From a press release issued by CMRA:

Despite cold, cloudy, windy weather, the opening round of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s 2008 series was greeted by a record-setting 44 entries for Saturday’s Shogun Motorsports Formula Mini Endurance race at Oak Hill Raceway near Henderson, Texas, and followed by a record-setting performance on Sunday by perennial CMRA champ Ty Howard during Sprint racing action. A total of 517 sprint entries graced the sprint grids [including eight kids in the Junior Motard class] as $3375 in total purses and prizes were paid out, including a $700 purse for the Northwest Honda Formula 1 Expert race. Meanwhile, a large group of spectators braved the weather to watch.

On Sunday, Howard posted a record lap of 1:21.570 during the RaceworX A Superstock Expert race, eclipsing the old mark of 1:21.824 set by Howard back in 2005. In all, Howard posted three wins, which was eclipsed only by Jake Lewis’ four-win performance.

Other Expert-class winners included Dustin Dominguez, Randall Kienast, Tyler McDonald, Charles Sackey, Murray Clift, Jeremy Kidd, and Eric Falt.

In Saturday’s 4 hour endurance race, which paid $700 to all four classes, Desert-Mice finished with a full lap advantage over second place finishers GMAN Racing 2, while Excel Racing finished third, another seven laps behind.

OnRoad OffRoad Racing win the Formula 5 division with an 11th overall finish. Meanwhile, KSDS claimed the win in the F6 class with a 21st overall and 3-Musketeers Racing topped all entries in the F7 division with a 24th overall finish.

The CMRA returns to action with round two of its series on March 22-23 at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas. The Cresson round will include a 2-hour Shogun Formula Mini Endurance race, a 4-hour Big Bike Endurance race and a full slate of sprint racing which will pay double points.

Dunlop N-Tec tires set new track record and dominate at Oak Hill.

North Texas Superbikes sponsored and Dunlop N-Tec equipped riders garnered 50% of the total expert wins this weekend during the Central Motorcycle Racing Association’s opening round at Oak Hill raceway in Henderson, TX.

Ty Howard continued his early season rampage winning 3 races and breaking his own long standing track record that was set in 2005, setting the new mark at 1:21:570. “I wish I would have put race gas in my 750, it would have been good for 8 or 9 more horsepower, the conditions were right and we could have shaved another half a second.” Howard set the new record on Dunlop’s newest tire the N-Tec D211GP which was available for the first time.

New Dunlop recruit Dustin Dominquez quickly took advantage of his choice to switch tire brands over the winter, winning both B classes and running his quickest laps ever at the hill on the new N-Tec’s. Randy Kienast, the only other rider during the weekend to run under the previous lap record, battled hard with Kevin Pate and Howard, all on Dunlop’s, to win A Superbike. Kienast also led the last lap in Formula 1, but was nipped by Howard when they caught a lapper and could not get back by at the finish.

Other notable finishers included teen phenom Jake Lewis, who dominated the lightweight classes wining Lightweight Twins, F2, Clubman, and 125 GP, novice new comer Blair Krogh won D Superstock, D Superbike, and Lightweight Twins, and Willie Carter won novice A Superstock.

North Texas Superbikes offers the full line of Dunlop N-Tec tires which will be available at all rounds of CCS South and the CMRA racing series. North Texas Superbikes supports all racing and track day riding in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana and may be contacted at 1-866-536-1279.
