Kenny Leroy Roberts’ Team Roberts will not race at the MotoGP event at the Shanghai Circuit in China April 29 May 1, according to a source close to the team. Team Roberts is currently running the first-generation version of a KTM-manufactured V-four engine in its Proton KR chassis. The team only has a small number of the engines and a limited supply of engine parts while it awaits a second-generation engine from KTM, which it expects to receive at round four of the MotoGP World Championship May 13-15 at Le Mans, France. Two engine failures during the recent MotoGP event at Estoril, Portugal left the team with little choice but to stay home in England and wait for the new engines from KTM.
