School has never sounded so appealing for Tasmania’s Year 9 students who have been invited to Round 2 of the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championships at Symmons Plains in March. Series organiser, International Entertainment Group, has invited the Grade 9 students to attend the first day of the event to give them a first hand look at the teams, series and technical side of the sport. Students will get an insight in Dunlop’s tyre fitting procedures, Superbike and Supersport practise sessions and will be given an overview of Scrutineering and the safety side of the sport. The enthusiastic teenagers will also have the opportunity to meet and greet some of the sports top riders including homegrown Superbike rider Brad Wootton. “Everyone knows the value in competing at your home track. It’s not just about knowing the circuit but also having your family, friends, sponsors and supporters there that makes a big difference,” Wootten said. “These students are the next generation of supporters, track marshals and maybe even team personnel so it is great for the schools to come out and see the different aspects of our sport and that it has a high degree of professionalism. “Tasmanians love their motorsport and Superbike racing has traditionally been well supported. Given the extra exposure and the great Tasmanian March weather, the combination will hopefully make for a great weekend with a bumper crowd,” he added. Symmons Plains has held the Superbike Championships since the mid- eighties and has helped foster some of the sport’s most successful riders such as Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan. Tasmanian schools aren’t the only people getting special consideration, all Motorcycle Tasmania Members along with all Motorcycle Club Members will receive $5.00 off each ticket at Round 2 between March 4th-6th. Flyers have been sent out to all Tasmanian schools holding information for the free passes into Round 2 of the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship.
