It rained at last year’s AMA Superbike event at Road America, making the sealer patches in several corners treacherously slippery and resulting in several crashes. Riders were not shy about voicing their complaints on the situation. Those complaints, however, were evidently heard and taken to heart, as Road America has repaved several of the corners in question edge-to-edge, including turns three, five, six, eight and 12, also known as “Canada Corner.” The vast majority of riders polled by Roadracingworld.com during Thursday’s promoter practice at the 4.0-mile road course praised the work, saying it may not result in faster dry lap times but should offer better, more consistent traction in the wet. Complaints included a significant bump at the transition of old-to-new pavement at the entrance to Canada Corner and the wish that the bump in turn one, which was not repaved, would have been removed. Other recent improvements at Road America include a brand new medical center in the newly-expanded paddock.
