Pirelli Makes It Official: Richard Moore Is New Road Racing Manager

Pirelli Signs New Road Racing Manager Aiding Pirelli’s dedicated mission to win races and championships at the professional level in North America, is newly appointed Road Racing Manager Richard Moore. Moore is well known and respected in the industry for his international racing achievements and considerable resume as a consultant and importer of motorcycle accessories. Moore’s racing successes include numerous AFM 600 and 750 Stock Production championships, a two-time rider for the WERA Western 24 Hour race-winning team, rider for Vance & Hines, two-time 250 lap record holder at Willow Springs, a rider on the 1987 first-placing privateer team in the Suzuka FIM 8 Hour World Championship Endurance race (13th overall), and a rider of the 2nd-place overall 1991 FIM 24 Hours of Le Mans team of Kawasaki France, just to mention a few highlights. Since 1987 Moore has owned and operated Indigo Sports, a supplier of high-performance motorcycle parts. During those years Moore also consulted for companies such as Aprilia, Robrady Design, and Tsukigi Racing. “Pirelli looks forward to taking our racing heritage to a new level with the help of Richard. It’s clear from his experiences that he’s the most qualified Road Racing Manager Pirelli has ever had in the States and in this exciting time for us he is a perfect fit in our strategy to be a consistent top player,” said Pirelli’s Marketing Manager Chris Wall. “We’ve long used racing to improve our products but now that we are going full out to benefit from the marketing of winning on Sunday, Richard is just right for our business plan,” said Mark Wilhelm, Pirelli Tire North American General Manager. “Richard understands racing, riders, and the workings of the motorcycle industry. Most importantly, he knows what it’s like to be a winner.” Moore said, “In just a few short weeks I’ve participated in our Daytona tire testing and met with numerous Pirelli engineers. The whole company is stoked and hungry for competition. I feel as if I’m in a special place at a special time and I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
