Dani Pedrosa’s participation in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in Monterey, California, is questionable as the injuries he sustained in a crash during the German Grand Prix are evaluated. Pedrosa crashed while holding a sizeable lead in the wet German Grand Prix July 13. According to sources in Europe, the 22-year-old Spaniard suffered bone fractures in his left wrist and left index finger and sprains to his right ankle and the middle finger on his left hand. Pedrosa’s ankle was originally thought to be broken. Pedrosa underwent an arthroscopic surgical procedure on his left wrist fracture at the hands of Dr. Xavier Mir (who has worked with Pedrosa previously) July 13 at the USP Universitari Dexeus, in Barcelona, Spain. A decision on whether Pedrosa will or will not attempt to participate in the U.S. Grand Prix is expected to be made by Wednesday afternoon. Pedrosa is currently second in the MotoGP World Championship, 16 points behind Valentino Rossi.
