Braselton, Ga. (March 31, 2009)-The red Georgia clay, the esses, Turn 12. Road Atlanta has arrived! Paradigm Racing is thrilled to be returning to their home track for this weekend’s round of the 2009 AMA Pro Racing Daytona SportBike series. The return home has truly energized the team after a somewhat disappointing pair of races at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. At the Fontana round rider Barrett Long was caught up incidents in each of the event’s two races that caused him to finish below what he and the team were capable of. The weekend began well with Long making his first SuperPole of the season and starting from 9th position on the grid for Saturday’s race. However, only a few laps in a rider fell just in front of Long forcing him to check up and lose numerous positions to avoid being involved. Consequently, the race became an uphill battle that saw Long scramble to a 13th place finish. Sunday’s activities also began well with a tremendous pace in the warm-up session that saw Long in 3rd place despite the tremendous amount of rain and dicey track conditions. Just as race two began, another rider missed the chicane forcing Long to follow him off the track rather than be caught up in a collision. As a result, Long fell from his starting position all the way to 22nd before battling back to finish in 18th. These results pushed Paradigm Racing from 6th to 11th position in the overall point standings. However, the arrival of this weekend’s race has elevated the level of excitement to a height not seen since the team’s spectacular top ten finish in the Daytona 200. The expectations are lofty and the enthusiasm is palpable as the team returns home to compete at the historic Road Atlanta track. Crew chief Perry Melneciuc makes his home just miles from the track and is energized for this weekend’s pair of races. “Fontana was a bit stressful for the whole team. The cross country travel, the rain, the cold weather, and that’s without even mentioning the races themselves! However, that is all behind us and were all back at home for one of our favorite events on the calendar. We went back and changed some things from Fontana and are going to have one of the best bikes on the grid. I’m really looking forward to this weekend!” Rider Barrett Long is also very enthused to be at Road Atlanta this weekend. “I just really like this track! The way that it is laid out is perfect for motorcycles in my opinion. Road Atlanta really gives the rider the opportunity to show what he and the bike are capable of. I’m really digging the new Yamaha R6 that we have. It’s a great bike and my crew have done an awesome job getting it setup. With the power and agility that this bike has I think we are in a good position for this round.” For more information on Paradigm Racing go to www.paradigmracing.net.
