No break for the MotoGP World Championship as the Ducati Team arrive in Spain for the Aragón Grand Prix |
Just three days after last Sunday’s race at the Misano World Circuit, the MotoGP teams and riders have already arrived in Spain for another event, the fourteenth of the season and the third in the country this year: The Aragón Grand Prix, which as always takes place at the Motorland circuit close to Alcañiz.
Andrea Dovizioso has already been on the podium at the Spanish track twice before – in 2012 he was third and last year he scored an excellent second place. The rider from Forlì comes to Aragón with the aim of once again fighting for the podium and trying to make up some points on the championship leader, Márquez. Danilo Petrucci, who moved back into third overall in the championship at Misano, wants to get back to competitive form and fight for some good results again. At Aragón Danilo is confident he can gain advantage from the good performance that the Desmosedici GP showed on this track last year. In the Riders’ standings Dovizioso is 93 points down on Márquez, while Petrucci has a gap of 2 on fourth-placed Álex Rins. In the Teams’ standings, the Ducati Team holds on to its lead with 333 points, while Ducati is second in the Constructors’ classification. Andrea Dovizioso (#04 Ducati Team) – 2nd (182 points) Danilo Petrucci (#9 Ducati Team) – 3rd (151 points) The first MotoGP free practice session for the Ducati Team riders will be on Friday 20th September at 09.55 (CET), while the race is now scheduled for Sunday 22nd September at 13.00 (CET), one hour earlier than usual.
