Mathew Scholtz And Yamalube/Westby Racing Are Hoping The Cream Rises To The Top This Weekend In America’s Dairyland
Tulsa, OK – May 30, 2018 – Round 4 of the 2018 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship gets under way this Friday at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and the 4.05-mile, 14-turn natural road course is a favorite stop for Mathew Scholtz and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team.
“It’s the very first American racetrack that I competed on when I came to the U.S. back in 2016,” Mathew said. “And last year, we took the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship lead at Road America and never relinquished it. So, Road America is a special place for the team and me.”
With a Superbike race win and five podium finishes out of six races thus far in the 2018 season, Mathew and the team will be looking to continue their success this weekend at “America’s National Park of Speed.” They’re also hoping that their recent participation in a Performance Riding Experience Track Day at VIRginia International Raceway will reap dividends at Road America.
“The VIR Test was great for us, and we made a big step forward,” commented Mathew. “So, big thanks to the folks at P.R.E. for giving us some seat time. As for Road America, it’s a fast track with hard braking zones, and I really like the layout. It’s one of my favorite tracks because it reminds me of some of the long circuits that I raced on in Europe. And, now that we’re racing in Superbike, I can really exploit the top speed of the Yamaha YZF-R1. Plus, the scenery, the grounds, and especially the fans at Road America are topnotch.”
Superbike Qualifying Practice sessions begin on Friday, and Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Saturday at 11:30 PM Central Time. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:30 PM Central, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday also at 3:30 PM Central.

Yamaha bLU cRU Riders set sights on Round 4 of the 2018 MotoAmerica Series
Cypress, CA – May 30, 2018 – The 2018 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship resumes this weekend with Round 4 of the series taking place at the legendary Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The 4.05-mile, 14-turn road course is a favorite stop for many Yamaha bLU cRU riders, and it sets the stage for an always-exciting weekend of racing in the Midwest.
Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing Superbike Team
Cameron Beaubier has faced a few challenges since the start of the series this year, but he has led many laps along the way to consistently place his Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing R1 on the podium in all but one race. With Road America being one of his favorite racing venues, the Two-Time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion is ready to capture his first win of the season.
Garrett Gerloff will return to racing this weekend after being forced to withdraw from both races at Round 3 in Virginia, where injuries he sustained in a crash on the opening lap of Saturday’s Superbike Race 1 rendered him unable to ride. Gerloff will arrive at Road America fully-healed, and the Superbike class Rookie intends to place his Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing R1 back on the podium again.
Cameron Beaubier – #6 YZF-R1
“The last few weeks I’ve spent a decent amount of time on my dirt bike, but I’m getting antsy to throw a leg back over my R1 at one of my favorite tracks on the calendar. I feel like we are going into this race in a good spot.”
Garrett Gerloff – #31 YZF-R1
“Everything has been really good since I got out of the hospital in Virginia. I was able to do some light cycling a few days after the accident and went from there. My body feels more than ready to fight at the front in Wisconsin! I also was able to go to the French MotoGP race and watch the epic action, thanks to HJC helmets. It was awesome to watch the best in the world up-close, and I hope to take that intensity to Road America this weekend.”
