Long-Time Race Official John E. Shepard, R.I.P.

Long-time race official John E. Shepard, of Monroe, Georgia, died this morning in Lawrenceville, Goegira. He was 84.

Shepard worked with WERA for 33 years, serving as a pit marshal and technical inspector.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1962 and made his living as an Electrical Engineer.

He is survived by wife Dianne Singleton, daughters Diane Shepard Tribou and Deanna Shepard-Cattie; grandchildren Kristina Mobley, Alex Mullins, James Mullins, John Mullins, Zach Mullins, Jonathan Parks, Niki Parks, and James Strickland; and many friends. He was preceded in death by wife Jacquelyn Shepard and daughter Michele Mullins.
