A new U.S. Grand Prix is headed to Miami Homestead Speedway in Homestead, Florida.

International Speedway Corporation, which operates Miami Homestead Speedway, has reached an agreement with Dorna, (the company which owns the promotional rights to the MotoGP World Championship), to host a round of the series at Homestead.

That’s what Dorna representatives were saying at this weekend’s MotoGP event in Valencia, Spain.

The reincarnated U.S. GP will start in 2004.

ISC had considered holding a GP at another of its tracks, Watkins Glen, but the estimated cost of the work required to get Watkins Glen to meet GP standards was excessive.

Five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan inspected both Watkins Glen and Homestead for Dorna during a trip to the U.S. earlier this year, and reported that Homestead needs far less work to meet GP specs.
