MCRCB, the sanctioning body of the British Superbike Championship (BSB), has announced via the official BSB website (www.britishsuperbike.com) that it has decided to institute single-brand control tires for the 2008-2009 British Superbike and Supersport Championships. “Since September 22nd MCRCB Events Limited has collated a large amount of relevant information from participating teams and the industry,” read the announcement on the BSB website. “Other motor sport championship structures around the World were also researched and there is compelling evidence that the application of this regulation will address the most pertinent issue being debated in Worldwide motorsport; The equal distribution of a consumable product, which has the clear ability to influence the results of the competition. “Other key findings were the amount of annual competition budget allocated to tyre purchase and the amount of tyres consumed during test and race events. Both these areas will be addressed in this process.” MCRCB Events Limited will soon post an “Invitation to Tender” on its website (www.mcrcb-events.co.uk), opening a 10-working-day period for tire manufacturers to submit proposals. After this 10-day period, MCRCB will announce when its decision will be made.
