AHRMA Hires A New Executive Director, With Bankruptcy Experience

Cowell named AHRMA executive director The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association’s roadrace director is now the organization’s new executive director. Cindy Cowell of Bolivia, N.C., has been named by the AHRMA Board of Trustees to replace David Lamberth, who resigned at the end of November. An AHRMA roadrace official since 1994, Cowell has served as assistant safety (race control) director, worker coordinator, safety director and most recently roadrace director. In the latter capacity, she has been in charge of all aspects of AHRMA’s successful roadrace program, from scheduling to on-the-ground operations. She also suggested and volunteered to be a part of AHRMA’s Roadrace Promotions Committee. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she was co-owner and office manager of Complete Restorations Inc., a large auto restoration business in Michigan specializing in concours-quality vehicles. She successfully guided the business through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Cowell also has additional office-management experience and has worked as an paramedic. Her husband, Andrew, is an active AHRMA roadracer and volunteer. “The AHRMA board was presented with the enviable but difficult choice among 26 highly qualified applicants for the position. After interviews and lengthy deliberation, Ms. Cowell was selected to be the best fit to be the future leader of AHRMA,” said board Chairman Dave Janiec. “We welcome Cindy to the high profile job as executive director, confident that she will help lead AHRMA out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy and to additional success and growth in our off-road, dirt track and roadrace programs.” For her part, Cowell comment, “The success of AHRMA has long been a goal of mine and I now have the opportunity to make that a continuing reality.” Effective Jan. 4, the new contact information for the national office is: 2375 Midway Rd SE, Bolivia, NC 28422; 910-253-8012; fax 910-253-8313; [email protected].
