VIR Working with Motorcycling Community to Find a Solution After speaking with Kerrigan Smith, Director of Track Operations at VIR (Virginia International Raceway), Aaron Stevenson and Ron Barrick have agreed to be the points of contact for the motorcycling community in an effort to find a solution to the recently installed controversial FIA curbing at VIR. Mr. Smith invited Ron Barrick to do an on-site inspection and has agreed to discuss the curbing situation with him. Stevenson contacted the owners/CEO’s of principal groups which conduct events at VIR to receive their endorsement to this course of action. Specifically: Evelyne Clarke (WERA), Kevin Elliott (ASRA/CCS), Keith Code (California Superbike Schools), Bob Blanford (NESBA) and Glen Goldman (TPM). All parties contacted agreed this plan would be an acceptable direction to take in hopes of finding a solution. Additional information will be released to the aforementioned organizations and media sources such as Roadracing World, Superbike Planet and Cycle News as it becomes available. Individuals desiring additional information should contact their respective organizations and/or media sources. While VIR offers no promises to alter or remove the curbing, Smith has said he will work with Barrick and Stevenson to find a workable solution so that motorcycle schools and events can continue at VIR. Ultimately, the final decision will rest with VIR’s management and owners.
