John Haner managed to not crash when the rear tire on his KWS Suzuki GSX-R1000 chunked and lost air on the west banking at Daytona International Speedway Sunday afternoon. The tire had a hole the size of a quarter that went through the tread and the carcass, allowing the air to rapidly escape. Haner was running a hard-compound DOT-labeled Dunlop 195/55 treaded tire on his GSX-R1000 in the CCS Unlimited Grand Prix race because the Dunlop vendor on site did not have any more slicks. The tire failed on the second lap of the five-lap race.
