Editorial note: MotoAmerica Talent Cup racer Jake Paige’s preparation was disrupted after his Tuesday flight from New York to Kuala Lumpur was canceled, delaying his arrival until Thursday. Having never ridden at Sepang International Circuit before, he missed practice and had to learn the circuit during qualifying and the races.

Palestinian-American MotoAmerica racer Mahdi Salem qualified 12th on his Honda in the Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup at Petronas Sepang International Circuit, in Malaysia, with a best lap of 2:18.482. Salem went on to finish 17th in Saturday’s 11-lap Race 1.

Australian rider Jake Paige qualified 13th on his Honda with a fastest lap of 2:18.687 before finishing 14th in Saturday’s Race 1.
