Continental’s new ContiSportAttack 5 expands the performance envelope of its predecessor, the ContiSportAttack 4, with more grip, better stability and quicker warmup. It is aimed at riders of supersport machines, riders who spend most of their time on back roads but do the occasional track day.

The improvements come from a refined compound formula and construction as well as a groove system designed to speed up the warmup time, to generate feel at maximum lean angle, and to provide maximum grip in the wet at the lean angles most riders use in those conditions.
“Every tread detail is there for a reason,” Rafael Kascha, Product Developer of Motorcycle Tires at Continental, said during the new tire introduction.
Micro-grooves at the edge of the tire help keep the tire in its optimal temperature range, with increased grooving at the mid-shoulder displacing more water at intermediate lean angles. Varying the steel belting of the tire – more belt at the center, less on the edges – creates a more solid feel when braking and initiating a turn, while providing more feel at greater lean angles.
The tire comes in a 120/70 front and 160/60, 180/55, 190/55 and 200/55 rears.
More, from a news release issued by Continental:
Continental motorcycle tires are redefining performance. The ContiSportAttack 5 is the latest generation of supersport tires for those who seek maximum driving dynamics without compromise. Developed on the racetrack; perfected for the road – the ContiSportAttack 5 delivers outstanding grip, superior cornering, precise steering response and lightning-fast warm-up. This latest evolution of the supersport tire will be available in the first quarter of 2026.
Supersport positioning: an optimal balance between sport and hypersport
The ContiSportAttack 5 is even sportier than its predecessor, the ContiSportAttack 4, and is designed as an 80/20 tire for the supersport segment. This makes it the ideal choice for riders who want to get the most out of their (super) sport and naked motorcycles – both on winding country roads and during occasional racetrack training sessions.
“The ContiSportAttack 5 represents years of intensive development work on a wide variety of roads and racetracks around the world. Our aspiration was to achieve improvements in all core characteristics without compromise”, explained Rafael Kascha, Product Developer of Motorcycle Tires at Continental:
Outstanding grip thanks to the BlackChili compound with a new formula, which ensures better adherence to the road and optimized abrasion patterns during racetrack training.
Superior cornering thanks to an innovative steel belt arrangement with MultiZoneBelt technology. Closer windings of the steel belt at the center of the tire provide greater stability when riding straight ahead, while wider windings on the tire shoulder guarantee more contact area and confidence when leaning into corners. At the transition from the center of the tire to the shoulder, the different winding spacing enables easy and agile steering. More precise steering response thanks to the new carcass construction, in which the stiffness zones of the tire vary in a targeted manner. Faster warm-up thanks to specially optimized tread zones that are tailored to the respective riding situation. Thanks to the TractionSkin surface, the ContiSportAttack 5 performs safely and quickly right from the start.
The ContiSportAttack 5 is the perfect choice for current supersport motorcycles such as the BMW S 1000 RR and Yamaha YZF-R9, as well as powerful naked motorcycles such as the BMW S 1000 R, Kawasaki Z 900, and KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R EVO. The range of applications is 80 percent road, 20 percent racetrack – without tire pressure adjustment or tire warmers.
“Our target group is performers – riders who are technically skilled and progressive during their ride. For them, it’s all about sport riding at the highest level – and that’s exactly what the ContiSportAttack 5 offers them”, said Christoph Ettenhuber, Head of Business Field Motorcycle Tires at Continental.
The ContiSportAttack 5 combines racetrack performance with everyday usability. Designed for speeds of up to 320 km/h, depending on the tire size, the construction is suitable for road use without restrictions while the compound also performs well on challenging track days.
“We’ve developed a tire that can handle both sunday rides over mountain passes and racetrack training on closed courses – without compromising on performance,” emphasized Rafael Kascha, Product Developer of Motorcycle Tires at Continental.
The ContiSportAttack 5 will be introduced in the first quarter of 2026 with five key sizes for current supersport and naked motorcycle models:
120/70 ZR 17 M/C (58W) TL
160/60 ZR 17 M/C (69W) TL
180/55 ZR 17 M/C (73W) TL
190/55 ZR 17 M/C (75W) TL
200/55 ZR 17 M/C (78W) TL
