MotoGP first Motorsport to partner with Sportradar Integrity Services

MotoGP have announced today that starting with the 2017 season, the MotoGP, the Moto2 and the Moto3 seasons will be overseen by Sportradar’s Integrity Services, as part of a wider, mulit-year integrity partnership.

In what is a first for the motorsport industry, Sportradar, a global leader in understand and leveraging the power of sports data and content, will be providing a range of integrity services across the most prominent motorcycles races worldwide. The award-winning Fraud Detection System will monitor and analyse betting movements and patterns across all 54 races of the 3 year-long seasons. In addition, Sportradar will deliver five Education and Prevention Workshops to a wide range of participants and stakeholders, as well as providing an e-learning program for all riders and teams.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director Integrity Services at Sportradar added: “We do speak to sports who feel distant or immune to the problem of fixing. That is not MotoGP’s stance. They have been inquisitive, invested and definitive. They have sought the full suite of our Integrity Services to ensure that no stone is left unturned and that no compromises are made. We look forward to working with them and their stakeholder for the next few years and helping them keep MotoGP an example of best practice in the world of motorsports”.

Asked why MotoGP decided to partner with Sportradar, Dornas CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “Prevention of any problem is always more prudent than cure and for sure betting related sport fixing is a problem. It is a problem that thankfully has not hit our sport but it is one that is causing real concern across other sports worldwide. We do not want to get to the point where we are remedying a problem that has encroached onto motorcycle racing, if we can avoid it by being proactive and resolute. This is what this partnership is about: about education, about deterrence and about defences.”
