WERA Recaps Last Weekend's Event At Miller, Previews This Coming Weekend's Events At Grattan And VIR


WERA Motorcycle Roadracing will have two Pirelli/Sportsman events this weekend, August 2/3, at Grattan Raceway in Michigan for the North Central riders and at Virginia International Raceway in

Virginia for the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast riders. Both weekends are double header rounds of the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series. The VIR round is presented by Marietta Motorsports and will feature the Integrity RV Senior Superbike Class and on Saturday there will be laps at lunch to raise money for the Victory Junction Camp! Tickets available at the gate for both events and camping is available at both venues.

Miller Motorsports Park hosted their Bike Fest and WERA Motorcycle Roadracing’s Pirelli/WERA West Sportsman Series presented by Lucas Oil and featuring the EZ-UP Instant Shelters C Production Novice Class and Kenny Anderson Formula 3 Class, the WERA National Challenge Series featuring the Michelin/WERA Superbike Class ran on Saturday and then Sunday these two Series were joined by the riders of the USBA for a point paying round in their MOM Series. The action was awesome and Chad Swain and Marcel Irnie put on the show in the big bike classes; Javelin Broderick, Sahar Zvik, Luis Quinones, Gavin Elstad and Chad Swain put on a show in the 600 Classes both days. Daniel Costilla, Gabriel Hernandez and Nic Swensgard joined the seasoned vets Jeff Pratt, Bruce Lind and Peter Yates to put on a great show in the Formula 2 and Kenny Anderson Formula 3 class both days! 

 In the Formula 1 Class local rider, Oleg Pianykh joined the battle for the podium as did Dean Mizdal and Michael Bradshaw – Irnie took the top spot, with Pianykh second and Mizdal third. Sunday saw the Formula 1 finish with Pianykh on top followed by Irnie and then Swain. 

Josh Serne dominated the Lightweight classes this weekend with wins in the Novice Ranks both Saturday and Sunday! Robert Perez took his BMW1000 to a win in the A Superbike and Formula One Novice classes on Saturday. Perez suffered brake failure on Sunday and had a helo ride to the hospital – reports are that he is healing from his injuries and will return to racing soon! In the Michelin/WERA Superbike Feature Class – Oleg Pianykh took the win Saturday with Michael Bradshaw in second and Chad Swain in tow for third. 

Sunday the feature 600 Superstock Expert race the win went to Gavin Elstad on a borrowed Yamaha 600 he had to adapt to after his ride met the track in the Attitudes during Saturday’s practice and basically destroyed itself. Elstad proved he can adapt and took the win over Svik and Swain on Sunday. 

Sunday saw Irnie best Pianykh for the win in the Michelin/WERA Superbike race with Bradshaw rounding out the top three! Johnny Rock Page won the Senior Superbike Heavyweight Race on Saturday with Tim Chin taking Novice honors and Fabrice Vilder taking the win in Senior Superbike Mediumweight Race Lance Gittinger took the Novice win. 

Sunday saw Bradshaw take the win in Heavyweight as Chin repeated in the Novice Class with Vilder and Gittinger doing the same on Sunday. For all the results in all classes visit!
