Six Events Planned in 2011

LEXINGTON, OH (November 15, 2010) TrueSports, Inc., owner and operator of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, announced the schedule for the track's 50th Season of Racing today.

The 50th Season of Racing at Mid-Ohio stretches from next June through September and is comprised of six events spanning several series and classes. TrueSports, Inc. has announced the theme for the historic 2011 season is "50 Years of Racing Excellence." Promotional offers, fan contests, celebrations and more are planned throughout the year to commemorate the track's past.

A classic event begins the year with the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio opening the season on June 24-26. The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) will provide numerous classes of racing stretching from decade to decade and Porsche will be honored as the 2011 Featured Marque. Saturday's British Car Showdown and Sunday's Concours d'Elegance lead the off-track displays in the infield.

On July 8-10, the Wiseco SuperBike 100 Doubleheader highlights the 29th edition of the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire. AMA Pro Racing's three headlining classes, American SuperBike, Daytona SportBike and SuperSport are scheduled to return in longest actively running event on the Mid-Ohio schedule.

After a weekend off, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course welcomes the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) for the 17th time on July 22-24 as the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days roll into town. Tens of thousands of motorcycles from every era will be at the track during this massive two-wheeled extravaganza. The days are filled with North America's largest motorcycle swap meet, a Marque of the Year display, demo rides, symposiums and class after class of road and off-road racing.

The weekend of August 5-7 marks the fifth consecutive year the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron and the IZOD IndyCar Series combine for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge / The Honda Indy™ 200 at Mid-Ohio. These series rarely race at the same venue over the course of a season, not to mention sharing a weekend. The action and number of on-track hours of practice, qualifying and racing make this one of the busiest and most exciting weekends of the year. The support series appearing this weekend will be announced closer to the start of the season.

The NASA Championships presented by Toyo Tires returns to Mid-Ohio on September 9-11. The best National Auto Sport Association racers representing over a dozen of regions throughout the country will compete in three days worth of championship-deciding races in more than 20 classes. Over 450 competitors were entered in the series' last trip to Mid-Ohio, making up the largest car count of the year.

The EMCO Gears Classic presented by KeyBank finishes the 50th Season of Racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on September 16-18. This race weekend also serves as the season finale for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and will complete a championship-crowning month in Lexington, OH. The two hour and 45 minute headline race on Saturday, September 17 will be supported by races from series to be announced at a later date.

"Each year, with help from our sponsors and partners, we try to put together a schedule that will provide fans a diverse, exciting spectrum of racing. Mid-Ohio was built by Mansfield-area businessman Les Griebling as a place for sports car racing in 1962 with its first races sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). As the track grew in popularity and stature over time, it was eventually sold to Jim Trueman in 1982. Trueman invested millions into the facility and lured major series such as CART and IROC developing the track as one of the most premier venues in the country. Over the past five decades, thousands of races both professional and amateur have been contested at Mid-Ohio with some of the greatest drivers and riders in history earning wins. The esteemed fraternity of Mid-Ohio winners includes names such as Mario Andretti, Mark Donohue, Emerson Fittapaldi, Dario Franchitti , Hurley Haywood, Bobby Rahal, Jackie Stewart and Al Unser, Jr., to name a few.

A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road-racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15 turn, and a 2.25- mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex is located in Lexington, Ohio, near Mansfield, 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland. The track has been called the most competitive course in the U.S. and annually hosts a diverse lineup of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional drivers and riders. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is owned and operated by TrueSports, Inc.
