ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, April 29, 2009 – SWIGZ.COM Pro Racing announced today that rider Chip Yates (AMA #89) has been approved to race in the World Supersport race at Miller Motorsports Park by Infront Motor Sports, promoter of the FIM Superbike World Championship. The 600cc World Supersport race, which takes place over the weekend of May 29-31, 2009, will be Yates’ first world level event. Chip Yates: “Obviously we have our hands full doing a good job in the AMA Daytona SportBike championship, which is our team’s first priority, but when this opportunity came up, we decided to jump at the chance to go racing for a day with the best 600 riders in the world!” The Miller World Supersport race does not conflict with Yates’ regularly scheduled AMA Daytona SportBike appearances at AMA Infineon May 15-17, and AMA Laguna Seca July 3-5. The SWIGZ.COM team has confirmed its entry but is still asking for additional support from the U.S. racing community in the form of either, 1) a loaner bike capable of running at the world level, or 2) a built 2006-2007 GSX-R600 motor for Chip’s AMA bike capable of power output in the 130+hp range, or 3) modest funds to help the team lease a world class bike for the weekend. Anybody interested in participating in this unique, world level opportunity should contact crew chief Jimmy Summers at [email protected].
