Chris Siebenhaar, Hon CBR600RR, 2:34.815 More, from a press release issued by M4 EMGO Suzuki: HASKOVEC ON FORMULA XTREME FRONT ROW AT INFINEON RACEWAY Team M4 EMGO Suzuki spent much of the opening day of the Infineon Raceway AMA weekend playing catch up. While the majority of their top-level rivals had tested extensively tested at the Sonoma, CA circuit prior to the weekend, Vincent Haskovec, Geoff May, and their crews worked all-out to optimize their set-ups and get up to speed in record time. By the end of the day, their efforts rewarded them with significant progress and the promise of more to come over the next two days. Haskovec put his Pirelli-shod GSX-R600 on the front row for Saturday’s 60k Formula Xtreme race. The Czech Republic native circulated the 2.22-mile race course with a best time of 1:39.514, good enough for fourth overall and a starting position on the outside of row one. “We’re in fourth and not too far back on the charts,” Haskovec said of FX qualifying. “I feel pretty good about the race. Considering that we hadn’t tested here and were pretty lost in the morning while our competitors were basically ready to go, we’re not unhappy with what we accomplished today. We know what direction to go and I think we should be even more competitive in the race on Saturday.” A short time later, Haskovec piloted his Superstock-spec GSX-R1000 to a top-ten performance in qualifying for the premier Superbike class. He ended the day ranked tenth at 1:39.173. Earlier in the day, the squad focused their efforts in the Superstock and Supersport practice sessions in preparation of the Saturday’s qualifying for the classes, and more importantly, Sunday’s finals. May was an impressive sixth best in the Supersport free session aboard his GSX-R600. The Georgian’s 1:40.294 saw him the rank as the fastest Suzuki-mounted rider in the class on Saturday. Geoff also performed admirably on his 1000cc Suzuki GSX-R in the Superstock practice. May led the charge for the team by running eighth fastest overall, with a 1:40.151. Haskovec was a short distance behind, clocking a 1:40.516 to end the session in eleventh. Team M4 EMGO Suzuki should prove even busier on Saturday, with Formula Xtreme and Superbike races, as well as final qualifying for Superstock and Supersport, on the day’s slate.
