TYCO SUZUKI ‘REV UP’ FOR ASSEN’S ‘CATHEDRAL OF MOTORCYCLING’

British Superbike Championship – Round 10, Assen, Netherlands
It’s Cathedral of Motorcycling time this coming weekend for Tyco Suzuki during round 10 of the British Superbike Championship at Assen in the Netherlands; and following on from double pole position qualifying last time out at Donington Park – both Tyco Suzuki BSB riders, John Hopkins and Josh Waters, are fired up for the challenge ahead.
John Hopkins:
“We were pretty dominant during free practice and qualifying at Donington on the Tyco Suzuki and I was confident of some podium action, but a mistake in race one pretty much ruined the weekend goals for us. I’ve said all along that the last four circuits on the calendar suit the package and are tracks that I like, so we’re here at Assen with the same goals as we had at Donington a fortnight ago – but the plan is to complete the job this weekend.”
Josh Waters:
“Donington was a good weekend for us after losing some time in the early sessions and the more I ride the Tyco Suzuki the more confident I get. The boys always do a great job; there’s a great atmosphere in the garage and that helps a lot. Assen is a new circuit for me, but I’ll feel my way in the early sessions and expect to be in that top six mix in qualifying. The goal is to be right in there as close to the sharp end as possible and I’m hungry for more podium action.”
Taylor Mackenzie – British Supersport:
“I’ve never been so angry or frustrated after a race as I was at Donington. I got myself in a great position on my GSX-R600 and had I held station for a lap or two, I’m confident we could have finally got that first Supersport podium this year for Tyco Suzuki. I just wasn’t positive enough with the down change, which is easy to do coming into Goddard’s, but that’s racing. It’s another lesson learned and this weekend I’m really looking forward to Assen. No big outlandish predictions, but I know what I have to do.”
Philip Neill – Team Manager:
“As the boys have said already, the goal is to build on the positives from Donington, which was our two pole positions in the Superbike class and Taylor knows where he went wrong in Supersport after a great start in race one. We don’t have added pressure like other teams in both classes chasing championships, so there’s no need for any of the guys to be conservative this weekend. I’ll be looking for one hundred percent effort all round and the goal – make no mistake about it – is GSX-R podiums.”
