Racer Abe Stacey was killed in a truck crash Friday night in North Carolina, while returning from North Carolina to Inman, South Carolina. Stacey was licensed with WERA and AMA Pro. According to his friend Brandon Cole, “Abe and his friend Brent Martin were taking some bikes to Jamie James’ place up above Asheville, North Carolina to have some dyno work done. On the way back Brent dozed off at around Hendersonville, North Carolina. They were eastbound on I-26 right about a mile from the South Carolina line and Brent said Abe must have went to sleep himself and woke up when they went off the left hand side of the Interstate into the median. “Abe apparently jerked the wheel back to the right when he woke up and they went straight back across the road and struck a real steep bank. The truck must have rolled numerous times by the looks of it. Brent said when he woke up the truck was outta control and that’s the last thing he remembers.” Funeral arrangements are pending and updates can be seen on the 461 Racing Facebook page, ~http://www.facebook.com/461Racing~.
