In spite of having his Suzuki debit card, all of his credit cards, his identification and $600 cash stolen along with his wallet during Friday practice, Vesrah Suzuki’s Brian Stokes went on to win three CCS races Saturday on the Las Vegas Classic Course in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Stokes’ best win of the day came in the Suzuki-contingency-paying Unlimited Supersport sprint over Robert Jensen, who had broken the track record earlier in the day during Formula USA qualifying.

Jensen and Stokes swapped the lead several times during the first laps, before Jensen seemed to take control through the middle of the seven-lap event. Running a fast pace of high-1:18s/low-1:19s through traffic, Jensen tried to get underneath a backmarker with less than two laps to go and didn’t quite make it.

“I got in too deep and ran out of talent,” joked Jensen, who was uninjured in the crash. “I got underneath him and made it past him, but I started drifting out wide at the exit. I think he must have been committed to his line, and his front wheel clipped my rear wheel. He was a good sport about it. He came over to me and said, ‘F—king lappers, huh?'”

“I sat down with Freddie Spencer a few days ago with a track map and he gave me a few pointers,” said Stokes. “So I felt like I had something for him. He was actually slowing me up in a few areas. And I feel good about that, because he just set the track record.”

After Jensen’s crash, Stokes went on to win comfortably over Arclight Suzuki’s Scott Harwell, Racers Edge’s Dale Kieffer, Chris Ulrich and Kevin Gordon.

Stokes also won in Unlimited Grand Prix and Middleweight Supersport on his Pirelli-shod Suzukis.

As far as his wallet being stolen, Stokes said, “Someone who knew what they were doing came through the pits and only stole wallets of even-numbered 600cc racers while that group was on the track. I’m just wondering how I’m going to (fly) home without my ID. Luckily, my dad and my family are here to support me.”

Seven wallets were stolen from the Las Vegas Classic Course paddock Friday. Several were recovered in the trash can of a nearby retail store, after the thief attempted to use one of the stolen credit cards there. Police were called to investigate the incident, according to CCS officials.
