SCRAMP DONATIONS FOR 2005 SEASON EXCEED $200,000 Charities, Service Organizations Benefit from Service to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca MONTEREY, Calif. (February 23, 2006) The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) announced today distribution in 2005 of $208,715.71 for donations to area charities and service organizations for their faithful service in helping put on the major racing events at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. SCRAMP oversees the operation of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with its all-volunteer 25-member Board of Directors and 250 volunteer Assistant Directors. Since its inception in 1957, SCRAMP has contributed more than $11 million to the charities and service organizations that have participated in conducting the events at the world-renowned raceway. During its storied history now entering its 50th season, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca events have resulted in an economic impact to Monterey County of more than $1 billion. “SCRAMP is a not-for-profit corporation that is dependant on its many volunteers for its very existence,” said out-going SCRAMP President Don Ask. “Local charities and service groups have helped build Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca into one of the crown jewels of road racing circuits in the world by donating their time and talents to help conduct our diversified program each season.
