MotoAmerica Superbike racer Johnny Rock Page, age 47, was arrested early in the morning Thursday, May 12 in Tempe, Arizona.
According to a booking photo posted on the website of the Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff’s Department, www.mcso.org, Page was arrested and booked on the charge of Unlaw Flight From A Law Enforcement Vehicle.
Page currently resides in Hollywood, California, but he is originally from Phoenix, Arizona.
Contacted on his cell phone, Page told Roadracingworld.com that he was attempting to contact his ex-wife Ladena Page to set up a visitation with their child. Page said he hasn’t seen their daughter in seven years.
“I was leaving the house that I was at,” Page exclusively told Roadracingworld.com. “There was a group of people and I didn’t know who they were, because it was dark out. When I took off a car pulled in front of me, like tried to take me out, like trying to stop me.
“I took off. It freaked me out that they were trying to block me.”
Page, who was driving his Porsche 911 Twin Turbo S Cabriolet, said he later returned to the scene to try to find out what was going on, and he was arrested by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and charged with Unlawful Flight From A Law Enforcement Vehicle, which is a felony.
“They checked me for drugs, alcohol, [license] plates, [vehicle] registration,” said Page. “I had zero alcohol, but they thought something was off with me. I told them I just had a big crash [during the MotoAmerica Superbike race at Road Atlanta]. I told them I feel like my brain is still swollen from the accident and is still affecting my decisions right now.
“I went to court and stayed the night in jail. They didn’t make me post bond. They just let me go, but I do have to go back there for a court date sometime in May.”
Page started the 2016 season racing on an ADR Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R1 in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship. Page and the team parted ways shortly after Hemp American Media Group, a company that billed itself in a press release as a “marijuana company,” announced on April 26 its sponsorship of Page for the 2016 season.
