Mike Shreve Wins Two SMRI Races At Sandia Motor Speedway

Round One of the Law Tigers’ Sandia Motorcycle Road Racing Championships hosted by SMRI was held at Sandia Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 8, 2016. Mike Shreve threw down the gauntlet with dominating wins in Unlimited Grand Prix and Expert Open Superbike, opening his 2016 campaign with a flourish. Shreve qualified second in Unlimited Grand Prix but started well and never fell behind in a start to finish display of his talents. Kelcey Walker also showed well in his return to roadracing with a 2nd in ULGP and good showings in other classes. Chazz Niederman also showed he hasn’t lost a step after a four-year hiatus with wins in Expert Formula 1000 and Expert Middleweight Superbike.

The round was punctuated by the appearance of AMA Pro Motard rider Sean Butterman on his KTM 450 Motard with a win in Thunderbike and a good showing in other classes.
