A rain shower hit Donington Park at approximately 7:30 a.m. local time. The shower was brief but resulted in a heavy rain fall and a wet racing surface when the 250cc class, the first warm-up hit the track at 9:00 a.m. A dry line started to emerge by the time the MotoGP riders hit the track at 9:30 a.m., and a much wider dry line developed through the 20-minute session. Most MotoGP riders used rain tires throughout the session, however. Sunday’s weather forecast, according to www.uk.weather.com, calls for a 30-50% chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the day.
