Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha’s Garrett Gerloff will ride this coming weekend in the AMA Pro Road Racing event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in spite of suffered a bone fracture in his left forearm a little over two weeks ago.

Gerloff was running second in GoPro Daytona SportBike Race One June 21 at Barber Motorsports Park when he got tangled with Jake Lewis and crashed. In the process of falling, Gerloff’s left forearm was hit or run over, he said at the time, resulting in a hairline fracture in his left radius bone just above the 18-year-old Texan’s wrist.

That fracture, however, has very nearly healed, according to Gerloff, allowing him to compete this weekend in what may be the biggest event of the year.

“I’m good to go,” Gerloff told Roadracingworld.com Tuesday. “I just went back to the doctor and we did an x-ray and MRI, and I’m about 95% healed. The doctor said it won’t be as strong as it normally is, but he said I should be fine to ride. And I’ve been riding some motocross, no jumps or anything, but it’s been fine doing that.

“I’m really happy that it didn’t turn out to be as bad as I thought.”

Gerloff is currently eighth in the Daytona SportBike Championship point standings after five of 10 races with a best race finish of second in Race One at Road America.
