Pour On The bLU cRU Cheese As Yamaha Travels To Road America For Round Four Of The MotoAmerica Championship

Cypress, CA – May 27, 2015 – For the Yamaha bLU cRU road racing teams, the trip to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, is always special. Several crew members either hail from America’s Dairyland, or some of their family members are Wisconsinites. Also, four-time and defending AMA Superbike Champ Josh Hayes has long said that Road America’s 4.05-mile, 14-turn natural road course is one of his all-time favorite racetracks. His record of success at Road America–with seven Superbike wins and three second-place finishes in ten races over the past five years–has generated a lot of Hayes fans who consider him an honorary Cheesehead.

Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha: Hayes & Beaubier

In the first four rounds of the 2015 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, teammates Josh Hayes and Cameron Beaubier have collected all six race victories for their Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team. The all-new 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 has finished first in every Superbike race so far this season, with Josh and Cameron splitting the victories at the Circuit of The Americas, Cameron getting the double win at Road Atlanta, and Josh doubling up with two victories at VIRginia International Raceway, the 50th and 51st Superbike wins of his career.

Cameron and Josh come into Road America with Cameron leading the Championship by 16 points over Josh. Last year at Road America, in Cameron’s rookie Superbike season, the Californian won Superbike Race 1, with Josh finishing second. Then, in Superbike Race 2, Josh took the win. It’s a good thing that Cameron and Josh are close friends because they sure do spend a lot of time close to each other on the racetrack and in the points standings. Chances are, it’ll be more of the same this weekend at Road America, and who comes out on top is anyone’s guess.

MotoAmerica Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) begins at Road America on Saturday, May 30, at 2:10 PM CST. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Sunday, May 31, at 12:30 PM CST, and Superbike Race 2 is set for later on Sunday at 4:00 PM CST.

Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha: Gerloff & Beach

At VIR, JD Beach earned the MotoAmerica Supersport pole, finished second in Supersport 1 and got the victory in Supersport 2 aboard his #95 Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha YZR-R6. His results vaulted him over his teammate Garrett Gerloff and into first place in the 2015 Supersport Championship.

Garrett now trails by just one point, and did a heroic job in Virginia to get on the podium twice and salvage as many points as he could despite suffering a tipover early in the first Supersport qualifying session that fractured the little finger on his left hand. Still on the mend, the Texan comes into Road America with one Supersport victory so far this season, while JD has notched two wins in the Supersport class.

MotoAmerica Supersport Qualifying 1 is on Friday, May 29, at 1:50 PM CST. Final Supersport Qualifying is Saturday, May 30, at 9:50 PM CST, and Supersport Race 1 will go green later on Saturday at 1:00 PM CST. Supersport Race 2 is scheduled to start on Sunday, May 31, at 2:40 PM CST.
