Daytona Hosts Race Of Champions This Coming Weekend

Over 200 motorcycle road racing Champions are coming to compete at Daytona International Speedway October 21 23 for the 22nd Annual Race of Champions. Each year Daytona welcomes the finest riders from Championship Cup Series regions all over the country. More than 200 riders who have won regional class championships will come to prove that they are the best. Fans can expect to see the brightest regional stars rub elbows at speeds exceeding 170 miles per hour as they try to claim a 2005 CCS National Championship. . The Championship Cup Series has already crowned many regional champions. Overall Champion in the Florida region is Darren Luck. Jonny Moore is the overall winner for the Great Plains and Midwest region. The Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions share Nate Kern as an overall winner. Kern has nine class championships for the 2005 season. Kane Lasky is the overall champion in the Southwest region. Championship Cup Series, the nation’s largest sportsman level motorcycle road racing organization, will share the track with Formula USA offering up the chance to see some of tomorrow’s stars looking to move up from the CCS ranks to the Formula USA Championship Series. Each Formula USA weekend brings $90,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs between four premiere classes. Combine that with the CCS cash and prizes, and the racers will be competing for over $200,000 in cash and contingency prizes. The Race of Champions will mark the end of the 2005 season for Championship Cup Series and Formula USA Championship Series alike. This has been a banner year for Arclight Suzuki’s Jeff Wood who is poised to take home an unprecedented triple crown Championship in the Formula USA series. Wood is the point leader for SportBike, Formula SportBike and SuperBike classes. Dave Estok of Millville and Wildwood Harley Davidson Buell is also close to securing a championship in the Formula USA Thunderbike class Tickets for the event can be purchased at the gate.
