Jason Farrell, riding his Farrell Performance/US Chrome Kawasaki ZX-6R on Pirellis, earned the provisional pole position for the 77th Daytona 200 with a lap of 1:49.198 during the second of three qualifying sessions Friday at Daytona International Speedway. The outright motorcycle lap record for the 3.51-mile infield road course is 1:48.903, which was set by Valentin Debise during the 2017 Daytona 200.

“It’s going really good,” Farrell told Roadracingworld.com on pit lane. “These new Pirellis are worth a second compared to last year’s tires. And I did a lot of studying over the winter. I looked at aerodynamics and how I sit on the bike. And I studied the rulebook line-by-line. After all of these years, we’re really getting this bike dialed in.”
