Crevier joins Williams and Leon in the Diablo pit

Diablo Performance Racing has enlisted the talents of Canadian racing powerhouse Steve Crevier, the most successful racer in Canadian Motorcycle Road Racing history. He certainly needs no introduction to North American fans, with no less than thirteen Canadian National championships. “I’m very excited to be part of the privateer scene once again. Diablo is a big team with the support needed to succeed, but they still maintain the small team atmosphere – that’s what I love,” said Crevier.

Jeff Williams, who brought Diablo its first National victory at Shubenacadie last season, will be returning with a vengeance. The sometimes controversial, always exciting, Kingston native has found a team that suits his style. Michael Leon will also continue with Diablo after an injury plagued 2002 season.

Suzuki have renewed their relationship with the team and will provide GSX-R600 and 1000 machines for use in the Parts Canada Superbike and Yoshimura 600 Sportbike Championships. Steve Crevier is no stranger to Suzuki equipment, having won the AMA 600 Supersport Championship in (1998) riding a GSX-R 600.

“Our intention this year is to win Championships and now we have the firepower to do it. It will be a great season, with some big names expected to compete to our series. The level of competition will be high. And that’s how we want it, it will only make us stronger,” commented Eddy Brunet, Team Manager.

Jamie Barkley of Ottawa will build the Suzuki GSX-R motors. He intends to relocate to Diablo Performance Racing’s Montreal facility, bringing with him all his years of experience. Jamie’s carefully crafted motors have won more races then he can count. Peter Snell, Crevier’s trusted set-up man, also joins the team and will be responsible for chassis and suspension tuning this season. His ability to optimize the machine’s set-up to perform to the riders’ individual strengths will be invaluable.

In the new National Amateur 600 Sportbike class, Diablo will continue its tradition of supporting young Canadian Amateur riders with Yannick Beauregard, Sean Haydorn, Michel Grenier and Nicholas Coad.

To prepare for the 2003 season, Diablo Performance Racing will be heading south to their winter home for testing at Willow Springs. Also scheduled are the AMA races at Fontana and Sears Point.
