Emerging talent Garrett Carter, 16, won both the 125cc and 250cc Grand Prix races at the USGPRU event, held in conjunction with a Formula USA National, Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Carter was in a class of his own on his Team Stargel Aprilias, winning by 19 seconds in the 14-lap 125cc GP race and by nine seconds in the 14-lap 250cc event.

Bruce Lind Racing’s Nobi Iso took second in the 125cc GP on an Aprilia, just ahead of two more young guns, Josh Day, third, and Carter’s 16-year-old teammate Ryan Clay, fourth.

Day, 15, finished runner-up in the 250cc Grand Prix on his 1991 Yamaha TZ250, well clear of third-place Barrett Long and fourth-place Bill Himmelsbach, both former regulars of the AMA 250cc GP series.
