The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) honored its endurance champions at the annual awards banquet, held this past Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Waco Convention Center, in Waco, Texas. The CMRA would like to thank its competitors, sponsors, and spectators for making 2013 such an exciting season for the Texas-based club. Endurance grids were large, with an average of 30 teams per race for both Big Bike Endurance and Mini Endurance. The Village Idiots team of: Brandon Cleland, Chris Headley, John Orchard and Garet Tomlinson, rode their Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R6 to the Overall Big Bike Endurance championship, as well as bringing home the individual Big Bike Endurance class championship in C Superbike Endurance.

Team owner John Orchard had this to say, “The team has been at this for 13 years, and we’ve always been the underdog being on an R6 against the liter bikes. This year, as with others, our emphasis was on prep work, being consistent every time we raced, and just going the distance. It’s very gratifying to put it on the podium and finally end up on top at the end of the season. We’re friends first, and our team has always been self-funded, so we really appreciate the support from our friends and our sponsors. It’s kind of the core of who we are. I’d really like to thank Dunlop for stepping up our support this year, as I feel their product is what really made a difference for us. Our other sponsors that I’d also like to thank include Jimmy Cambora from RaceworX, Woodcraft, Scorpion helmets, M4, Totally Graphic Designs, Moto Liberty, Lone Star Track Days, and Whoopie Cycles for working with us.”

In Mini Endurance, the Green Machine Racing team of: Brandon Altmeyer, Ryan Andrews, Jesse Davis, Alan Phillips, and David Tiede, riding a Kawasaki 250R, would take both the Overall Mini Endurance win and the Formula 4 individual Endurance class win.

Nancy Selleck, CMRA Administrator, had this to add,”The CMRA is known for our endurance series and this year’s teams did not disappoint. We are proud of our long running teams and excited by the new teams that showed up this year. We are looking forward to see which new teams will form next year to join in the fun.”

Details for the weekend will be announced when finalized. Thank you again to the competitors and sponsors for making this a fantastic season of great racing action and looking forward to seeing you all in February!
