TWO BREAK-OUT STARS JOIN FORCES TO DOMINATE They’re Wild, They’re Rebellious and They Play to Win ATLANTA -“” Moe’s Southwest Grill today announces their official sponsorship of the Race Concepts, Inc. Race Team to help fuel their quest for total domination of the Western Eastern Racing Association (WERA) National and Southeastern Regional series. Rolling up Moe’s love for speed, brutal competition and, let’s face it, winning, the sponsorship is the perfect vehicle for this breakthrough brand known for its irreverent spirit, laid back atmosphere and great food. “Moe’s Southwest Grill is in this partnership with the Race Concepts, Inc. Race Team for the long haul,” said Brian Curin, vice president of marketing for Raving Brands. “We are a different type of company and needed a different type of sponsorship to fit our brand, and with this team we have found that. Team Moe’s Racing is ready to compete at the highest level. Just as we dominate the burrito category, we will dominate the track.” The relationship between Moe’s Southwest Grill and Team Moe’s goes a lot deeper than their wrapped trailer and bikes and the logos on their shirts. In an unprecedented commitment to Moe’s and the longevity of this soon-to-be-winning partnership, team owner and manager Ray Turman is inking the deal with more than just a ball-point pen. Turman is sporting the Moe’s logo day and night with a new Moe’s logo tattoo on his left arm. But there’s more to the story than just Turman’s dedication. Twenty-year-old racing prodigy Ryan Gordon looks to be the breakout star for this breakout restaurant concept’s team. Buying his first race bike in 2003 and racing in the superbike novice series three months later fits perfectly with the can-do attitude of Moe’s and expertly matches their success rate and growth. A year later, Gordon went on to win five WERA National/Regional championships and 8 points championships in 2004. He quickly proved that the age and experience of his opponents have nothing on his natural talent. “He has a gift,” said team owner and manager Ray Turman of Gordon. “If he can ride in every single race, there is no reason why we can’t win both the WERA and CCS championships. In the past, getting the money to participate in so many events was difficult, but our partnership with Moe’s allows us opportunities to succeed we just didn’t have before.” Crew chief Michael Long and marketing director Mason Orr comprise the rest of Team Moe’s Racing, who opened their season March 8-11 at the 64th American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Daytona 200. AMA Superbike is the premier professional motorcycle-racing league in North America for this quickly emerging national sport. Team Moe’s hopes to build from their successes on the WERA and CCS circuits into a long-term goal of competing in the AMA series. Fans will get to meet up with Team Moe’s Racing at local Moe’s around each race when the guys come in to grab a Joey Bag of Donuts burrito (Gordon’s favorite while Turman prefers the Homewrecker), sign autographs and let the fans get up close to their Ducati Superbikes as long as no one drips salsa on their gleaming paint. For Team Moe’s Gordon is piloting the Ducati 749R, which features the powerful mid-size Testastretta engine together with a state-of-the-art chassis set up by Thermosman Suspension, both developed for top track performance. He will also be racing the Ducati 999S this season, which has the best-ever twin cylinder engine by Motorcycle News, a leading European motorcycle magazine, built by Michael Long. With the commitment of Moe’s Southwest Grill and the talent of Gordon and Turman on the track, some enterprising companies have already seen the value of getting their products aligned with this promising team. Moose with Trackside Racer Supply and Pirelli Tires have selected Team Moe’s to outfit the race bike with tires, Christian Hansen of Speedymoto has supplied them with performance enhancing products and Ryatt Motorcycle Products has also partnered with the team to research and design specialty components available for the public. About Moe’s Southwest Grill Moe’s Southwest Grill offers fun, fresh Southwest cuisine with a healthy twist. The Atlanta-based company was founded by Martin Sprock in December 2000 and currently has 800 franchise units signed for 38 states. Moe’s Southwest Grill ranks number 11 in Inc.
